Beautiful landscape...but...

  • 3 of 5

Very peaceful and pretty, great if you want to get away from it all.

Needs some upgrades and a good cleaning. No TV service. Beware of the long drive up the driveway and long drives to get to everything site seeing wise.

great get away destination

  • 5 of 5

Very nice and well stocked vacation home on very secluded beautiful spot - lake views are fantastic! Generally convenient to most of the best of Cape Breton Island.

A suggestion to owner: it would be nice to have a written document on local sites, trails, shopping, etc, along with a rough map.

Caretaker very helpful (and very nice!) for renters

Peace and nature, what more does one need

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with the whole family here for 6 days. The cabin was very nice, the owners and the caretaker provided us with everything we needed inside the house as well as kayaks and canoes to explore the lake. Next time we will come either earlier in the year or later as we missed trout season for fishing but we nailed the right 2 weeks for the black flies, something most of the family dealt with and it wasn't unbearable. This of course does not reflect on the cabin or location itself, simply the time of year. The sights, clean air and nature sounds were amazing, something best enjoyed early in the AM when the water is calmer, later in the evening we made fires in the beautiful fireplace inside the cabin and played one of the many board-games provided. It was great, would highly recommend this place as well as Cape Breton in general. Thanks Irene for mailing my laptop charger back and for your great hospitality. :)

Heaven on Bras D'or Lake!

  • 5 of 5

6 of us (2 couples and 2 children ages 6 and 19mo.) stayed 5 nights here and enjoyed every minute. The cottage is clean, comfortable and cozy. It's older with new touch-ups, giving you a retro cabin experience with modern touches. It's very well cared for. We loved using the fire place, canoes and kayaks. It's quiet, secluded and yet close enough to anything we wanted and needed as we toured the entire Island during our stay. The views from all around the property are stunning with lots of space to relax and explore. Our host was as lovely, kind and welcoming as you imagine a Cape Bretoner to be. She immediately made us feel at home, was ready to provide us with anything we needed and quickly felt like an old friend. We would come back to stay in a heartbeat - thank you for a wonderful stay!
