Log Cabin with hot tub on bold creek

BEAT THE HEAT!!!
BOLD RUSHING CREEK
Relax in a swing or rocking chair on the COVERED PORCH overlooking a bold, rushing creek. On summer nights, watch the fireflies.
Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the creek, which can be seen and heard throughout the house-truly therapeutic for MELTING AWAY STRESS! Cabin is on a well-maintained mountain road in a mountain hollow at 3000 foot elevation. Beautiful mountain views surround you. Spectacular in the Fall when the LEAVES ARE CHANGING.

ANTIQUE LOG CABIN
Antique log cabin reconstructed to have all of the modern amenities, including a washer and dryer. It is tastefully and comfortably furnished in the Adirondack style with cathedral ceilings in the living room and downstairs bedroom. Wood floors are throughout the cabin. The living room has a beautiful wood burning STONE FIREPLACE and the kitchen area has a WOOD BURNING STOVE. The large kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking utensils and has a large farm table for family meals. A DECK on the front has a PICNIC TABLE that overlooks the creek and a GAS GRILL for enjoying outdoor meals. The second floor has a deck that looks out on a hardwood forest for stargazing or watching the moon rise over the mountain. The HOT TUB is on the deck. The master bedroom is on the second floor surrounded on 3 sides by windows that overlook the creek. A large covered porch runs the entire length of the front, OVERLOOKING THE CREEK which is in close proximity to the house

SLEEPS 8
Cabin is 2 story and has 2BR/2BA (one each upstairs and downstairs) and sleeps 8 comfortably in 4 separate sleeping areas. There are 3 double beds, and 2 twin beds. The downstairs bathroom has a RIVERROCK SHOWER. The upstairs bathroom has a FOOTED BATHTUB. All linens and towels are provided.

EASY ACCESS YEAR ROUND
The cabin is SECLUDED BUT NOT ISOLATED. Easy access year round via interstate and state highways. The mountain road leading to the cabin is 2 miles long, paved, and is well maintained by the state. Since the cabin is close to the creek, the access to the cabin is level and does not require 4 wheel drive to get there.

Great cabin great location
Very peaceful place with beautiful creek. Wonderful little waterfalls on the street. Close to charming town with incredible restaurants. Slept like a baby with the sounds of the creek. Lots of birds, a cute little squirrel. Saw turkey and deer.

Great getvaway.
The cabin is in a nice location. The amiunt of dead beetles tho was overwheling. And they were all over the beds. The decor upstairs freaked us out some.so we all stayed in one room downstairs as we were too scared to sleep upstairs lol. Hot tub was nice. But we kept stumping out toe on the brick around the wood stove and inended up breaking a bine in my foot. The claw tub while pretty, took forever to fill up.

Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely the best vacation cabin we’ve stayed in and will definitely be back. Off the beaten path but on a paved, easy navigating road. Cabin was exceptional and plenty cool during the days and warm during the night. Beautiful property with a very rustic feel, the stream out front made for some amazing relaxation and sleep. Hands down would recommend for anyone looking for an unplugged place to stay.

rustic cabin with up-to-date amenities in a peaceful setting
This was our family's first time using VRBO to book a stay, and it was a great experience! No issues. Cabin is a sturdy antique with a lot of character, with well-loved furniture throughout, including some handcrafted pieces. It's very homey. Lots of interesting knick-knacks, books, and board games to peruse. Mounted animals and animal hide rugs throughout the space. Very dog-friendly, with sofas worn enough that you feel OK letting a dog jump onto them. Lots of cool smells for sniffing, apparently. A baby gate in one room's doorway creates a temporary dog-pen. Our dog LOVED the creek. There are five beds; we used three, all comfy. Main bedroom's bed is a little high but I'm 5'5" and it was okay for me. Main bedroom is the best, since you can listen to the creek all night if you want via windows. Kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, and tons of utensils, dishes, etc. Bathrooms are clean; we mostly used the one upstairs (toilet seemed sturdier), but it had plenty of space and good lighting. Hot tub on the back deck is lovely, fun to use in the crisp fall evenings. Internet/wi-fi was fast and dependable. Creek right outside is a huge bonus; you can listen from a chair on the porch, walk in it, buy wood (we found some at Food Lion) and build a fire next to it. Tire swing was a hit! Location is great, short distance from stores and easy drive to hikes and touristy things. Clear check-out instructions and area info left in a huge binder in the kitchen.

About the host

Our log cabin is a labor of love. The original log cabin was first built in Southern Georgia in 1865 by a woman and her slave for the husband coming home from the Civil war. We purchased it from the landowners who wanted to tear it down. We painstakingly disassembled it (numbering every log-you can still see these tags today) and stored it in a relative's barn in Georgia until we found the perfect location for it on a mountain creek in North Carolina. We had eyed this property for many years as we visited a friend who had a cabin on the mountain. The property (and surrounding 30 acres) had been owned by one family for over 40 years and happened to go for sale at auction. It was bought by our friend's uncle and subdivided into 8 home-sites. We had our pick of our favorite location close to the stream which was also the site of the original homestead on the property. We reassembled the cabin as close to the creek as possible (it was the original dogtrot design made entirely of heart pine), added an 8 foot wide covered porch to the entire front of the cabin (to get the most enjoyment out of the stream) and added a bathroom, kitchen and sitting area to the back. we have added a second story with a master suite and additional bathroom.
As native Floridians, we have always wanted a place to escape the heat in the summer and enjoy the change of seasons the rest of the year. North Carolina is perfect for both of these.

Why they chose this property

We have visited the Sylva area for 40+ years and feel like it is our second home. We plan to retire there for part of the year so we have furnished the cabin with all of the comforts we would want to have.

What makes this property unique

There is nowhere we would rather be than sitting in the swing overlooking the creek in the summer or in front of the stone fireplace in cold weather. It is truly one of the most relaxing places you'll ever be. The scenery is constantly changing depending upon the season and the time of day. The creek can be seen and heard from most rooms of the house. The new Master bedroom has views on three sides from the bed.
