Peace and quiet surrounds you. Awaken in your cozy loft bed to the songbirds' serenade. Enjoy your self-prepared breakfast on the deck with freshly brewed coffee or tea. On your way back to the cabin, pick up some fresh seafood at The Fishery or some crab at Centennial Dock. Add to this some fresh produce from the Street Market and a bottle of wine from one of the local vineyards to make a delicious island meal. Then bask in the balmy warmth of a summer evening on the private deck at the cabin.

Have a fabulous vacation!

Perfect retreat location
What a quaint and cozy cabin in a peaceful orchard, just minutes from town. Well set up and had everything I needed for a couple of days of ‘getting away’.

Cute place - has wasps!
This little cabin on an orchard is adorable. Its perfectly located close to town. The cabin needs some maintenance so watch out for things like nails sticking out of walls that might grab your skin in the small quarters. We went mid-August and the whole island is busting with ripe fruit so wasps are definitely about and this cabin is located on an orchard so wasps are a plenty. There were 2 wasp nests were on the cabin and my husband got stung. Be warned and make an informed choice if you don't want to hang with wasps, especially if you have an allergy.

Comfortable and Relaxed Cottage
The stay in the cottage was wonderful. Simple and easy check-in. The cottage is in a little private orchard at the back of the property but next to where you park your car. There are little trails down to the village, which we walked to go get coffee and breakfast. My kids really loved hanging with Mojo the dog that lives at the property. This is our second time staying at this property and it’s a lovely, simple, hassle free and relaxing stay. Thanks!

Great spot
Great, rustic cottage. Wish we’d had more time to relax and enjoy the property in the evenings. Stayed with our 7 year old and dog, it was perfect. Mojo was a super host. .

I am a long time islander. I have lived here for most of my life and my family roots go back to the 1930's and 40's. My great-grandparents farmed on the north end of the island, boating their produce around the 'Hook' to Ganges every Saturday during the summer - the original Salt Spring Farmer's Market.
I have 2 fantastic sons, one 27 and one 14, and a friendly Black Lab named Mojo. I am also a pharmacist at the Pharmasave in Ganges.
I have travelled extensively to Australia, Mexico, and the USA, and have spent many vacations exploring BC and Vancouver Island. Having stayed in a wide variety of accommodations I realized that simple and relaxed, private and convenient, comfortable and casual were the most appealing features of my vacation accommodations.
As a dog person, I really appreciate being able to travel with my dog. He is an important part of our family and travelling without him would be like leaving one of the kids at home!

Why they chose this property

In 2010 we decided to share our cabin as a vacation rental so others could come and discover the magic that is Salt Spring Island.
The cabin was just a sleeping cabin when we bought the house in 2002. Our friend, Jeremiah Hart, moved into the cabin soon after and traded rent for renovations. Jeremiah lived in the cabin for 5 years and, with his masterful use of space and natural materials, transformed it into a lovely little self-contained cabin that is comfortable summer and winter. The main feature is the deck situated under a large apple tree where you can relax in the peace and quiet of the backyard orchard.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is a short walk to shopping and restaurants in the village of Ganges. Dog walking and hiking trails are easily accessed just steps from the cabin. Wine tours, boat cruises, fishing expeditions, whale watching, parks, scenic drives, swimming lakes, and beaches are a short drive away.
