Mondegreen Cottage is a beautifully appointed 1450 sq. ft. beach bungalow in a lovely gated community with a pool, 2 hot tubs, tennis courts, beach side firepit, and clubhouse with pool table and fitness room. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday is here; all you need to do is bring your personal effects, pick up some groceries, and then relax and enjoy!

The luxury of Mondegreen Cottage is obvious from the moment you open the door...stone tile entrance, hardwood floors, 9 foot ceilings, 10 foot tray ceiling in the great room, large windows in every room including a wall of windows facing the pool and ocean, and beautiful casings and accents in every room. The entire cottage is well furnished and outfitted for everyday living.

Mondegreen has two large bedroom suites with a queen-size bed, 2 nightstands, dresser, and mirror in each. The linens in each room create a restful haven for guests. A clock/radio is provided in each bedroom for your convenience. There is a beautiful ensuite with large shower in the rear master suite, as well as a large walk-in closet/changing area. If you must work while on holidays, or need a quiet space to read or enjoy doing a jigsaw puzzle, there is an office with a large desk, WIFI, and a sofa-bed. The office has frosted glass French Doors that are beautiful to look at, but also provide privacy if the office must be converted to a sleeping space.

The kitchen/great room area is spectacular! Granite counter tops, ceramic cooktop, electric range, microwave, dishwasher, side-by-side fridge with water and ice maker, large island, and double door pantry adorn the kitchen. Everything you need to cook up a storm is provided. Enjoy a scrumptuous dinner with family and friends at a dining table that can seat 12! When you aren't cooking, you can cuddle up with a book or watch TV in front of the fireplace (cablevision/DVD player included). Or simply watch out the window, enjoying the expansive view of the pool, and a glimpse of the ocean in the distance (~100 meters away!).

Step outside under the covered back patio, where there is a BBQ and a table and chairs to beckon you to enjoy the great outdoors as well. Sit and relax, enjoying the sounds and smells of the ocean. You are only yards from the pool deck and a short 2 minute walk from the beach.

If you want more activity in your day....there are 7 golf courses within 30 minutes of Mondegreen Cottage; kayaking is available in Comox or Parksville; skiing is just 45 minutes away at Mt. Washington; spelunking is just 15 minutes away at Horne Lake Caves; enjoy mini-golf with the kids 5 minutes down the road; go clam digging 20 minutes away at Rathtrevor during low-tide; or enjoy one of the fabulous spas within 20 minutes of the Cottage. Whatever you need to fill your day is just a short distance away.

Mondegreen Cottage is our hideaway. We hope it becomes yours too.

Enjoy our beach home!

About The Owner

I am a small business owner in Calgary and work with individuals with brain dysfunction. It is a very stressful job and I decided that I needed a place for my daughters and I to relax and rejuvenate. Mondegreen Cottage is that place!

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2011

Why The Owner chose Qualicum Beach

I grew up on Vancouver Island and know the area well. I have always loved the Qualicum area and when looking for my restful haven, it was in my top five destinations. When I found Qualicum Landing, I fell in love and knew that this was where I wanted to head to for rest and relaxation, and maybe, down the road, it will be the place where I retire.

What makes this cottage unique

There is nothing more that I could want in this relaxing haven --- a beautifully appointed beach bungalow with easy access to the pool and beach; a gated community with like-minded, active neighbours; great central location for exploring all parts of the island; a quick, 7 minute drive to the friendly and quaint town of Qualicum Beach; close proximity to several world-class spas; and being surrounded by activities and opportunities to explore nature. I can enjoy a quiet walk along the beach, a game of golf, a relaxing spa treatment, and then finish the day with dinner with friends and neighbours. All of this in a single day and I haven't ventured more than a 15 minute drive from Mondegreen Cottage.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the lovely accommodation. Our family loved the area and hope to return again one day.

Beautiful Beach Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this beautiful beach bungalow in Qualicum Landing. The bungalow design was great for the grandmas in our group. Very well stocked with everything we needed and more! We loved working on one of the jigsaw puzzles each evening. We would recommend this unit to anyone and we all would love to stay here again. Thanks!

Every thing you would want

This place had everything! We (5 adults, 2 small children and 1 small dog )happened to be there in not so good weather but because of the pool, hot tub, great beach area and the wonderful, very comfortable well equipped cottage, we had an awesome time!!!!!! There is honestly nothing negative to say. Suzanne has provided more than you could ask for or need in her rental.

Family of 5 (3 kids)

Absolutely loved our stay. We have stayed at a few VRBO's in the USA and Canada and this is certainly above standard for what we have experienced. The house is beautifully kept and nothing is run down (i.e. scrapped frying pans, mismatched cutlery, bedding). My kids repeatedly asked if we could "buy a home like this in a place like this"! We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again in the summer to enjoy all the features of the area in a different season. Fingers crossed that Mondegreen will be available as it is our first choice!!!!

Gorgeous home; great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at Mondegreen Cottage. It is a beautiful home. It's very well stocked and very well maintained. It was a lovely surprise to find the welcome gift in the fridge. Thank you, Suzanne! We also appreciated the welcome basket of coffee and tea, as we checked in late and hadn't purchased groceries yet. On our first morning, we used the go-cups provided and made a cup of the VIA coffee and headed to the beach to enjoy the beauty. It was lovely, and the start of a blissful week. We will definitely be back!

VRBO needs some attention to detail to make it great

  • 3 of 5

My family of 4 (kids 14 and 11) and parents stayed in this townhouse for a week in August. Suzanne is nice and helpful but the townhouse did not live up my expectation during our stay considering the price paid. We own a rental condo and have what I consider average expectations. We don't expect it to be perfect but don't want to get nickled and dimed for things that should be in the townhouse. While at the townhouse we ran out of propane on the middle day of our stay and the spare tank next to propane was empty. There were no coffee filters, salt and pepper, and garbage bags. We ran out of toilet paper, come on that is just bad. The sofa bed is terrible as the mattress is too thin and you feel the springs all night resulting in a terrible sleep. My kids ended up sleeping on the floor. Positives are the extra chairs, ice maker and of course the pool area being so centrally located. We did however get questioned on two separate occasions when playing pool by other permanent owners for being in the Clubhouse. It was a rather unfriendly welcome when we entitled to be there. If you rent your place in the summer expect people to need things for the BBQ that you don't bring on vacation. Some of these would be metal skewers for the BBQ, more spices like Montreal steak spice and even more frying pans to make a breakfast for six. Two frying pans is not enough when one is a small one. The sprinklers came on every day at noon right off the back patio. This was bad for two reasons because you couldn't enjoy the outside area for an hour without getting wet and the grass in general was over watered and always soaking wet to the touch even in the middle of summer. The strata should change that or the grass will be dead in a few years. The beach is a five minute walk away and check first to see if there is a fire ban. The fire pit looked lovely with free wood but we couldn't use it and there was a nice sand area on the grass by the beach access for smaller kids to play. I recommend shopping at Costco in Nanaimo, the prices in Qualicum are quite expensive. Lastly our damage deposit took 7.5 weeks to be returned. Suzanne says this is because she has to check for any international calls or movie rentals on the cable packages. I would rather of had those services disconnected and got my damage deposit back sooner even though it was 1.5 weeks late. (expect 4-6 weeks to get your refund) Suzanne let us stay with our 12 year old Lab which was nice.
