Great location. Quiet street, close to grocery store and everything in Bar Harbor Towne

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at your home in Bar Harbor. The house is in a great location, on a quiet street and is within walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor , including the bus stop for the Island Explorer. There was plenty of room for our family. The kitchen was large and well stocked. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The front room is large with comfortable couches, an easy chair, and a flat screen TV. A great location for our family to explore Acadia National Park.

Clean house, lots of room, great location. But NO refunds for any change or cancelations.

  • 4 of 5

The house worked very well for two families (4 adults and 5 kids). The 3rd floor has lots of space, beds and a huge bathroom - it is a great space for teenagers. The three bedrooms on the 2nd floor are also good, but there is only 1 bathroom on this floor (so several people have to share this). And there is no half bath on the main floor. The kitchen is a plenty big and has everything you need. I especially liked the big room that you walk into, from the back door. It is a great place to drop all your hiking boots and gear. The furniture has been well used over the years, so it is not super nice, but it works just fine.

Owner's Response: Dear Reynolds, Thank you for choosing Spindrift Cottage for your stay, and also for your thoughtful review. While I had only received positive comments and feedback from others about the furnishings at the home, I checked out the couch you mentioned and agreed it seemed slightly squishy, despite it only being a few years old. I took your advice and replaced it with new, high-end leather furniture that should hold up nicely for a long time. I appreciate your keen sense of style. I was surprised that the review mentioned that there are no refunds for changes in schedule as we had agreed to a reimbursement for part of your stay. Typically, my policy is that I will refund someone fully if I am able to re-book the time. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Bar Harbor and Spindrift Cottage as your home base. Regards, Sherri

Great house for families

  • 5 of 5

The house is very kid-friendly -- full of books and toys and puzzles and games, as well as some videos and an outdoor sand box. The top floor has it's own bathroom and living room and is like a separate suite. We were three generations and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this house.

Perfect Place for a Family

  • 5 of 5

Loved Spindrift Cottage and the way it so beautifully accommodated our family of 7 adults and a toddler. The location could not be beat--within easy walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor so that we never had to fight for a parking space. On the other hand, we were two blocks off of Cottage, tucked a way on a quiet, peaceful residential street. The owner was a dream to work with, and we had a truly marvelous week.

Perfect Location in-town

  • 5 of 5

We spent 11 days at Spindrift, some with our grand-daughter and the rest with our grand-daughter, our daughter, and son-in-law. The house itself was very nice. Clean, well-stocked with paper goods, kitchen equipment, and so on. There are 3 bedrooms and 1 quite good bath on the second floor, and 1 bedroom, 1 very nice bath, and a very nice, large TV/sitting-room on the third floor. There are window A/C units in all but one of the bedrooms (one on the second floor). The kitchen area is large with lots of light. There is a separate DR and LR (with a TV) on the first floor. There is also a very nice patio (including a gas grill) off the kitchen. It is a private and nice place for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. In short, the layout is excellent for families. Basically, we and our grand-daughter used the 2nd floor, while our daughter and her husband had a very nice "suite" on the 3rd floor.

We had stayed many times in Bar Harbor in the past (mostly at B&Bs), and thus know the town well. The location of this house is amazing. It is about a 3-minute walk to Hannaford's Grocery store. We were at Hannaford's almost every day buying fruit, trail mix, wine, etc. It was nice to just be able to walk over, pick up an item or two, and then walk back. Once back at the house, we appreciated the fact that it is on a dead-end cul-de-sac of sorts. It was quiet and safe. It was also just a few minutes walk to everything on both Cottage Street and Main Street.

In sum, we loved staying at the house with our family. It was a big part of having everyone be comfortable (by having their own spaces) and be able to enjoy one another (because of the many gathering spaces available, ; i.e., the patio, DR, LR, kitchen). Further, the owner was very good about communicating by email and text throughout the whole process.

Highly recommended.
