The Pigeon Nest Cottage is ideal for the cost-conscious traveler or couple who appreciates a cozy, homey venue for a getaway, and only a 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops. The little 250' addition fits perfectly in the new craze for "tiny house" living. It is connected to owners home by a 20x18 ft screened veranda. Situated in the Pigeon Point area of Beaufort close to the historic downtown, Chateau Petite Cottage aka Pigeon Nest Cottage is a small place with a lot of heart. Outside, the cottage offers a large yard surrounded by a white picket fence (so your small pet can roam), as well as a private screened deck for guests and a separate seating area with a table and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view. In the spring of 2016, a whimsical flower garden is in a continual process of "being complete.
In February Diane's younger sister Bonnie passed away, and it spurred the idea of a memory garden for her.... a meandering path, graced with ferns, daisies, hydrangeas, misc pretty flowers, as well as a precious pink flowered bush called "little Bonnie" have all been planted with love. You will also find teapots, bunnies and assorted little treasures to make you smile. Please spend time enjoying........ my flowers want to see you...
You are welcome to relax on my veranda, especially in inclement weather, tho fair warning - being an intrepid decorator, there is usually a "construction zone" of works in progress . You also will get to have the delightful experience of my 2 feline roomies Miss Maggie Grace, and Good Golly Miss Molly, the long haired calico. They love to be petted.
Established in 1711, historic downtown Beaufort boasts a scenic waterfront park with an array of alfresco dining options--locally caught fresh seafood, steaks, Lowcountry barbeque, burgers and gourmet flatbread pizza. Relax on the riverfront green space with its swinging benches for a great view of the river and the marina. Sit a spell and watch the bridge swing open for the tall masts of sail boats gliding past on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, see porpoises play on the tides of the river, and witness breathtaking coastal sunsets over the water.
To learn about Beaufort's 300-year heritage, take a boat tour along the river, travel through the city's historic streets in a quaint horse-drawn carriage or walk the streets with a guide dressed in period garb. Linger in the quaint downtown shops loaded with antiques, clothing, gifts, furnishings and more. Peruse the many art galleries featuring the works of local Lowcountry artisans.
Beaufort is the ideal base for all of your Lowcountry and Coastal Empire excursions. The Sea Islands and Atlantic Ocean are just a few miles from downtown, so be sure to visit Hunting Island with its historic lighthouse and sunny ocean beaches. And Beaufort is ideally located for day-trips to Charleston, Savannah and Hilton Head Island--only an hour or so from each destination.
In Beaufort, you can sit and enjoy the sun and water while you sip your favorite beverage, or you can fill your days with boating, kayaking, beachcombing, fishing, sightseeing and history--it's your choice. Welcome to Beaufort, South Carolina's coastal paradise!
