About this property

Space and comfort to match the great outdoors

This three story vacation home in the beautiful Endless Mountains is centrally located just 4 miles south of Dushore on what is locally known as 'Ringer Hill'. Part of the original 1850 homestead of Francis Xavier Lusch, this home is privately situated on 4 acres and within a short drive of World's End State park, Eagles Mere, the Loyalsock Trail(hiking to the 'Haystacks') and Rickett's Glen State park. The area boasts great fishing in the big and little Loyalsock Creeks and Hunters Lake & Lake Jean as well as some picturesque swimming holes, countless hiking trails, majestic vista views and just the simple beauty of nature which surrounds you everywhere you go. This is truly a great getaway meant for relaxing.

In this spacious home, you will find 5 large bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Four bedrooms & 2.5 baths are on the main and second floors and are available to groups of eight or less. Groups of over eight will also have automatic access to the bedroom & full bath in the basement. Access to the basement bedroom with a queen bed & bath can be made available to groups of eight or less by paying a fee of $50 (for the entirety of your stay). The first floor has a bedroom with a full-size bed and a half bath, and on the second floor there are 3 bedrooms and two full baths; a master bedroom (and bath) with a queen-size bed, another with a full-sized bed and one with two twins. Those three bedrooms are also furnished with comfortable futons for relaxing and extra sleeping space (2 doubles & 1 single). The main bathroom on the second floor is very spacious. Bed linens and towels are provided. To enjoy the outdoors and views there are 4 porches/decks. The rear porch is covered and is 25 feet in length at ground level. It's a great place to sit and relax while grilling dinner! From there you enter the home's mud room on the main floor. The front deck is also covered and is 46 feet in length. This deck can be accessed from both the living and dining rooms on the main floor & is furnished with an outdoor dining table & a number of comfortable chairs. The third outdoor space is a 10 foot open deck off the master bedroom on the 3rd floor. The living room, dining room, kitchen and mud room are all very large, which provides comfortable space for a large group. The kitchen is completely equipped with a gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and cooking utensils/dishware. Coffee and a variety of cooking spices are provided for your convenience. We also provide minimal complimentary paper products (napkins, paper towels & toilet paper) to start you off on your stay, but you should plan to buy/bring extra with you. The living room is furnished with large, comfortable, pillow-back sofas and a chair. The love seat and over sized chair recline for complete relaxation while reading or watching TV. There is Dish Satellite and Internet service with a flat screen TV & DVD player for evening entertainment. The master bedroom on the second level also has a TV and DVD player.

Wonderful Woodsy Getaway
The lodge is spacious and exceptionally clean. The decor is charming. The large covered front porch is great for gathering and relaxing at the end of the day. This is the ideal spot for large families or groups of friends. We are already planning our next stay at this wonderful getaway!

Host and Hostess with the mostest
John and Kay are the best! We have stayed at their property before and love it! This time I messed up my dates and arrived with friends only to find someone staying at the house. They were checking out the next day, but that left us with no place to go. After talking to John and Kay they were gracious enough to let us stay in another house for one night. We then moved to the house that I had booked. Kay went above and beyond to accommodate us. Thank you to the best host and hostess!

About the host

Host profile image
Hi I'm John, this is my family; Kay my wife, daughters Jessica and Sarah, and son John Michael. I am the 5th generation of my family to own this land. This is the 3rd piece of the puzzle since my mother had to sell all of it back in 1980. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to retire and purchase these properties back. We rebuilt the old farmhouse just down the road in 2008 and acquired the property next door (Lusch Acres Retreat) in 2010. We are excited about sharing the beauty and peacefulness that 'Ringer Hill' and the Lusch Acres properties afford our guests.

Why they chose this property

Sullivan County is considered the 'Gem' of the Endless mountains. At 2,100 ft of elevation and heavily forested you enjoy the cool summer nights. Also, there are only 6,000 full time residents in the whole county. The mountainous terrain, streams, lakes, State parks and Forest has retained all of the beauty and peacefulness I remember as a small boy growing up on 'Ringer Hill'

What makes this property unique

Lusch Acres Lodge has a private setting away from the main highways (Rte 87, 487 & 220) but is centrally located to the county as a whole so it is very convenient to the many attractions the county has to offer and it is also only a 5 minute drive into Dushore for groceries, church, and restaurants. So watch the Deer, Turkeys or Bear from the decks or head out on one of many adventures.
