About this property

Private Pond, Historic Cabin on 12 Acres Clean, Comfortable, Away From Crowds

Get away from what ails you in our Secluded Lakeside Pine Cabin with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms on 12 acres on gated private road near the Cohutta Wilderness. No better place to get isolated than in a country cabin in the woods with a pond! Cast a line in our private fishing pond or muddy your fat tires, hikin’ boots or huntin’ coveralls on some of Georgia’s most beautiful mountain land, nearly at our doorstep.

Pond is stocked with bass, bream, catfish and crappie.

Cabin is situated on big, grassy yard beside fishing pond 10 miles from charming downtown Ellijay. Rent our sturdy canoe for a paddle cruise or fishing tour around the pond. Wind up your pitching arm for a game of corn hole...corn bags and boards provided. Watch the deer graze and turkeys peck from the wrap-around porch. Relax by the campfire while your buddies catch a few fish and throw them back. Bring your football, soccer ball or croquet set (?) for a game on the grass; come on back in the house to recover in comfort. Listen to the bullfrogs croon on the pond in the evening.

Home has all wood floors, master and full bathroom on main, two bedrooms and bath upstairs in the loft. Rock fireplace with gas logs in living room invites warm conversation or quality TV time. Yes, we have Satellite TVs in living room and upstairs parlor with lots of channels. And, although we’re in the backwoods, we have wireless Internet, too!

Propane and charcoal grills on porch outside kitchen door.

All linens provided. Full size washer & dryer. Sleeps 6.

Area amenities: Numerous hiking trails in the Cohutta Mountains and wilderness area lead you to the Conasauga River and Lake Conasauga, waterfalls, and massive “Big Poplar,” the second largest tree in North Georgia. Mountain bike on Forest Service roads or contact a nearby outfitter about gearing you up and getting you out. Take a short drive up to Fort Mountain State Park for gorgeous views of the Georgia mountains from the car or trail and marvel at mysterious rock ruins from another age. Drive into Ellijay to get a pizza or dine at one of the unique local restaurants. Discover history, get nostalgic at local antique shops. Plan your fall visit around the apple harvest and the Georgia Apple Festival, 2nd and 3rd weekends in October. Hunt for deer, turkey, bear, feral hogs in the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area or three other WMAs within close range. Go 4-wheeling on trails in the Conasauga section of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Saddle up your horses for rides in the National Forest or at Fort Mountain State Park.

Come on up to the Country. Stay a while in our Secluded Lakeside Pine Cabin!

Absolutely perfect
I want to start off by saying this is one of the best trips we have been on. I originally booked this property for our family of 6 and dog. Due to conflicting schedules, only myself and my two sons ended up visiting. I was nervous to make this trip on my own, but for no reason. This property was easy to find with GPS. It is gated and that made us feel a little extra safe. When pulling up to the cabin, the entire property looks like something out of a movie scene. It is absolutely gorgeous. Check-in was a breeze. For just the three of us, there was way more than enough space. It would have fit all 6 of us very comfortably, as well. The gas logs in the living area were such a bonus. The main bedroom was cute and comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on in a rental property. We contacted the owner to rent their canoe during our stay, and their communication was excellent. We fished a TON and had some luck. It was a really unforgettable trip and I hope we can visit again someday soon.

Very cozy and wonderful place
We stayed at the cabin for a Christmas family trip. The cabin was fantastic, everything was very well organized, and it was fully equipped. The cabin was very well located and clean. Only two minor things, the upstairs bathroom had bath tub but not a shower so we all had to take showers downstairs and the stairs were very deep. In general a wonderful experience that my family is willing to repeat. Thanks

About the host

We're an outdoor family whose idea of a fun vacation usually involves activities in or around water, woods, and trails. This place gets us where we can have all that, plus the amenities of a charming small town and the solace of the mountains.

Why they chose this property

There's no better place to enjoy the Georgia Mountains than in our country log cabin where you're away from it all, but close to what matters.

What makes this property unique

When we're relaxing at the cabin, we like to pick up a summer novel to read on the front porch swing or warm up in winter by the fireplace gas logs. We like to feed the fish, too, and thrill at the huge lunkers who come up with mouths wide open. In the evenings, we relax on the porch rockers while the bulldogs croon on the pond. We enjoy watching wild turkeys peck and deer graze the grassy yard. The field awaits our soccer ball or your football or dinner on the ground! Sometimes we get competitive with a game of corn hole...but try to keep it fun and relaxing!
