This apartment is centrally located in the Historic Mount Vernon Cultural District. The convenient location allows you and your companion to tour Baltimore and easily visit Washington DC without the need for a car.
The 'Dickinson House' was built in 1879 for John S. Dickinson, and stayed in the family until the 1950's. Many of the original features of this building have survived, and have even been enhanced with an extensive 18-month renovation and preservation. The apartment now has many modern amenities, yet sits in an architectural gem.
After marveling at the 133-year-old details, you will tuck your luggage away and choose among hundreds of landmarks, restaurants and sites to start your venture.
The location is second-to-none! Only a 5-minute walk to Penn Station (Amtrak and MARC), you will have access to the rail artery of the East Coast for outings to Washington DC, day-trips to Philadelphia and treks to New York City. The Johns Hopkins Medical Institute shuttle stop is also there. You will be a 6-minute walk to the Baltimore Light Rail’s instant reach to the Camden Yards baseball stadium and the terminal doors of the BWI Airport. Best of all, the new Charm City Circulator stops 1 block away delivering you anywhere you want to go for free, via its direct route to the Inner Harbor, Downtown Baltimore, the Convention Center, and Federal Hill. It is frequent, free and has an accompanying iPhone app service! Should you decide to drive, simply rent a Zip Car located only 3 blocks away.
Explore historic Mt. Vernon! Tour the first cathedral in America, the Basilica of the Assumption, climb the stairs of the Washington Monument—the nation’s first memorial to George Washington, breathe in the architecture at the Peabody Library, discover the stained glass Tiffany windows of the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion, visit the exhibits of the Walters Art Museum. Each of these exquisite options are within walking distance and free to the public!
Interested in music? Walk to a concert at the Peabody Music Conservatory, an opera at the Lyric, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerhof Symphony Hall or live music at a nearby gallery, pub or the park at Mount Vernon Place. Want to see a play, comedy show or movie? Walk to Center Stage, Spotlighters, the Everyman Theater or the Charles Theatre, then dine at some of the best-rated restaurants in Baltimore! Our personal favorites are The Brewer’s Art, The Helmand, Stang of Siam, Sofi’s Crepes and Tapas Teatro ... all within 1-5 blocks!
Starbucks, Chipotle and pizza from Iggies and Joe Squared are near, too!
Feel like cooking? Easily stock your apartment’s kitchen with our fold-up shopping cart and ingredients from 2 grocery stores within a 3 block radius. The kitchen has new granite countertops and is fully equipped.
The apartment has a private bathroom with shower, hair dryer and heated floor! It has a queen-sized bed, television, air conditioning and heat. A washer/dryer is expected soon. This place is ideal for tourists, visiting scholars, and traveling professionals.
