Guestbook comments from the owner

I would rate The Red Speck with 5 stars plus! I'm not saying this

because it is going to the owner but because it is an awesome camp and we had a fantastic stay there. We have stayed at other camps and the Red Speck is definitely a home away from home rather than a fishing camp. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and well kept. The upper deck, downstairs area, kitchen, bathroom and large ice maker were all greatly appreciated amenities. It was nice not to have to haul everything up the steps that we were going to use downstairs to cook or fish. Having a bathroom downstairs was a luxury! In addition, there is a private boat launch, 3 boat slips and a 3 carport area which makes it nice for a larger group.

Five adults stayed for 4 nights and 5 days and we enjoyed all the extras the camp had to offer such as a large tv in the living room along with tvs in each bedroom. We thought the location was very good to get to good fishing areas especially with such a long NO WAKE ZONE in the area.

Marc the owner answered any questions or handle any problems we may have had. We really appreciated his willingness to help with giving suggestions and maps of where to fish. As I mentioned before, The Red Speck Camp is a home, not a fishing camp.

I feel Marc takes great pride in his camp and truly wants his renters to

have a good time. We all know however, you can't please all people all the time! We enjoyed our stay tremendously and wouldn't hesitate to rent The Red Speck again!

Annual Destination From Marietta, GA

  • 5 of 5

First stayed at Red Speck in 2011. With exception of 1 year, it has been an annual destination for me & about 8 of my buddies. It has all the amenities of home and then some. We have always found the house and property clean and ready for us to move right in. The owner (Marc) visited us during our most recent trip and asked what the place needed to make our stay better. We all just looked at each other and couldn't come up with a thing. The locals are always extremely nice and helpful, especially the next door neighbor Mr. Charlie. The hunting and fishing in the area is great and 2017 was probably our best year to date. I look forward to many more trips to the area that will include the Red Speck.

Owner's Response: First, thanks for being sick loyal Customers I truly appreciate that. Secondly after seeing how many birds that were shot and how many fish were caught I couldn’t beleive what I saw. That was a trip that you will never forget and thank y’all for leaving me some bags of fish, they went down nice New Year’s Eve. Can’t wait til next year.

Everything we expected!

  • 5 of 5

The camp was very clean and well kept, I cant think of anything that we were disappointed with.

I met Marc just as we were leaving, he was coming to the camp to check on things and do a few maintenance repairs, he is a great guy and really cares about his guests having a great experience. We will be regulars.

Nice home but a lot of things didn't work.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay! But unfortunately the burner didn't work, the air conditioner downstairs didn't work, some doors didn't close or was hard to close, the bedroom tv's didn't work, the bbq pit was gross and needed to be cleaned, the dishwasher didn't work, and the hot water didn't get too hot, and the dock on the left hand side needs resecuring. We still enjoyed our stay even with all of that tho but it would have been nice for all of that to work especially for the price.

Great Fishing Trip - Great Fishing Camp

  • 5 of 5

Cabin very well suited for four fisherman to spend four nights while chasing the "Big Reds" of this area. Four private bedrooms allowed everyone to have privacy and plenty of room. The kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to have breakfast every morning, and three evening meals without any concerns. Living area, with big TV very spacious and each bedroom had it's own TV for those wishing to stay up for late news. Great supply of ice due to ice maker. Unfortunately we did not get to enjoy the beautiful dock and patio area as we had some unusual cold and windy days.

We did experience a little "hiccup" with power one evening, but Marc (the owner) was right on top of it and had us back in business in an hour or so. Could not ask for more from him to get some one out and fix problem.

And yes, we caught lots of fish thanks to our guides, Jeremy Chavez and Ron Ratliff. We do plan to return in 2019 and will definitely stay with Marc and the Red Speck.
