About this property

Relaxing Island Cottage

“The Cottage” is an ideal vacation home for that special time to reclaim your life for a week or two (or longer). It has comfortable accommodations for up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms. Available for shorter term in the winter off season and weekly throughout the summer. If you want to eat in, we have a fully applianced and equipped kitchen with cathedral ceilings and skylight, for laundry there’s a washer & dryer. 1 bathroom w/shower inside plus an outside hot shower at the spacious back deck with a Weber gas grill, a private back yard, nice covered front porch for morning coffee while the sun rises, Wi-Fi high speed internet for e time , bedroom cabinets & hanging closet for plenty of clothes space and wood floors throughout. The bathroom is recently re-tiled floor and walls. The house is furnished with 1 queen & 1 full size bed and all kitchen utensils (some say enough for a banquet). There are several swimming areas and a small boat launch very close by. Golf course is 5 minutes down the road. Located in a quiet and private neighborhood, about a 10 minute bicycle ride to the town center, plenty of off street parking. Located at East Shore Rd. and Decatur Ave. This is a great place as a quieter alternative to a busier town but with very quick access to those types of areas. Jamestown's a great place for bicycle riding, boating, beaching / swimming, walking, fishing, golfing or doing nothing. Quality restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and parks create a genuine village feeling at the town center. Take an easy 10 minute scenic ride over the Newport Pell bridge to visit Newport for a day touring in the city by the sea or take the passenger ferry (bring your bicycle) to Newport. Guests can also catch a ride on the Block Island Ferry from Newport or the Martha’s Vineyard Ferry from North Kingstown to Block Island. Both ferries will have you at their destination in about 1.5 hrs.
Treat yourself to an island vacation that you have only dreamed of doing. Leave the harried pace behind to come explore an area rich in history, culture and tranquility. It’s an easy 3 – 4 hr. drive from most places in the northeast, NY & NJ. Why not?
Our 5 star reviews reflect the level of satisfaction our past guests have had. You could be the next to experience “The Cottage”.
This isn't rustic, some may say it's quaint or cozy, but I call it a small, simply beautiful island cottage that can make your summer a truly enjoyable one to remember. Bring your bicycles, kayak, surfboards / windsurfers, golf clubs, books, fishing gear or yard games. We have the grill, deck furniture and island ambiance.
Book early as reservations start to come in early January.
This is a non smoking property and we do not allow pets for the comfort of all our guests.

Weekly rentals start at end of May and go to early Sept. Rental period must be made to go Saturday to Saturday, no exceptions for the summer period. Be sure to adhere to this when making reservation request. Spring, fall and winter 3 night minimum and can be any days of the week as available. Also inquire about longer terms for the winter.

Perfect Hideaway
This little gem was perfect for my wife and me. It was exactly as advertised - Not a huge house but very well stocked, comfortable, in a quiet area but only a short drive to all types of activities. Only minutes from Narragansett and Newport. We had a great time wandering around Fort Wetherill State Park in Jamestown as well as the "downtown" area along Narragansett ave where there are plenty of nice places to eat. Another day we took a trip into Newport to do the Cliff Walk. Here is a great tip...Park at the Newport Transportation and visitor's Centre. The city trolleys are free during the summer and the driver will give you a voucher that will lower the parking to $5.00. If the driver has none, go in the visitors centre and ask for one. Host Marty was an absolute joy to deal with. All our questions were answered promptly and accurately. He even provided a big bag of ice in the freezer so we could enjoy a nice cold beverage after a long drive to Rhode Island. The front and back decks are spacious and great for relaxing with a morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks, Marty!

Privacy and quiet
The home is perfect. Clean! Situated next to a green space, all I heard was crickets and frogs. The owner has provided everything you need for comfort and responds quickly via the app if you have any questions. The kitchen is fully equipped. The front porch is the perfect place for an end-of-day glass of wine or coffee in the morning. It's an easy 10-15 minute drive into Newport but don't skip visiting the town center of Jamestown. I hated to leave. If you're thinking about staying here, don't hesitate.

Darling, comfortable cottage minutes from great sites.
My husband and sister in law were with me in Jamestown to visit their grandsparents' neighborhood from the 50s and 60s. The cottage was spotless and well equiped. Tasteful and comfortable. Marty was very responsive to any questions. We just wished we could stay a bit longer!

About the host

Hosted by Marty Casey

Host profile image
Marty grew up in Newport and then moved to Jamestown to raise his family. After 20 years he now lives with his wife, Martha, back in Newport. They enjoy their grandsons, the local beaches (especially surfing), traveling, bicycling, sailing, gardening and hosting their cottage guests.

Why they chose this property

The cottage is maintained and updated to ensure our guests are comfortable and will enjoy their stay. The cottage is featured in an historical book published by a local historian. Conveniently located near direct roads but removed enough to enjoy island tranquility. Guests can enjoy their own deck, back yard, and living areas without distraction from other vacationers as in a shared complex or building.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is set close to water front access areas and other family style activities. For those that want nightlife ...you can be in Newport in 7 minutes! Close to the town center and great restaurants. All the amenities of an apartment or condo but you have the privacy of your own house. A quiet neighbor hood with only a few single family residences nearby.
