LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION - Bayside apartment on gorgeous Sail Bay. 30 feet from the water, an unobstructed water view. Located in North Mission Beach. A five minute walk to the beautiful Catamaran Resort. Two short blocks to the Ocean. Step out your door and walk, jog, bike, skate, Fifteen miles of bayfront boardwalk and five miles of oceanfront boardwalk.

This unit is on the ground-floor of a duplex (owner's live upstairs). Owners on all sides of this home live in their homes year round. This is not a party house. Quiet area, great for families. Large private patio with gas barbecue, plenty of room for outdoor dining. Bedroom #1 has a queen bed, plenty of closet space, mirrors, quiet and cool.

Bedroom #2 is large with two double beds, a TV, sink vanity and plenty of closet space. This room looks out to the bay. Enjoy the fabulous bay view from the kitchen and living room. The living room has a beautiful wall of mirror, and a very large bay window. Enjoy the Sea World fireworks from your easy chair.

Public transportation one block. La Jolla, Sea World, Zoo, Airport, and all major attractions within minutes away. Shopping and great restaurants within walking distance.

About Terry Keefer

We are so blessed that my Grandmother Minnie bought this property for her home. For many years she lived in the downstairs unit and rented full time the upstairs apartment.

I have many fond memories of my years at her home. All of my 4 children have spent every summer from birth to adulthood in her apartment. In the early sixties she started renting 2 weeks every summer to a friends family. She would stay with my family. She would also house trade with my family and we would spend 4 weeks. This was the beginning of our summer rental experience. Minnie passed away in 1976 and I became owner. I continued renting, both to full time renters and some vacation renters. In 1986 my husband and I moved into the upstairs apartment full time. We began our weekly rental business around 1990. We built our first webpage, and the rest is history.

Why Terry Keefer chose Mission Beach

She always had a lake house in Washington, so it was just natural for her to be by the Bay. Plus she could live on the property with a income producing apartment. We have gone full circle we live upstairs and rent the downstairs.

What makes this apartment unique

The benefit for us is having everything close. Fresh air, long walks right out your front door. The view is always changing, Sailboats, wind surfers, jet packs. A constant water show. Sail Bay has it all. We even have The beautiful Catamaran Hotel a few blocks North.

Hidden Gem! Location is Awesome

My family of 4 just stayed 5 nights and couldn't have loved our rental more. Perfectly located on quieter Mission Bay Beach Front only two minutes walk across street to Oceanside. The Patio will be your constant seat as the quieter Bayside view is just incredible. Mission Bay sand is three steps across the bike path from Patio gate! The actual rental is two bedroom one bath. Its smaller in size but it wont be a worry. The Kitchen is large with all you need to cook. The one bathroom is small but everything in the place is clean and fresh. I would highly recommend this rental to any party of 4 maybe 5 or fewer people. Being located directly on Mission Bay is just wonderful. Worth every penny and the owners couldn't have been more nice or professional. By far best deal in Mission Bay/Beach area based on location and cost. You think you want ocean beach front but its not very private compared to this property. Everything is within easy access either walking or using Uber.

Great Hospitality in a Magical Spot on Sail Bay

Terry and Tom were amazing hosts and the location can’t be beat. Sail Bay’s beach is your front yard. Conveniently located so you can walk to the shops of Pacific Beach or to the tip of South Mission Beach we lived on foot for the week. If we wanted to go further afield limebikes and scooters and their cousins are everywhere. We cooked on the grill and ate on the patio every night and loved the fact that we could go paddle boarding right in front of our place. Sunsets over the bay from the living room or porch. 2 minute walks to sunsets over the ocean. A perfect escape from the winter doldrums to sunny 70 degree weather and beach life.

Amazing location

Terry & Tom are great people and were very accommodating. We just stayed here for 8 days with our 3 kids and it was great! We had no complaints, it was awesome. The beach is literally right outside the front door. We rented some bikes and locked them up behind the condo with no problems. We also rented a car and although there is no parking at the condo we had no problems finding a place to park on Mission Blvd. I would suggest planning your outings during the week as it's easier to find a spot and spend the weekend by the bay or walk a couple blocks to the beach as parking becomes scarce.

Wonderful Bay location. Terrific beach experience

Terrific location and superb hosts. We've spent a lot of hours sitting on the patio enjoying the bay. You are absolutely protected from the oceanside winds and noise. Spacious kitchen has everything you need. Beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of closet and drawer space to store two weeks worth of clothes. Although a car is helpful, we walked to the post office, grocery store, and other places with ease. Security wall provided a protected space for the dog to lounge in the sun. This unit is a terrific value for a unit right on Mission Bay.

Inferior security resulted in burglary at wonderful beach front rental

I did my research and was impressed upon our arrival at this beach front rental. The first few days were great and we were enjoying our stay. Then upon our return from dinner we realized our rental was burglarized. To make it worse we then discovered that 3 of the windows on the ground floor had no window locks. The finger latches were non existent and the windows moved freely up and down. We had not open the windows and were un-aware that we were vunerable to a robbery and possable physical harm. All of our valuables were stolen including our suitcases to travel home and passports. The thieves were caught on camera at an earlier burglary on the same street carrying knives! We now monitor for identity theft as our passports were also stolen.

Lesson-Always check every window and door and make sure they all work and that your rental is secured.

We did ask for a full refund but it was refused. Terry did pay us $500.00 to pay half of our insurance deductible as she said her home owners policy would not apply.

Because of the neglect of providing a secure safe rental I have given this VBRO 2 stars. I feel that when you spend your hard earned money and stay in another's home safety should be the priority.

I have pictures of the broken locks on the windows but the site does not allow attachments.

Owner's Response: Words cannot express how sorry we are for your loss and inconvenience. This property has been in my family since 1951 and we have never had a break in. Yes, you are correct that 3 of the 10 windows in our unit did not completely lock. However, the window that was entered did not have a broken lock and was in the un locked position. As the property owner I cannot enter when guests leave for dinner and make sure doors and windows are locked. Our heavy duty dual pane International windows have two locking mechanisms The main lock was broken but not the secondary side locks. This lock is so you can partially open window for ventilation and child protection. All locks have been FIXED . If a guest is concerned with safety the first thing they do is check windows and doors. You were in our unit four nights prior to the break in. I have been researching ways to add more window security. I am looking in to heavy cut proof locking screens Guests visit for the beach air, and most times windows are open. I did pay half your insurance deductible plus I reimbursed you in cash for the night you did not stay I also re-keyed all the locks that night, as the second set of keys was taken from the apartment . I have learned there have been a small number of break-ins around the Mission Beach area during the time from December 24th to the end of the year.The SDPD is very involved in protecting our community. I apologize for all of this and I want to assure all of our future renters that we are doing all we can to protect you and your family. My husband and I live upstairs and are directly involved with the security in our duplex. Please feel free to phone me with any concerns you may have. Terry

We are located in North Mission Beach just a few blocks South of Pacific Beach. We can walk to everything. Grocery stores, bike, boat etc rentals, Restaurants Every thing you need is close. We are 10 minutes by car from Sea World or you can walk or bike. One mile south is Belmont park with the giant wooden roller coaster, rides for the kids and more restaurant. The Wave House features surfing without the Ocean.

We are located on Beautiful Sail Bay the most beautiful place in all of Mission Beach.
