About the property

Great Lakefront Cabin with Spectacular Views, Firepits, a Private Dock, & Canoe

Long Term Rental Only (we will only rent the lake front cottage to one individual or couple for the entire warm weather season) Long Term Rental Only. We do not accept short term rentals for less than 6 months per rental. Seven month maximum rental period per year. The tenant is responsible for utilities and minor maintenance. The rate is $9,395.00 (which is less than $50 per night) plus utilities for a 189 day period (mid-April until mid-October).

Our Lake Cottage is located on the Kentucky Lake portion of the Tennessee River. The Tennessee River in this area combined with the Tombigbee Canal is a major shipping waterway route for northbound and southbound commercial and yacht traffic. It is much more scenic than the Mississippi River and not muddy like the Mississippi River. You never know what you'll see pass by here. Great river views, tremendous sunsets, and wonderful fishing is blessed part of our life here.

Located at mile marker 89 on the main channel of the Tennessee River/Kentucky Lake, this charming lakefront cottage has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, a large deck, screened porch, large private dock and a boatslip. Although it seems larger due to its design, the cottage is 800 sf, not counting the 10' X 20' screened porch, or over 600 sf of deck space, or the nearly 1000 sf of private dock. It also has a patio with comfortable seating, a charcoal grill and a firepit. There's another firepit at the shoreline in front of the cottage. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed, fullsize futon, dresser, wardrobe, 32" hdtv, dvd player, nightstands, lamps, and an electric fireplace with heat and realistic looking flames. The 2nd bedroom features 2 twinsize beds and a 20' flatscreen tv with dvd player. One loveseat in the livingroom has a pull out twinsize bed in it. The livingroom also has a leather loveseat, an oversized super-comfortable leather easychair with ottoman, a glider rocker with glider ottoman, 32" HDTV, and an electric fireplace with heat and realistic looking flames. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo, hairdryer and has plenty of plush towels and plush wash cloths. The kitchen has an island cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and is fully equiped with dishes, glasses, cups, pots, pans, skillets, a toaster, blender, deep-fryer, serving bowls, and more. With the exception of the bathroom, every room in the cottage has a great view of the lake and a door going out onto the deck. Please note: the cottage doesn't have an automatic dishwasher or washer/dryer, however the tenant may install them if desired. High speed broadband is available. This is a seasonal rental available to guests from April through October of each year. The maximum occupancy is limited to 4 people allowed on the premises at any time. No pets are allowed on the premises. No smoking and no vaping is allowed in the cottage. Long Term Rental Only: the minimum rental period is for 183 nights to the same individual or couple. The maximum rental period each year is for seven months; the warm weather months only.

About Darryl and Deanna

We've lived here at the lake for several years in the house next door to The Lake Cottage and think it's the best place on the planet. We love the peace and quiet and enjoy watching the herons fishing along the shore and listening to the song birds and lake loons, seeing the eagles soaring above, and the squirrels and foxes scurrying pass. Plenty of migrating birds also stop in for a while such as seagulls, pelicans, several kinds of ducks, geese, and others. We also love watching the tug boats, barges, all kinds of other boats and yachts, and the occasional paddle-wheeler or ship pass by. While every season of the year has it's own benefits and pleasures, the trees in bloom in the springtime, the summer is great, of course, but we love it here in the fall best. The crisp cool nights, a warm fire in a fire pit, the hot chocolate, the amazing colors of the changing leaves, the migrating birds, the squirrels gathering acorns, the parade of boats and yachts passing by heading south for the winter, taking a walk down the country lane and enjoying the peace and serenity of the lake. We love it here!

Why Darryl and Deanna chose Waverly

Lakefront homes here rarely come on the market. When this one did, we thought it might be great way to share the wonders of the area with other folks and pick up a little additional income in the process. There are only ten lakefront homes on the main channel here on this side of the bay all located on a quaint country lane. This is a nice quiet community in one of the most beautiful areas of the huge lake. Kentucky Lake is the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River when measured by surface acres: 184 miles long, 2 miles wide where we live, 160,309 surface acres, and with 2,380 miles of shoreline. Within sight of this lake cottage are several uninhabited islands about a mile away. Also, if you have an ATV, bring it & check out the trails in the forest at the end of the lane. About a mile from the cottage by water there is a small marina in the bay with a restaurant, convenience store, and fuel.

What makes this cabin unique

Welcome to Paradise! Just sit on the deck or screened porch or on the patio and listen to the birds singing and the waves lapping along the shore while looking out over the lake. Watch the eagles soaring, the pearl divers sorting bags of muscles, the boats zipping across the water. Or wander down the path a few feet to your very own private dock in front of the cottage with it's pier and large covered boat slip, it's floating platform for sunning, fishing, swimming, or just sitting and relaxing. There's no high pressure or rushing about here. No place you've got to be. Just enjoying nature at it's best. Explore or fish the nearby waters along the shoreline, or in the bays. Explore the shoreline and pick up a few seashells (or are they called lake shells?). Take a quiet walk down the country lane and enjoy the view and observe the birds, plants, and animals. Or just sit on the deck and enjoy watching the birds visiting the birdfeeders or hummingbirds zipping around. In the evenings, stop everything, get your favorite beverage, sit back, and experience one of the most amazing sunsets you've ever witnessed. As darkness approachs, lay in the hammock on the front deck and check out the billions of stars up above or weatherpermitting, light a fire in one of the two firepits and roast some marshmellows and hot dogs or fire up the grill and cook something really special. p.s. On the 4th of July, weatherpermitting, fireworks can be seen from your dock in multiple locations around the lake. Welcome to Paradise!

Words cannot start to describe this amazing home. Life is way too short not to experience this breathtaking and magical place on the Tennessee River. My husband and I will be talking about it for days and months to come. Truly a place you've got to see to believe!

The fishing was awesome!

  • 4 of 5

Cute place, very comfortable, and great fishing! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We caught lots of blue gill, bass, and a catfish, right from the dock. And we really enjoyed watching the barge traffic up and down the river. We'd definitely consider returning. Thanks for everything.

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the entire stay at the lake cottage! Spent the entire time on the dock and caught multiple fish! The cabin was well stocked, and the beds were very comfy! We loved using the kayaks, canoe and paddle boat to explore the beautiful lake too! One of our favorite things was the neighbors dog Gus. If only my own dog was as enthusiastic about fishing as He was! He stayed with us on the dock for 2 days! And with a house full of dog lovers it was very welcome! Thank you for the stay! We will be back!! ALOHA!

Peaceful paradise retreat

  • 4 of 5

Our family enjoyed the cottage so much! Everything about it was thoughtful and comfortable. Our teenagers enjoyed the dock and the boats while I enjoyed sitting on the porch watching all the fun. We also have a three year old that really loved the garden and the freedom of the porches. My husband fished the whole trip and was very excited to have the ability to tie the boat up so convienent to the house. We were all able to relax, unhook for a few days, and just unwind. We had limited cell phone service but didn't want it anyway. We highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to steal away for a few days! The owners were accommodating and quick to reply. The house was the perfect size, comfortable, and very clean (everything we wanted).

Absolutely enchanting!

This was the perfect little getaway for myself and two teenage boys. It provided the privacy in a wooded setting I desired along with its own dock and water and fishing activities for the boys. Can't wait to go back!!

A sparkling gem on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

The Lake Cottage had everything for our family to have a great vacation. Our daughter loved up the gnomes and garden decor and our son stayed on the dock fishing or enjoying the paddleboat, canoe and kayak. We caught several kinds of fish even with lots of mayflies around. The house had everything we needed and more! The owners have thought about everything to make your stay great with all the little touches. Great place to get completely away, it is a blessing to have NO cell service and give complete devotion to God and family for your stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review Patrick. We're glad you all had a great time. When we read your review we were a little baffled about the cell service. Deanna and I immediately took our Galaxy smartphones over to the lake cottage and were both able to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and surf the internet. You mentioned your phones are through Straight Talk; ours are through Verizon, so I guess that must be the difference. We hope it was just some sort of a temporary glitch with Straight Talk. Again, thanks so much for the great review.

This lakefront cottage is located in the countryside approximately a fifteen minute drive from Waverly (and 15 minutes from the nearest Walmart, gas stations, restaurants, hospital, etc.) and about a 90 minute drive from Nashville. Located in a nice quiet lakefront community the area is noted for it's great fishing and boating. The cottage faces west for the perfect sunset viewing. While other lakefront houses are located nearby, the lake lots here are large and provide each home a significant amount of privacy. The owners of the cottage live in the adjacent lakehouse . There is a public forest at the end of the lane, just half a mile from the cottage, providing a great place for hiking or 4-wheeling. Examples of wildlife we often see here: eagles, hawks, owls, herons, white pelicans, seagulls, loons, canadian geese, ducks, foxes, river otters, squirrels, chipmonks, deer, turtles, lots of colorful song birds and more. It's amazing to sit on the deck and watch these birds and animals. The large herons have wingspans which are over six feet, and the bald eagle's wingspans are over seven feet, and even larger are the white pelicans passing through in the fall and spring which have wingspans up to ten feet.
