The Big Yellow. Camp
Seven friends since high school have been gathering during the summer for many, many years. Of late, we’ve been renting this wonderful rustic camp on the lake, maybe for the past seven years. We grew up in the area, and this is the type of camp we prefer — lots of wood, cozy, authentic, and extremely well equipped. The location cannot be beat. Excellent in every way.

Incredible waterfront vacation house
The views of Lake Champlain were spectacular. The front living room and dining room with window to window panoramic view of the lake and close proximity to the water sometimes felt that we lived on a houseboat without the downside of any rocking. The house was clean, rustic and soulful. Mattresses and linens were clean and comfortable. The two canoes with paddles and vests were a delight. Wifi, television with streaming worked perfectly, but the available hands-on games led to comradery and spirt of the “camp” led us to even play “charades” with the entire extended family including teenagers. The kitchen had all necessary amenities, but bring your teenagers to help with washing the dishes. The “camp” was so fun we did not miss any automatic dishwasher. Two bathrooms for nine of us worked out well and the outdoor shower was sublime.

Family Vacation
The location of this house cannot be beat. The neighborhood is beautiful, neighbors were all very nice. The owners were very responsive, kind and overly accommodating. The house is very spacious, we stayed with 12 adults and 2 children and never felt like we were on top of each other. We have already booked again for next year!

I am a third generation manager of this summer cottage, which is currently owned by five siblings born 1943 - 1950 to a prominent Burlington physician. We have maintained this large, rustic beachfront cottage in our family for nearly 80 years. The five owners have shared and enjoyed this six-bedroom camp during the summer months, bringing spouses, children, and grandchildren to this pristine beach community to continue family traditions and make new memories nearly every year. Traveling from all over the United States of America and abroad, our extended families enjoy relaxing away from their busy lives as doctors, professors, psychologists, and educators at our Big Yellow Camp with the broadest view of Lake Champlain on Colchester Point.

Why they chose this property

A singular stretch of light sand beach, bracketed by prominent slate and cedar points, the Cunningham Camp faces the broad lake with a wrap-around porch view of Camel's Hump mountain near Stowe, VT to Port Kent, NY and the Adirondack Mountains. This broad lake view attracted our patriarch and matriarch to build the Camp in 1948. Four generations of Cunninghams have summered here and now are inviting others to share in the magic of a Colchester Point beachfront vacation.

What makes this property unique

Just 15 minutes from Burlington, named one of the top ten small cities in the U.S., by car and only 30 minutes by bicycle on rail-to-trail path along the lake shore, the camp is both convenient and private. The bike trail extends past Colchester Point well out into Malletts Bay, providing some of the most picturesque walking, running, or biking in New England. Boating, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing are as easy as sliding the watercraft into the water from the soft sand beach.

Internal space, with an Adirondack style, is enhanced by vaulted, two-story living room ceiling, knotty pine walls, a very large dining porch that catches the early morning light, and an even larger front porch with that breath-taking wrap-around view extending down the lake beyond the horizon. This vacation home is "paradise found."
