About Linda Bastian

Gary and I grew up in families that visited Twain Harte which is where our love for this area began. We both were born, raised and live in San Jose. One of our dreams was to be able to have a retirement home in Twain Harte. Five years ago we were able to check that off our bucket list and we continue to live between San Jose and Twain Harte part time. Because of our love for this area, we wanted to have a place to share with family and friends and this year we found this perfect cabin. We hope that all who come here will fall in love with Twain Harte just as we did.

Linda Bastian purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Linda Bastian chose Twain Harte

Our check list when looking for a cabin here included: original Twain Harte cabin, Lake membership, walking distance to town, sleeps a bunch, seats a bunch, lots of trees and most of all, gives you that special feeling of being home. We believe our Sugar Pine Lodge meets all of these and much more.

What makes this cabin unique

Our goal is to make your time spent here special. Our cabin comes with places to share with family and friends. Large deck with lots of seating for dining and grilling. Walk ways that take you around the property to enjoy nature. Our carport entertainment area. We supply 4 sets of golf clubs, 3 right and 1 left handed. Tennis rackets and fishing poles for our guests to use during your stay. Games, moves, WiFi and Roku TV. We also have a private cottage that is separate from the cabin for a couples retreat. All of this and more is what makes our Cabin special.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great location, beautiful cabin, has all the comforts of home. Twain Harte Lake access is great. Short drive to Pinecrest Lake, Columbia, and New Melones. Owners have everything to make a fun stay for kids (ping pong table, darts, games). Great deck to hang out and BBQ.

Thank you so much for all your kind words! We are delighted that your family enjoyed our cabin. You got the purpose of our wanting to have this family cabin! 😘

Cute, well-appointed home nestled in trees

  • 5 of 5

This home is super cute and comfortable! I liked that it had 3 bedrooms with queen size beds, as well as 3 full bathrooms. The location is ideal in that it is so close to Twain Harte town, as well as the lake and golf course. I would definitely stay here again!

Home is as photographed & described. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds.

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming wood lodge with adjacent bed/bath cottage in a wooded setting with lots of deck space. It is very clean and updated with things like luxury vinyl flooring in the kitchen. All the appliances we needed were readily available along with plentiful & new utensils, spices, coffee & tea and more. Multiple tv's are set up for streaming (not cable) with many apps. Baths are modern with many fresh towels and cleaning products. Beds are comfortable with up to date sheets & comforters. All-in-all this is a great property to rent.

We were in Twain Harte for a family wedding, and extended family rented multiple properties. Ours was easily one of the best in a town where older cabins & homes are situated on hilly winding streets and tucked in amongst the trees. The Sugar Pine Lodge is about 200 feet off of Twain Harte Road making it easy to reach with a wide paved driveway. You will hear traffic on the TH Road, but it is easy to ignore.

The "best" amenity of this home is the owner, who is extremely attentive to details from the ease of communication (before, during & after the rental) to special touches like a fresh bread, fruit & hard salami platter with fresh cheesecake and beverages. Wow!! We really felt appreciated & comfortable. If we have the opportunity to return to this beautiful part of California we would rent this home again without hesitation.

kind hosts, beautifully decorated, well stocked, can't ask for more.

  • 5 of 5

I booked another cabin but the condition was so poor that we had to leave or else could not start enjoying our vacation. We are a group of 3 families with small children with a lot of things to haul. We were packing and looking for the next cabin at the same time. Thank God the host of this cabin, Linda, responded with phone call immediately once I submitted request and described our situation online. She happened to be in the cabin at that time and granted us immediate access without having to wait till 4pm check in time. When we arrived, cozy fireplace, warm glowing lamps and soft music were turned on welcoming us. We couldn't believe we can find something so nice in such short period of time. Exhausted parents screamed "Hallelujah" and the kids went straight in to play. We celebrated our son's 4th birthdays there too. The place is very clean and well stocked with all kinds of kitchen supplies, movies, board games, and even access to a club ! (though nothing much going on in winter but looked like there are fun activities in summer) We went there for snow but there's none. No one is slightly disappointed because of this nice cabin. Thank you so much to the host for giving us all the conveniences you can think of. You brought us from a nightmare situation to sweet dream!

Twain Harte Lake
Car: necessary

The Twain Harte area is a year-round recreation destination with an unlimited supply of fun. Fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, water-skiing, fine dining, gambling, golfing, concerts, shopping, professional theatre, white-water rafting, snow skiing and snowplay are just a few of the activities and attractions in the Central Sierra.

Twain Harte’s Eproson Park offers a fabulous playground for the little ones, barbecues, a baseball field and an outdoor stage where you can enjoy live free concerts in the Summer. Our picturesque Executive Golf Course is nestled among the pines and open to the public and we provide golf clubs for our guests. The ever-popular Twain Harte Lake is staffed with lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is available to our cabin guests. The quaint “downtown” Twain Harte area offers many fine restaurants, a mini golf course and public pool (Summer only), and shopping opportunities.

Nearby Cover’s Apple Ranch offers year-round country experiences with apple and berry-picking, home baked goodies and train rides.

Some of the special events that occur in and around Twain Harte are the one-of-a-kind Winter Wonderland Parade and Tree Lighting the first Friday evening in December where you can join in the small-town spirit of the holidays. (No Grinches in Twain Harte!) Twain Harte a la Carte is held in the heart of town on the third Saturday in May and features food and wine tastings from local restaurants and vintners. A great way to kick off Summer. The Annual Arts & Wine Festival (usually the last weekend in July) is a very popular event and draws visitors from throughout California for a weekend of shopping and wine tasting. You can bring the kids, your picnic and dance the night away at live, free Concerts in the Pines on the Rotary Stage at Eproson Park on Saturday nights from Father's Day to Labor Day.

Just 45 minutes up Highway 108 is Kennedy Meadows

where you can enjoy fishing, horseback riding and the quaint restaurant and saloon.

Don’t forget – Yosemite National Park is just a day trip from the Twain Harte area (approximately 2 hrs. driving time to the Valley floor).

And for those who enjoy gaming, entertainment and fine dining, the Black Oak Casino is only 9 miles from Twain Harte.

For the kids a visit to Barrel of Monkeez is a must. It's an indoor family entertainment center, featuring bounce houses, laser tag, 9-hole mini golf and more, located at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp, California.
