About this property

The Great Escape - Moore Falls, Ontario, Canada

A peaceful cottage in the Haliburton Highlands. Two bedrooms and a loft, and sleeps 8. A fantastic view with a canoe and rowboat that is great for fishing. Plenty of water amenities for children and adults alike. Wood burning stove and furnace, and fully winterized. This beautiful cottage has a screened in sunporch that everyone congregates too. Waterfront deck and dock that has an unobstructed view and vantage points of the lake and the loons. This chalet has an outdoor firepit, to sit near and watch the sunset. No weeds and plenty of fun...enjoy! Other amenities include a propane barbecue, a forested area, waterfront and a spectacular view. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances including a microwave, and the bathroom is a 3-piece.

Much Much More
Our cottage is fully winterized, so there is heat inside and out! We have a firepit and a furnace, so you will cozy and comfortable all the time. On 1 square acre of land with waterfront, you will feel the escape the city, without the long arduous drive. With a stove frigde/freezer, microwave and toaster you will have the amenities of home but enjoy a view and sounds you would not normally see or hear.
The waterfront is wonderful because there are no weeds! A clean lake that is clear and rated a 5 out of 5 by the Natural Resouces Ministry, 200 metres of waterfront within the beauty of the Canadian Shield. Guided hikes, Haliburton wilderness, wildlife and waterfun abound in the region. Minden and Norland are close for shopping and family fun. Kawartha Dairy is ;iocated in most outlets but they have their flagship store in Minden, only 10 minutes North. Seadoos, boats, and snowmobiles are rentable in Minden and Norland to enjoy all what is to offer in this Haliburton oasis.

Nice Cottage
The Host was very Helpful when we called and he also was helpful when I asked for Friday check in, instead of Saturday. As it was my Daughter's Wedding on the Saturday. Betty.

Not Impressed
Cottage was dirty, did not appear to have been cleaned from previous guest. Beds were stained. several bars of random soap laying in the shower. Owner charged us $75 for missing glassware which he later admitted that he found (still has not reimbursed me). He also accused of putting burn marks on the dining room table. We did not use the dining room table for meals - we used the outside table. I would not recommend this cottage to anyone. Beware of the extra charges the owner may add to your bill by falsely accusing you of things you didn’t do.

Relaxing getaway
The cottage had everything we needed. Fishing was good, and the canoe was fun. Nice lake, pretty quite. Screened in porch was very nice, overall would probably book again!

Lots to love
Lots to love about this cottage. Great location, private, nice road for walks, beautiful view. Only complaint would be the cleanliness - found a lot of mice droppings throughout the kitchen and bathroom. Overall, kitchen cupboards could have used a good cleaning.

Disaster - filthy cottage
When we opened the door, there was an overwhelming smell of mustiness. We thought it's a cottage, we can open the windows. However we discovered all the windows were left open from the last guests. We took our shoes off when we entered and were grossed out by the filth of the floors. There was an alarming amount of mouse droppings on the counters. I checked the bed for bed bugs, which I do at every hotel. The mattress cover was covered in numerous blood smears and bed bug shell casings. We left immediately. The owner has strict cleaning rules, but it's clear, there is no professional cleaning between guests. There was a note left by the last occupants, it was still there as no one had been by to check on the cottage. The owner responded quickly, gave us an immediate refund and apologized, however our weekend was ruined.
