This is a real cottage with rustic charm, at the end of a quiet dead-end street, nestled against a lovely wooded lot. The cottage provides a private, quiet atmosphere, in which this small Lake Erie community can be enjoyed. Orchard Street is an easy walk to downtown Port Stanley, its shops, and restaurants. The neighborhood is a quiet one, with well maintained houses and cottages. A 10 minute walk over the bridge to Main Beach, and only 5 minute level walk to Little Beach, which is just along Main Street with no busy roads to cross.
The cottage has a private driveway with parking for 2 to 3 cars, and extra parking on the street. Plenty of level lawn space for outside activities. There is a raised front porch for quiet sitting. There is also a rear covered deck off the living room. The master bedroom has French doors that open directly to its own outside patio. This cottage comes fully furnished, and features an open concept kitchen, dining / family room for easy living through out. The cottage has Wi-Fi.
Wood floors give the house a comfortable feel and make for convenient cleanup. The front door brings you into the dining room, which has a large oak table that can comfortably seat 10 people. Steps down to the living room with its authentic wood burning fireplace. The fold out couch provides for extra sleeping, there is a large screen TV, and DVD. Patio doors open to the rear covered deck. The deck has an eating table and a barbecue.
The kitchen is well equipped with basic cooking and serving accessories. If you need something specific please make sure to bring on your own.
The main bathroom features a graceful claw foot tub from yesteryear. Great for relaxed soaking.
Three good size bedrooms, two doubles and a queen. (We do not provide linens, so please bring your own pillows, sheets blankets, towels etc.)
The master bedroom is on two levels, with steps down to a walkout patio. The master bedroom has its own private Jacuzzi tub. Queen size bed.
The second bedroom has a double bed.
The third bedroom is in the lower area, and is exceptionally quiet, nice and cool on hot summer days. It does not have big windows and is great for sleeping in. It is equipped with its own private washroom, with a stand-up shower.
There is also a small loft area with a double mattress, great for older children that are capable of safe ladder climbing.
The basement has some storage and a full-size washer and dryer.
Currently we are only renting by the week. Friday Noon until Thursday 6pm. The rate is $1000/week during the peak season, (May 31 through until October 17) ($800/week March 29 through until May 30, and also October 18 through until January 2, 2014) ($500/week January 3 through until March 28)
We offer a $100 discount on 2nd or subsequent weeks, providing the weeks are adjoined.
A $500 deposit is also required in addition to any prepaid rental.
This deposit will be applied towards any damages and/or cleaning as may be required.
The refund or partial refund of the deposit will be returned within a week of your departure, and will be accompanied by a detailed account.
Pets are welcome; however there is a $100 pet deposit in addition to the usual deposit.
It is tricky on the beach with dogs. The main beach is well patrolled, especially during the day. I have a husky that loves to cool off in the lake. I take her over to Erie Beach, or to Little Beach. The bylaw officers are far more tolerant on these two beaches.
After dark and early in the morning before the humans come is the best time for the dogs to enjoy the beach and the water.
