About this property

Restful Country Charm, World Renowned Antiquing, Concerts and Shakesperean Plays

The Kottage has been loving restored with touches of days gone by including wood from the original German settlers house. It has a comfortable front porch and rocking chairs to view the countryside. A full kitchen, dining room and a living room greet our guests as they enter. We have WiFi available and modern conveniences in our country home. The Kottage has 2 bathroom and 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is also an additional room called the Texas Room that can be added when you require more than the two queen beds in the main house. The Texas Room has a full kitchen, a half bath, a queen bed and two singles. Anytime you need this extra space ( it will be an additional charge above the Kottage cost(4 guests).
There is a picnic area that occupies the original home site of the German settlers that lived here in the 1800's.

The Kottage overlooks a native prairie in restoration with
many species of birds that can be seen as we sit astride a major Texas flyway.

You can also watch for the herd of deer that call this area home.

Take a stroll down to the pond and see the waterfowl that frequent this riparian area, or around the 26 acres to see the many types of Texas native grasses and wildflowers that inhabit the prairie.

Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets as well as the clear view in the night sky, along with the evening sounds that occur only in the country.

Country gem at roundtop
Lovely home just a short 5-10 minute drive from all of the shows. The views from the front porch are breathtaking. Owners are extremely accommodating and very easy to work with. Clean home, comfortable beds, overall a wonderful stay

We were both raised in the city but have had a yearning for the country for a long time. My wife's family and a friend owned this property before we acquired it so we have been enjoying it for 30 plus years. When the opportunity came to take over this property we leapt at the chance since we had been managing it for many years before that time. Our desire is to return this propery to the tall grass prairie it was 150 years ago when the bison ( buffalo) were grazing here and wildfires were the management techniques used by God to keep the prairie from being overgrown with undesireable species.

Why they chose this property

The 26 acres gives you a relaxed atmosphere with walking trails if you desire but yet you are minutes away from some of the best antique shopping in the nation, a world class concert hall and 40 minutes away from the birthplace of Texas, Washington on the Brazos, as well as many other sites & venues.

What makes this property unique

We are back off the road so the road noises practically disappear as you relax in a country setting. In season, some of the items we prepare for breakfast come from our gardens and orchards.

Just minutes from historic Winedale, the Kottage has lovingly been restored to a charming hideaway for rest and relaxation. It has a full kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with a front porch that overlooks a scenic view. The Kardinal is the newest of our cottages and sleeps six. There are 3 themed rooms, a full kitchen and living room. Sit on the front porch and enjoy the view. We also have the Texas Room, which is an open concept room, that sleeps 4, has a bath and a half plus a full kitchen. Located 10 minutes from the Round Top Square in Burton, TX 77835.
