About this property

Spacious & Comfy, nr Zoo SKYWALK, Garden, Redwoods, Park, & even great 4 HORSES!

*Same day reservation is possible, despite the website not showing availability.*

My furnished house is available for your group of friends, family, or traveling professionals looking for a comfortable place to kick back, with all of the conveniences you need: a fully-equipped kitchen, games & puzzles, piano, washer/dryer, spacious deck and lawn, wood-burning stove, heater, security system, wi-fi internet, bicycles, croquet, horseshoes, and plenty of parking. And… please realize that you will never need air-conditioning in Eureka!

This 2200sq’ home has four bedrooms, plus an office and two living rooms. Sleeping accommodations are a downstairs queen-size bed, with a king, queen, and twin beds upstairs. The den has a daybed and trundle bed. One of the living rooms has two convertible couches as well as room for cots or air mattress. A lot of 'equipment' for children is available upon request. The bathroom downstairs is shower-only and equipped with safety rails. The bathroom upstairs has a clawfoot bathtub. There are steps to get into the house both in the front and back. Please, no smoking or shoes inside the house. I am able to communicate on a basic level in American Sign Language (ASL).

Emergency Supplies
We are prepared to keep you safe and warm in case of a power outage. Yup, sometimes it happens. BUT - At the house is a power station to keep the internet on, to charge your personal communication devices, to keep you warm with an electric blanket, and to light up the area at the flick of a switch. No fumbling for matches and candles!
If necessary, we will bring to you a battery powered refrigerator and extra portable power stations to run extra lights and heat if necessary. Having a wood stove is especially wonderful to warm the house!

Eureka is a wonderful place to stay while working in the area or visiting.

Your proximity to everything Humboldt, Trinity, & Del Norte counties have to offer is an advantage to a home-base in Eureka. And this house is a lovely way of being centrally located and close to shops, yet quiet and rural. Did you know Eureka has an old-growth redwood forest in the middle of town? You’d be able to stroll to Sequoia Park & Flower Garden in less than a minute’s walk from your front door. And California’s oldest zoo is right there too! Those otters and red pandas are adorable! Have you ever tried "forest bathing"? The practice is claimed to benefit physical as well is mental health as it help lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost immunity and mood, and improve overall feelings of well-being. We've got the forests for you!

This house and property is well-suited for extra-large gatherings. The initial price is set for a small group with additional people adding to the overall cost. We will set up all rooms and beds for you. Please be specific about how many infants (<1), children (<18), adults, and animals will be on the property. We want everyone to be comfortable!

This property is on the unceeded ancestral territory and current home of native Wiyot people.

Great stay
Margo and Sunny did a wonderful job of preparing their house for our stay while on a work deployment. The house is in a great neighborhood, quiet, and comfortable. Sunny and Margo were excellent communicators and very responsive to our needs or requests. Would absolutely recommend them and this property.

Felt like home
We were traveling with three little ones. The location was fabulous as there was a playground and zoo/park around the corner. Margo has a huge collection of equipment and games for kids on hand. Our littles loved the trampoline! Margo is the most responsive host we've ever stayed with. We were very comfortable.

Graduation weekend
We loved our stay at Hollys house. She was available when we locked ourselves out, oops. She even picked flowers on the property & put in Vase on outside tables for our graduation party. She was very kind. We had everything we needed here. Her lovely home allowed us all to stay together, comfortably, including my little 14mo grand baby.

Hello! Thank you for checking out this listing. I am offering this house to visitors to Humboldt County until my family is able to join me to live in the house ... many years down the road. I hope you will let me know what you are looking for so that I can see about making this your best stay ever! There is a guest house (suitable for a single or couple) on this property. If you would like to reserve both for your large group, please include that in your message.

But please read the House Rules ... recent visitors have been wildly destructive and have cost me much time, money, and sanity. There is a rental agreement for you to sign prior to entering the house. I'm sure your traveling companions won't be so disrespectful (and gross), but I have to cover my tushy. :o)

Why they chose this property

Don't you want a place to spread out and relax? Quiet but not far from anything? Whether you stay local or visit nearby counties of Mendocino or Trinity ... or even drive up to Vancouver or down to San Francisco... This is the place to start the fun!

Flying in and out of our local airport (ACV) is SO easy, it makes travelling infinitely more relaxing. Fly in on Avelo, American, or United airlines.

Each year, Lonely Planet asks its community of travel experts – in-house editors, researchers on the road and locals on the ground – to decide on the most compelling destinations to visit in the year ahead. This year marks the 8th annual Best in the US list.

For 2018 Lonely Planet named California’s Redwood Coast, primarily Humboldt County, the number one destination in the country to visit in 2018. Located four hours north of San Francisco, this picturesque region spans 175 miles of coastline and is home to towering forests of giant redwood trees that you might recognize from blockbuster film franchises such as Star Wars and Jurassic Park. With Redwood National Park turning 50 this year, travelers can get their share of shinrin-yoku (forest therapy) and experience Humboldt County’s quirky new shops, oysters and brewpubs.

The entire list is available online at To see the Lonely Planet video featuring Humboldt, go to:

What makes this property unique

NEW: The great Redwood SKYWALK at the Zoo!! And there are so many other things to do... Worldwide, we are known for the glorious Kinetic Sculpture Race & the Kinetic Universe- every May, after the Tall Ships sail in. June brings the [baseball] Crabs back, the Oyster Festival and the Trinidad Fish Fry. July has spectacular fireworks over the Bay, Rodeo Week, & the Folklife Festival. In August this is the best haven to avoid the heat everywhere else, go to the County Fair, Woofstock, & see the Dog Agility Trials. September is lovely on all of the rivers and for Cruz'N Eureka. October is very busy with the Apple Harvest Festival, Pastels on the Plaza, & more. November begins Crab Season, the Intertribal Gathering, and the Mushroom Festival. December has many holiday celebrations including the Symphonies, the Tractor & Truckers' Christmas Convoy, and the Tuba Santas. January has the mildest weather of anywhere, the Eureka Crab Celebration, & the beginning of Steelhead Days for tasty fishing. February is the Inked Hearts Tattoo Festival & the Valentines Sunset Paddle. In March the Aleutian Cackling Geese "Fly Off", it's the educational & entertaining Dog Expo, plus the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival. April is for Godwit Days, the Intern'l Film Festival, & [Steam] Donkey Days. And the 1st Saturday of every month is Arts Alive!

Also, check out "Humboldt Made" for the many cottage industries that have gotten their start here... Dick Taylor Chocolate, Cypress Grove Chevre, and Lost Coast Brewery are among the most beloved.

But here in Humboldt County, Nature rules. Humboldt State University recently won the honor of havin g the highest score on the nationwide "Get Outside" competition by Outdoor Nation.
The reason? The beach, the mountains (snow in winter!), the rivers, the redwood forests (zip-lining!), the ocean - all are very close by and easily accessed. Fishing, sailing, horseback riding, jet boats, kayaking, biking, running, camping, surfing -
Sky's the limit!
