Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Aerie for two nights, and we absolutely loved it. The setting was so tranquil, and the accommodations are as beautiful as the pictures suggest. Heather was very helpful and made herself available to answer our questions. We can't wait to return! Thank you so much for a wonderful, memorable stay.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This is a very special property, gorgeous down to every detail and more beautiful than the photos can explain. It is perfect for a couple or small family for any kind of getaway. Heather and Bob are gracious hosts who are there to support you and respect your privacy and the local reference book they provide is the most extensive i've ever seen at a rental. Their whole property shows evidence of meticulous thought and preparation, and we spent a wonderful, relaxing time here in mid-November. The location gives easy access to daytime adventures and supply runs, and the house is so nice you won't want to leave, ever. The well-appointed kitchen is great if you like cooking as we do, and the day bed in the main room gives you no excuses not to relax. The surrounding forest is gorgeous and visible from every angle and you can weather even the wettest storm in style, at one with your surroundings.

Soul-reviving quietude

  • 5 of 5

We carved out a week in late winter to spend on the Sunshine Coast with our children, 9 and 4 years old. How quickly we all sloughed off our urban harriedness at The Aerie: a tribute to minimalist, upscale clean lines which highlights the stunning environment all around. Somehow our days became jam-packed with contemplating the tides at Sargeant's Bay, scrambling up rain-forested trails, rock-throwing contests, and mixing with the locals (deer, eagles, dolphins and seals, among others). Did I mention the 360-degree glass shower looking out into the forest? The hot tub on the deck? Or the gourmet kitchen? How about the incredible grace with which Heather and Bob hosted us? Can't wait to return... Save a cinnamon roll from the Sechelt bakery for me!

About Heather

We bought the property in Dec 2005 as our future retirement home while we were still residing and working in Dawson Creek, BC. It was a successful vacation rental till Feb 2010 when we began a complete reconstruction of the main house and built a new guesthouse (Aerie) on the bluff above.

We made the move to the Sunshine Coast full time in January 2011 living first in the Aerie guesthouse and finally in Jun 2012, the expanded and renovated Pointhouse now a boutique B&B.

With the interesting guests from all over the world and a busy schedule of physician locums, retirement is still a ways off. Fortunately, life on the coast is a more relaxed pace allowing us more playtime, family time and travel opportunities.

Heather purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Heather chose Halfmoon Bay

The Sunshine Coast is easily accessible from Vancouver-car,ferry, boat, floatplane, commercial/ corporate aircraft.

The location is spectacular - You have to visit to appreciate. Most beautiful landscapes on the Sunshine Coast.

Sargeant Bay Provincial Park is a little known jewel. A secluded log strewn halfmoon shingle beach with sand at low tide backed by a magnificent bird sanctuary and lovely hiking and mountain bike paths.

Gibsons, Sechelt, Pender Harbor and points in between offer innumerable opportunities for sightseeing, cultural and sporting activities and this property is located centrally to it all.

What makes this cottage unique

This estate offers one of the most luxurious, private and peaceful locations on all the Coast.

Everything about the property, both natural and crafted, is designed to induce relaxation.

Hello Heather & Bob

Thank you for an amazing stay at Aerie! The location is perfect, the house was very comfortable and modern. The floor to ceiling windows certainly enhanced our stay with the beautiful surroundings and views! Our kids especially were able to enjoy nature and the beautiful beach close by!
