tolerable but not great

  • 3 of 5

the landlord was very good about sending cleaning and maintenance crew to clean and repair as needed. no major repairs - toilet, closet light, screen door....but cleaning was needed for the cupboards, floors, windows, etc. also, my husband (6'3") had to duck going from kitchen area to bedroom area. lol. pictures make it look much better than real life. it was inexpensive compared to other places. best thing I can say about it.

Cozy amenities filled stay next to the park

  • 5 of 5

Mark's place has all of the needs for a solo traveler with a dog as was the case with me. The apartment is not big, but then again I didn't need much more space. The bedroom is big enough with a couch on the side for options on watching TV, which has a full cable package. Large kitchen and fridge, plenty of room for your food and cooking. There's a side alcove where I set up my shop for work. The laundry is in a shared space in another room. I was there for a month and never saw the other tenants, other than entering & leaving the house above. If privacy is important, you'll have it here. The park is right across the street and its perfect if you have a dog, we walked in the park every day.

The place was everything I needed, but there are always caveats. It's below another dwelling so you'll hear footsteps and occasional conversations. The shower is tiny and the ceilings are just above 6 feet. If you're a tall person (I'm not), you could bonk your head. The appliances and decor is either outdated or vintage depending on your take. But they all work just fine.

Mark is very reasonable and quick to respond to inquiries. Kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea, water, and food for cooking (flour, sugar, and spices). Neighborhood is quiet and safe. And there's plenty of off-street parking, I always had a spot out front where I could see my car from the kitchen. Not to mention your 5 minutes from downtown and 5 mins to the interstate.

This property fit our needs perfectly.

  • 4 of 5

We needed a place to stay in Minneapolis for two weeks and this property fit our needs perfectly. We have two dogs and did not want to stay in an expensive hotel for two weeks. This quant property was able to provide us with a dog friendly place where we could cook our own meals and have a base while we were in town. The diamond in the rough was the trail system across the street at Wirth Park and the great neighborhood the house is located in. We spent hours exploring the trails an truly enjoyed the park. If you are looking for a B&B with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you but if you just need a place to hang your hat for a short period of time it is great. Sarah the property manager was wonderful. She was very helpful and Johnny on the spot for our needs. The property was clean and had enough items so that we could cook and eat our own meals. The two drawbacks were if there were people upstairs their movements were annoying and also the heat is regulated from upstairs. Having access to the laundry room was an added plus. I would recommend this property to my friends.

Theodor Wirth get away!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location of this little get away. We rode our bikes around the lakes several times a week in our month long stay. It was also centrally located to so many of our family members so that we could jump on the freeway from different convenient locations and see them with ease. The shower was a bit small but other than that we were very comfortable.

Not an Inn

  • 1 of 5

When I booked my stay, this property was titled "Wirth Park Inn" and the description stated that the owner lived upstairs. Neither claim was true. This is not an inn, it is living in some guy's basement. The owner was, in fact, out of the country and would be so for several months. A week before my arrival date, I got an email from "A friend of the owner" who said she would be meeting me upon arrival as "the owner was not available." The day before my arrival she texted me to say she would not be able to meet me after all as she would be at a wedding for the weekend. We found the place, found the keys and settled in. There is no thermostat in the unit. The upstairs unit controls the temperature in the basement. I had a phone number for the friend who was at the wedding, and for the handyman. Never met the friend, but the handyman was most accommodating. The decor is mid-century thrift shop. The selection of cable channels is minimal. The oven is just plopped against a wall and without a vent overhead and every time I opened the oven door while cooking the fire alarm went off. The air conditioning died, and was out for a week. The owner did give us a partial refund for the days we were without A/C but that didn't make it any more comfortable in the room. The pictures on the web site show the wonders that can be accomplished with a wide-angle lens: This place is tiny. On the plus side, my dog was allowed to stay with us, there are laundry facilities on site, though the folks that rented the upstairs unit had many troubles trying to get access. Wirth Park is right across the street and that was lovely. I would not rent this unit again, ever, and I caution you to think twice before you do.

This property was a big let down. The area had many uncared for homes and the property needed attention. The grass was not cut and the unit was in need of updating. The door was very hard to open and that led to a couch that was dated. The ceiling was very low and the bed and couch were next together in a unusually tight. We did not stay and requested a refund but it has not been granted. I don't feel I would use this site again because it ended up costing me way more money as we then had to check in to a hotel. BIG mistake!! No stars.
