Welcome to MOOSEHEAD LODGE LOCATED SLOPE-SIDE, above the village and the magic carpet, with easy ski in ski out access from Rambler and Sunrise runs. This beautiful luxury timber framed chalet sleeps 14 and features high/cathedral ceilings throughout and sweeping views of the village and Mt Morrisey.

Truly one of the best homes available in Sun Peaks, Moosehead Lodge has been exquisitely furnished with radiant floor heating throughout, a gourmet kitchen, European appliances, leather lounges, luxury bedding and a large private outdoor sunken hot tub. Cable and WiFi are available and the lower entertainment area also features a pool table and PS 3 for the young at heart. Refer to our photo gallery to see for yourself.

What makes this chalet unique

Entering from the majestic timber front doors this timber framed chalet welcomes you with high ceilings and enormous windows offering sweeping views over the village to Mt Morrisey.

The large upper level includes a spacious entrance hall, master bedroom (with king bed, cable tv, ensuite, fire place and private balcony) guest bathroom, laundry (with direct internal access to double garage) and ski room with access to the slopes.

Stepping down to the main level you will enjoy a large gourmet open plan kitchen with quality appliances (including a Nespresso coffee machine and climate controlled wine fridge) 12 seater solid timber dining table and large living/entertainment area with leather lounges, tv and imposing fireplace. The heated slate flooring adds an extra element of luxury. A large balcony wraps around the front of the house and french doors provide easy access to the Weber Gas BBQ.

Traveling down the wide timber staircase to the lower level you will find a second master king bedroom (also with ensuite and balcony) a large queen bedded room adjacent to a third fully appointed bathroom and 8 adult bunks with sturdy timber frames, all with luxury mattresses and bedding.

The lower level also features an expansive 2nd entertainment area with leather lounges, fire place, PS3, an 8 ft pool table and large private sunken outdoor spa with views to Mt Morrisey.

Absolute luxury

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moosehead Lodge on three, two week vacations. The accommodation is luxurious and very well appointed. The five bedrooms are beautifully presented and each occasion the 14 in our party slept extremely comfortably. The living spaces have been well thought out allowing adults to relax in the upstairs open lounge with fireplace and expansive views of Mt Morrissey whilst the young people have downstairs with PS3, a pool table and the hot tub. The large kitchen with high-end appliances is a delight to cook in allowing us to enjoy gourmet meals using produce and supplies sourced by Sunpeaks Groceries. A highlight is the beautiful location of Moosehead Lodge with easy ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes. I have booked my fourth stay to Moosehead Lodge for 2015 and can’t wait to return there.

Where do you live?

Beautiful house, owner should attend to details

We shared Moosehead Lodge with two other families over the Presidents Day weekend high season. It was very, very expensive, but this is the way to do it: split among 2-3 families to make it more affordable. The house is beautiful, with plenty of room for people to stretch out. It was perfect to have kids hang out on the bottom floor, where's a pool table, hot tub, large screen TV, and video games. Adults hang out in the large living room, kitchen, dining area. We had a great time, and the skiing was fantastic.

Now, the negatives. The owners could easily make guests much more comfortable if they would attend to a few details. First, the house phones were not working. Our group ended up paying about $100 in international cell phone charges (we're from the U.S.) to communicate with several other groups of friends who were also at Sun Peaks. When we asked about the phones, all we got was a reply that said, it's an internet-based phone; it should work. Well, it didn't!!

Also, the lighting is dim all over. It's especially crucial in the kitchen and in the bathrooms. Second, they provided almost NO TOILETRIES! That just seems cheap. It's easy to have small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotions. We assumed it would be provided, as all the other houses we've rented at Sun Peaks had them. Instead, we needed to buy that. Also, there wasn't enough toilet paper, if you can believe that. We had to take toilet paper from one bathroom to share with the other bathrooms. Not cool! Finally, the driveway is steep, and when covered with snow an ice, it's a REAL HAZARD. Two people in our party slipped and fell. One broke a bone! If you're going to spend millions to build a luxury home, why not have heat the driveway? Or at the least, pay for a plowing service to come each morning after it snows. The owners should realize that the driveway is a real liability. Some day, some guest will bring a lawsuit after getting injured.

Words of advice: iron out all those details with the owners prior to renting. Insist on toiletries, enough toilet paper, and a working phone. Try to get them to put in brighter light bulbs. And very importantly, ask them to hire a plow or snowblower service for the hazardous driveway. If you do all that, you will have a wonderful time!

Owner's Response: It is always great to get feedback from our visitors-we are so thrilled that you enjoyed the lodge.When you consider 2/3 families can comfortably share the great family home it becomes very economical- with per family outlay less than hotel/single family places.Loads more fun with separate areas to relax within the lodge.Whether playing pool,sharing a drink in the large outdoor hot tub or chatting while preparing meals in the large kitchen we have tried to ensure the lodge has it all. Being able to ski in/out means the group can come and go as they please and there are no expensive hotel/restaurant meals. It is also fun cooking and all eating together at the family table before the kids adjourn downstairs for pool,spa or PS3 and movies-leaving those more inclined for a quiet chat upstairs looking at the fire and the expansive views of Mt Morrisey. Lighting is largely a personal taste and we have made it appropriate for what we think is enjoyable. The management can of course source other bulbs on request if required. Be assured the house phone and internet are fully operational and have been since installed save for one recent occasion where there was a connection issue with the provider which situation is of course beyond our control as owners. Regrettable but sometimes these things do happen despite everyone's best efforts. All basic amenities are there:garbage bags,dish liquid,coffee for filter, toilet paper,washing powder & hand soap.These are topped up on request. As owners we think high end users do prefer their own personal choice for toiletries including shampoo and bodywash(rather than the basic small bottles you get in a hotel). Having travelled extensively ourselves we have never expected toiletries to be provided in a lodge/home rental environment but if you particularly want to buy items this can be requested and if possible ordered for you by our efficient management team.They live/work at the resort and are always available to address any guest concerns. There is garage space for 2 cars.We do not recommend parking on/walking up and down the driveway in winter for obvious reasons.We have a regular clearing service provided by management and always use snow covered side of the drive to walk/ski up and down as of course the cleared drive (and any pathway in the snow) is inevitably slippery. Moosehead is relatively new and we are always working on ways to improve guest enjoyment and give due consideration to the guest input.
