About this property

★ Centrally Located - Alberta Arts -Perfect for Families! The Ginkgo House ★

Portland is all about its neighborhoods. Alberta Arts is an iconic one.
Here’s also why you’ll love it here:
★WALKABLE LOCATION★ Located in the heart of the Alberta Arts District and boasting a 90+ walk score, The Ginkgo House is within a block of hot restaurants, bars, breweries, yoga, shops + more .
LOCATION doesn’t get better. Privacy with amenities at your fingertips. We are within three blocks to vibrant Alberta Street, the Kennedy School or New Seasons Grocery, the dispensary, liquor store, and around the corner from coffeehouses, bars, and restaurants headlined by well-known chefs: farm-to-table cuisine, fusion meals, craft cocktails, and so much more – a real foodie haven! You can finally relax. and work or study if you need to. (best WIFI available and a desk) Welcome!

★WELL APPOINTED and CLEAN★ We’ve left no detail ignored. From spices to bottle openers, from complimentary toiletries to plenty of linens. We were cleaning to Germs standards before it was widely mandated

★OUTDOOR LIVING★ The neighborhood is very family-friendly. Take a quick walk to one of our nearby cafes, or even parks (with playgrounds)
The cute front patio sports a table and chairs, plus a gas BBQ for your use. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee and the fresh Oregon air, while planning your area adventures. Good place to relax, chat on the phone or have a cuppa

★ STREET LEVEL ACCESS★ No steps entrance / into beds
There is also Ring doorbell Video camera at the front entrance as an added security measure.
★LAYOUT:★
✺ King Bedroom: King-sized bed, Smart TV/DVD, desk with chair, and access to the hallway bathroom. A crib is available, upon request.
✺ Street-level Twin Room: 2 twin beds shares a bathroom with King bedroom. We can add a mattress of need be. You must request it prior so we can make it and set it out for you.

* It looks as though VRBO has changed the way they word their fees. The cleaning fee is now being called a "host fee" The other fees belong to VRBO and our lodging taxes go to the city. However, we do not have sales tax here. So, you can plan on buying "all the things."
Rates re set
When you arrive, however, we don’t have any sales tax here, so everything you eat and drink and purchase will be at face value.

There is another apartment upstairs, and there may be some noise transfer. We supply a noise machine as well as earplugs shall you find you need them. Otherwise, it is rarely an issue.

There is a Ring Video doorbell at the front door, and you'll have your own private door code sent via the welcome letter..

Great stay
Good stay. Great location. Kitchen needs some non stick pans and a whisk. The couch needs to be upgraded to better quality. There was a mini crib available, which worked out great. The king bed was a plus!

great place, would reccomend
Wonderful neighborhood, with great proximity to Alberta street shopping and restaurants. We stayed 4 nights, with our 17 and 21 year old children. The place was very clean, comfortable, and supplied everything we needed. (comfortable beds, quality bedding, extra fans, games, kitchen ware, even a washer and dryer). The walls are thin, so you can hear the upstairs neighbors- it was not a problem in our case, but might be if you have littles who go to sleep early. Great place, would reccomend.

everything and more than expected
Clean, perfect location to walk to eat, drink adventure. Host was very very nice and answered all questions, offered lots of great suggestions, included a brochure for stuff to do around town. The house was in perfect condition. We will certainly try to stay here on our next trip back.

I’ve lived in, and loved, Portland for 26 years. My children and I love exploring greater Portland and especially our own front yard: the creativity and vibrance of Alberta Street – the restaurants and food trucks, galleries, and shops that our neighborhood has to offer. Salt and Straw and Bollywood and Petite Provence are some of my favorites.

Of course, we love sharing Alberta Street and our close- in neighborhood with other families, too. And, we hope you will too!

Why they chose this property

Northeast Portland and, specifically, the Alberta Arts District offers the best of the The City of Roses: so many incredible eateries (restaurants, food trucks/ street carts, cafés, breweries, and more!), shops, music venue, yoga, bars, pubs, and other creative outlets, just minutes from our front door.

You can walk to the grocery store and pharmacy, liquor store or dispensary. We have EASY access to several public transportation routes and highways to downtown, the coast, Columbia Gorge, Wine Country, Hood River, and Multnomah Falls.
Alberta Street is also close to downtown (just ~15 minutes by car) and very convenient to the airport, too. Free Ample Street Parking for your car(s).

To us, this is the best of all worlds in Portland.

What makes this property unique

The Ginkgo Guest House is a newer building in a lovely residential neighborhood, and it has everything you need. Over the years, we’ve learned from our guests and gone beyond the basics (fast WiFi, amenities) to slowly add all the bells and whistles – everything from hip furnishings and a washer/dryer, right down to complimentary toiletries and a fully equipped kitchen.
