About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Better look elsewhere

  • 2 of 5

Although the location was nice (if you don't mind being in a canyon of condos) the property itself is in bad condition. Hardware, blinds, and sinks are in need of major upgrades/replacement (OK, carpet too) and we had an issue with an unidentified "critter" jumping into one of our laps one night. It appears as if the place has not had any work or furnishing replacement since about 1970. As this review is titled--"better look elsewhere".

Short but good stay

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at the Carnelian Woods condo was comfortable. It was off the main road and thus free of traffic noise. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms were clean. The furniture (including beds) was comfortable. We loved the fireplace and outdoor grill.

This place is "fine"

  • 3 of 5

Pros- Location w/r/t Tahoe and Carnelian Woods generally. Clean.

Cons- A few minor upgrades could be made that would make for a much better experience: the BBQ works but barely; the entertainment options on the TV are very limited (few channels, no ability to access Netflix even with personal account, and all low def), and carpet is dated and fees worn.

All in all, this place is fine but would benefit from a few upgrades.

Owner's Response: We're sorry the guest didn't like the condition of the home. Even though the BBQ remains on the property, it is no longer allowed to be used within the complex and has been taken off the advertised amenity list. Thank you.

Old Dark Depressing

  • 1 of 5

We were very disappointed with the condition of the unit on check in and it only got worse. It appears that this unit has not been updated since it was built about 40 years ago. The carpets were dirty and smelled like sour milk, walls were dirty and needed paint years ago, furniture was dirty and broken, and there was very little natural light and dingy lighting throughout.

The write up also said that there was air conditioning and since we were going to be there in August, counted on this. The 'air conditioning' was actually two fans that did function but were extremely loud. When we chatted with a neighbor, he stated that none of the units had air conditioning.

The next morning it got much worse when the coffee maker would not work, the kitchen lights were flickering, an alarm on the instant hot water maker would go off when ever you tried to use hot water (non existent) and then a complete power failure.

We did stand in the living room and look around and wonder out loud how the photos were taken since we had all the lights on and it was still darker than the photos in the posting.

To put it bluntly, the kitchen needs a full remodel, a new BBQ is essential, new carpet is a must and I personally would have benefited from a few more than the three hangers in the closet. The master bedroom could use a TV.

I would not recommend staying in this unit.

Perfectly ordinary townhouse experience.

  • 3 of 5

The unit we stayed in was your typical "mountain rustic" rental. It was clean and comfortable enough but the décor was very dated (imagine small, mountain town thrift store). The upstairs loft and bedroom were very hot and stuffy so keep that in mind in the summer months. There were 2 fans provided, one box, one oscillating but no AC. Also the twin bed mattresses in the loft were very old and saggy, okay for kids I guess. Overall for the price it's a fine place to stay for a family with a modest budget, we had 3 adults and 3 kids. I would not recommend it for a special occasion though. Nice, quiet location to crash after skiing or being out on the lake all day. Close enough to stores, restaurants and everything you want to enjoy in Tahoe. Also a bit removed from the crazy summer traffic of Kings Beach and Tahoe City. The pool/spa area was also nice.
