About Candace Anderson
Bruce Anderson is in sales at Lexus of Tacoma. His hometown is Burnaby, BC, Canada, but became a citizen of the US over 40 years ago. His wife of over 40 years, Candace, grew up in the Seattle area. They met in a band that sang its way around the world. Candace has too many interests to list, but the most prominent are her garden and painting.
Candace Anderson purchased this Studio in 2003
Why Candace Anderson chose Gig Harbor
There's something about being by and breathing in salt air from seawater that is both peaceful and healing. This property has been completely reworked and rebuilt from the house to the gardens into an eyecatching, comfortable retreat for both the owners and their guests.
What makes this Studio unique
Living on a body of saltwater with its tides and sea life is very different from living on a lake. Though, like a lake our bay seems intimate and protected, it can be more closely compared to living on a cul-de-sac...only this is a cul-de-sac of water...salt water. Beyond Wollochet Bay is Puget Sound. Beyond Puget Sound is the Ocean. And that's the wonder of it: our little bay eventually leads to the ends of the earth.

Very nice, very quiet
Great location, right on the water
Everything was good very comfortable love the chickens people are very kind I would highly recommend to anyone
Great place to stay. Wonderful views!
Like other reviews before me, it felt much larger than a 'studio'. My family really enjoyed our time here.
Wonderful place to spend a weekend!
What a treat it was to stay here! The owners were very kind and helpful. They did some very nice things for my wife (it was her birthday weekend) such as leaving chocolates scattered throughout the studio, and even gifted us a bottle of wine! Also, I saw where other reviewers made mention of the small refrigerator, but this was not an issue AT ALL as the fridge is normal residential size. It may have been replaced since the previous reviewer commented on it but I just want to state that there is a full size fridge in the kitchen. Thanks again Candace!
Peaceful Beautiful Northwest
The Crow's Nest is a simple, non-fussy studio. It has all you need to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest- water (Wollochet Bay) and mountain (Mt Rainier) views, beach access, and the mountain an easy drive away. The studio has a queen bed, sofa, and day bed, large bathroom with standup shower, and a huge deck facing the bay with Mt Rainier in the distance. The neighborhood is quiet, the chickens are adorable, the hosts are lovely. In town activities (cinema, coffee shops, groceries, library, wine bar, restaurants, galleries, museum, and the harbor waterfront walk) are just a few miles by car. The Crow's Nest is the perfect place to chill for a weekend, a week, month, or more. Relax and enjoy your stay. It will be memorable.
We had a wonderful long weekend at Candace's Crow's Nest. She has included everything that you need and the space is cozy, comfortable and spacious. The view of the bay and the wonderful gardens made the visit truly memorable. We went on the annual art open studio tour and had fun visiting the 20+ artists studios. We also took the 2 hour boat tour and that was enlightening as the boat captain grew up in Gig Harbor and knew lots of interesting facts and stories about the area. Fun excursion.
Smithsonian Magazine named Gig Harbor one of the 'Best Small Towns in America' and there is plenty of fun to be had near the Crow's Nest, should you wish to go exploring.
Downtown Gig Harbor is just 5 minutes away with its boat & kayak rentals, Harbor History Museum, parks & outdoor summer concerts & movies, & delightful specialty shops. Uptown Gig Harbor features restaurants, big box stores, specialty shops and, for movie buffs, our new 'Galaxy Uptown' multiplex theater.
No need to go out of town to eat! Feast at any of our excellent restaurants (we'll give you a list of our favorites including the restaurant that Sunset magazine named #1 best fish and chips in the West) and enjoy one of our state's many award winning wines or pour a pint of Gig Harbor's own Seven Seas brew.
The heart of Tacoma is over the Narrows Bridge, about 20 minutes away. The Tacoma Art Museum, Chihuly's Glass Museum & the new LeMay Car Museum are nearby as well. Explore the quaint Norwegian town of Poulsbo, dig clams at Joemma State Park or take the ferry from nearby Bremerton to Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle (our favorite out-of-town outing).
Bottom Line: we are centrally located to explore historic Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Seattle, Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, the San Juan Islands and Victoria, British Columbia.
Whatever you choose to do, whether it's nothing or all of it, you'll be sure to have an incredible time at the Crow's Nest!
