About the property

You'll love the short walk to the beach or the short drive to Pocono attractions

You can save hundreds over the resorts plus enjoy the convenience of your own private getaway at our Chalet. Perfect for family vacations, hikers, skiers, hunters, adventure seekers, or for those who just want to get away from it all. If you are looking for a home that stands out from the crowd, is just the right size, and will be a memorable vacation for you and yours, read on!

Our Chalet features a new, fully stocked kitchen with copper cookware and granite counter tops, wood burning stove, a flat screen TV with cable and free WiFi for your convenience. The entire interior has been painted and updated and includes a new laundry center. You will love the cozy privacy of the master bedroom, and kids both young and old will love the sleeping loft upstairs which is stocked with games, including a retro video game system. The living area features plush leather sofas and a beautiful vaulted, pine paneled ceiling with recessed spotlights and skylights. Outdoors, we have one of the few backyards in the development which is cleared and big enough for outdoor games. There is a huge wraparound deck with teakwood chairs and table, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs.

Our location simply cannot be beat for the price, as we are less than a five minute walk to the best beach on the largest lake in the development. We are also centrally located to most major Pocono attractions. In addition, the community of Locust Lake Village has much to offer. Spend the day boating, swimming, and sunning at Pines Lake beach, or step outside your back door and into over 25,000 acres of nature in state game lands #127. There are four lakes with lifeguards, concession stands, bathrooms and playgrounds are available as well as weekly activities. Basketball and tennis courts, and baseball and soccer fields are nearby at East Lake. In the winter, enjoy the village's two ski slopes or the sledding hill. Wristbands are required and available at the main office.

Winter is the time when most people think about the Poconos. The village has its own ski slope and sledding hill, as well as ice skating and ice fishing when the lakes are frozen over. Or you can venture out to nearby Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Camelback, or other famous ski and tubing destinations. There are over 185 trails in the area. Check in at the village office when you arrive for wristbands, discounts, and current conditions. Then again, there's nothing wrong with building a fire in our soap stone stove and curling up under a big blanket with your favorite beverage!

Spring is perfect for wildlife watching, and a great time to rent while crowds and rates are low. Outdoor activities awaken with blooming foliage and moderate temperatures. It's a great time for hiking, biking, birdwatching, boating, picnics, and golf.

Spend a fall afternoon hiking or sightseeing and relax at night at our fire pit. The Chalet has everything you need for your family vacation.

The summer brings with it all the Poconos has to offer, including cool evening temperatures and clear skies in the mountains. Lakes, rivers and waterparks are numerous. Adventure seekers will want to check out zip lining, whitewater rafting, and adventure courses. Concerts, festivals, and fireworks are constant in the area. At night, relax at our fire pit and enjoy stargazing away from the city lights.

Beautiful colors and low crowds highlight the fall season. Check out the changing mountain scenery with tours, hikes, or train rides. Our chalet is a great base for hunting, boating and fishing excursions. Or spend your time touring nearby wineries, fairs and farmer's markets.

There is so much to do year round in the Pocono Lake area. A short drive takes you to major ski resorts, championship golf, hiking, and adventure. Split Rock, Jack Frost, and the newly expanded Kalahari indoor water park are 15 minutes away. Experience the excitement of the Pocono Raceway, the Mt. Airy Casino, Camelback Resort or travel to Scranton or Wilkes Barre for sporting and cultural events. The area also features numerous farmers markets and antique shops, as well as outlet shopping.

About Craig and Sue Snyder

Craig and Sue Snyder live in Garnet Valley, PA. We are both music teachers who enjoy the outdoors.

Craig and Sue Snyder purchased this chalet in 2015

Why Craig and Sue Snyder chose Locust Lake Village

We always wanted a place in the mountains where we could hike, golf, kayak, and most importantly, just relax. This property is perfect for us and we hope it will be perfect for your vacation. We have renovated the chalet from top to bottom and continue to make improvements.

What makes this chalet unique

This home could not be in a better location in the village. For families, being able to walk to the beach on the largest lake in the development is amazingly convenient. For hunters, you are able to step right off the property into the state game lands. And for skiers, the village boasts two private slopes as well as proximity to the greatest skiing in the Poconos.

But it's the property itself that is the real attraction. The pine paneled ceiling with its recessed lighting and skylights creates that "vacation home" feeling as soon as you walk in. The main room is a wonderful place to gather and play board games. The sleeping loft is great for the kids, while the adults can enjoy the privacy of two downstairs bedrooms. Our kitchen has all the conveniences of home, and you can do your laundry right on the premises.

Outside, we are proud to have one of the few grass backyards in the development, with room to throw the ball or frisbee around. Our fire pit is yours to use (wood not provided) and includes 8 Adirondack chairs. The deck is a great place to relax and eat your meals in the crisp mountain air. Sit outside in the early morning or dusk and catch a glimpse of white tailed deer in the woods, or just enjoy the absence of lawn mowers, street and air traffic, air conditioners, and other noisemakers that invade our lives. When you spend your vacation at our chalet, you will only notice the quiet, the fresh air, and your proximity to nature.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This house certainly brought back memories from when my grandparents used to have a house in the Poconos. The house was almost identical. Sue and Craig were very nice people. The house was extremely cozy and most important clean. The location is within a private community WITHOUT the hassle of additional fees like some other. The drive to the ski mountains is quick and easy. We drove to Jack Frost during the day and Boulder at night. Beds are extremely comfortable which you see a lot in rentals. Sue and Craig also let us know that there were no renters checking in immediately before or after us. They allowed us to check in anytime and check out at anytime. These types of accommodations I look for when interacting with home owners. People spend a lot of money for their families to go away. There has been times where home owners have NOT been as accommodating as Sue and Craig. That premise alone, I would rent from them fact if my wife didn't hurt her foot we were going to rent the following weekend again! :)

What a wonderful location and place to visit. So much for the family to do!

  • 5 of 5

The house is packed with everything you could possibly need to make your stay perfect. We enjoyed tubing at Big Boulder, Skiing at Jack Frost and long hikes through the woods. The kids had a blast and didn’t want to leave. Everything you need from groceries, to restaurants, stores and much more is within a 10 minute car ride. The Snyder’s provide a wonderful family atmosphere that we will remember for ever. Thanks for sharing you house with us!! We will definitely be back!

Skiing and Swimming and Bears...oh my!

  • 5 of 5

Didn't really see any bears, but we did have to dodge a deer or two. Had a great time in this centrally located chalet. We used this as our base for skiing and the water park. Had a decent dinner at Tratorria 903 outside Jim Thorpe on the way up and Piggy's in Lake Harmony was a really cute breakfast place that we recommend.

Cabin was comfortable and the owners leave easy to follow instructions for the heating and hot water. Looks like it could be equally fun in the Summer. Thanks to the Snyders for letting us share their home for our mini-vacation. We're jealous of their mountain getaway!

The cabin was exactly as advertised. Very cute cabin in the woods feel. The furnishings definitely gave it a woodsy vibe.
