About this property

3 Bedroom Barn - sleeps 8 (Hot Tub)

Abernant Barn has been beautifully renovated from a 100 year old stable block into a luxurious holiday home / cottage in the heart of Wales. Wonderfully secluded and set in 8 acres of private pasture, bordered by the River Irfon on one side and the Nant Cerdin on the other. The property includes fishing rights on the banks of the Irfon which runs only metres from the property. The accommodation includes underfloor heating throughout and large lounge with a wood burning stove for those cosy evenings. Outside an under cover decked area with sunken hot tub provides space to relax and BBQ whatever the weather. The village of Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain is only a 10 minute walk away and is well served by three pubs and a local store/garage. The local railway station is a 5 minute walk from the barn where a regular service on the heart of wales line will take you towards Builth Wells or Llandovery.

Perfect getawag
My friends and I really enjoyed the place. Not only the inside but sitting out by the river with a fire and of course the hottub.

Beautiful location for a weekend away
Just got back from a lovely weekend at the property. The location is fantastic with beautiful scenery and a river adjacent to the property which was great for swimming. Loved the use of the hot tub, campfire area and the kitchen was well equipped. Overall we felt the barn could have been cleaner with some stains on the sofas, quite a bit of dog hair on the rug and just generally in need a bit of a clean and a lick of paint. BBQ was a bit unstable which could be dangerous with little ones around and mirroring previous reviews the option of a fire guard would have been handy. These were however minor problems and our experience was mainly positive and we would return. Communication with the owner was very good.

Lovely getaway
We had a great time, the property is out of the way so extremely quiet and peaceful. Few minutes drive from local shop and pubs.

A very beautiful location, with plenty of space.
The house and land were spacious and beautiful. Plenty of useful items including dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc. Instructions to get there were spot on. The whole kitchen was very well equipped. As a family we agreed there could be more improvements. The shower is very small, no locks on the upstairs bedroom doors, some equipment broke when we went to use it and some mattresses were stained. There's very little space to put toiletries in bathroom and no hanging space in the bunk bed bedroom- again, nowhere to put a drink or tissues etc. If taking very young children, be aware, the floor is stone! The reason we booked this property was because of the hot tub. However, the day after we arrived we went to use it and the chlorine level was very high. We couldn't use it until mid afternoon on our last day. However, when we contacted the owners, they suggested things to try and responded very promptly. We wanted a quiet and relaxing holiday and that's what we got.

I discovered Llanwrtyd Wells during a mountain bike race called the Wobble. The property was a stable block and I just knew it had great potential due to it's unique location. We still spend as much time as we can in Llanwrtyd Wells as a family enjoy the brilliant community and beautiful Cambrian Mountains

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property after spending many weekends mountain biking as part of the green events organised by the community of Llanwrtyd Wells. Nestled in it's own 8 acres just 15 minutes walk outside the village and surrounded on two sides by river banks, the property is uniquely positioned.

What makes this property unique

With a relaxing sunken hot tub and it is quiet, and secluded, yet only 15 minutes from town with 3 pubs and a shop. Many events are run throughout the year by green-events such as the Man v Horse race and the Real Ale Wobble, a cross between mountain biking and a beer festival.
