Downstairs:
You can enter the house through a mudroom into the open floor plan where the dining room, living room and kitchen are all connected. The dining room has vaulted ceilings, log construction, a table will that seat 12 (we have seated 16) and a beautiful chandelier for ambience. The kitchen is open and has a large serving window where food can be easily gotten piping hot.
Also downstairs is two of the bedrooms, one queen and one bunk with a twin over full and each have their own sliding glass doors to the outside. There is also a pull-out sofa that can sleep 2 in the living room.
In all, there are 5 sliding glass doors downstairs so that anyone can easily access the outside wrap around deck over-looking the river and pond or to walk, hike, or fish.

Upstairs:
The master bedroom includes a king bed, bath/shower with an over-sized tub, 2 sinks and large drawers for stowing clothes.
Also, upstairs are 2 similar bedrooms across from each other. Both have a queen bed and there are blow up queens that can be set up for extra sleeping space. The blow up mattresses are in the recreation room and extra bedding is in the main bedroom closet upstairs. These 2 queen bedrooms share a small full bathroom in the hallway in between the two bedrooms.

Guest House:
Can sleep 7
has a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom with steam shower and an open living/dining room, with pull-out sleeper and a big screen TV. The custom construction is very nice, rustic with log work, wood floors, tile, and wood ceilings.

Guest house is situated above a detached garage on the second floor and the recreation/billiard room is below next to the driveway.

Outside:
We have approx. 1/2 a mile of river/creek front alongside the property, a creek fed pond for fishing, and a Rainbow play-set. With-in walking distance or a short drive, many trails are easily accessed to hike or ride in any fashion. After sunset, is the amazing milky way, that can be enjoyed when the moon is new. Also, what we consider a great addition, lot's of privacy!
Both homes have TV's, movies options, Hi-speed WI-FI no password.

Everyone can enjoy playing pool or cards in our recreation room. HUNTERS, WE HAVE TONS OF ROOM FOR 4 WHEELERS, BIG TRUCKS, PACK ANIMALS AND YOU CAN HANG YOUR GAME IN OUR BARN.

Absolutely Beautiful!
This cabin was the PERFECT setting for our wedding! It is so beautiful, and Janet and Mike were amazing hosts. They were so responsive and they got everything clean and looking fantastic for our ceremony. They even brought us a huge bag of carrots for their horses so we could take pictures with them! We would love to come back, it could not have been more amazing. Thank you!!

Wedding Perfection
We got married this past weekend and could not have asked for a better setting. We stayed for a long weekend. Janet and Mark were very responsive before and during our stay. The property was beautiful and we had more than we needed. This property just made our wedding day more magical.

About the host

Host profile image
My wife and I built this home for our family especially so that we could enjoy a country home life style. We moved in with 2 children in 1997 added 2 more children and lived in the home until 2012 after that, we moved in to town to accommodate our very busy children’s sports and social life styles.
We loved the privacy we enjoyed and the beautiful views of the river, ponds and trees from our breakfast counter and the starry milky-way from the hot-tub. in addition, we also enjoyed the short distance to the small intimate town of Gunnison.

Why they chose this property

What is unique about this property is how well it can accommodate a large group gathering. It’s not fancy, it’s homey and it’s suited for making memories.
Also, because we prefer country living and the privacy this house affords us, we also enjoy that it is very close to Gunnison and it’s not completely isolated. It is conveniently located to all the things we love to do, including; fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, jeeping and much more. That is what makes this house an ideal place for anyone to enjoy as a country home getaway.
****During the slower seasons, it is possible that the main house will be rented to one party while the guest house is used by another.****

One last thing about Gunnison, if you don't all ready know-as the saying goes- 'It's Always Sunny in Gunny'

What makes this property unique

What makes this property so unique is that it has nearly everything one could want when they visit Gunnison. If they hunt, they can bring horse trailers and have a place for their horses to board on site. If they have an RV or 4 wheelers, there is plenty of private parking for that too and they can 4 wheel straight away to miles and miles of trails right from the house. If fishing is on their mind, there is a river fed pond and nearly a half mile of private river frontage with a confluence of 2 rivers near the back side of the property. The convenient location to 2 ski areas, a Victorian mining town, Blue Mesa reservoir, Black Canyon National Park, rafting, BLM land, mountain biking trails and so much more, makes this property an outdoor enthusiasts dream.
