Just a block and half away are downtown Newburyport's Market Square where holiday events and live entertainment go on. Shop for the person in your life who's hard to buy for, or find a one-of-a-kind item that's perfect for yourself.

Yankee Homecoming

Enjoy Newburyport's famed Yankee Homecoming. First held in 1958 as a way to reinvigorate community pride and interest in the downtown. Over 50 years later, this 8-day annual celebration is the second oldest remaining festival in the country. You will find endless activities to take part in all around the downtown. Free Waterfront Concerts take place every evening in Waterfront Park behind the Firehouse Center for the Arts.

Newburyport/Plum Island is world-famous as a “natural history” destination. Recognized as one of the nation’s finest birdwatching areas, birders and nature enthusiasts from around the world come to this area.

Walk and hike along the beaches of Plum Island, through marshland of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, and into the woods of Maudslay State Park. Stroll along High Street and admire the Federal Mansions or watch the boats on the Merrimack as you make your way down the boardwalk.

There are whale watch cruises with Newburyport Whale Watch, deep-sea fishing boats, evening party boats, public docks, sunset cruises, and harbor tours. Numerous yacht clubs and marinas are within a short distance of downtown.

Windsurfing and kayaking are ways to enjoy the river and sea. In the summer, the Merrimack River is full of boats; you don’t have to have your own to enjoy the beauty from the water. Instead, you can take a narrated harbor tour or a Plum Island Ecotour. Charter a sailboat with Defiance Sail Charters or take a cruise on the scenic Merrimack River with Newburyport Cruises or the Essex River with Essex River Cruises.

There are plenty of fish to be caught in the Merrimack River and offshore. If you enjoy fishing, you can cast your lines off the shore of Plum Island, or sign up for an off-shore excursion with the Captain’s Fishing Parties, Rocky Point Fishing Charters or the Clipper Fleet. Or hire a charter boat with Channel Edge Charters.

Bicycling, running, jogging and walking around the flat streets of the city are popular pastimes. Bicycles may be rented right in downtown Newburyport at both EZ Pedaler and Riverside Cycles!

Newburyport is a restaurant mecca of renown. Fine foods and wine and fine dining for every season. Newburyport’s reputation for exquisite fare is well known throughout New England and beyond. Park your car and you are in walking distance to over thirty restaurants. Locals, day-trippers, and tourists flock to this city of dining delights, not only in the summer but year-round. Varied menus offer tastes of Yankee New England, American and European fare, New Orleans, ethnic enticements, and the unusual. You can enjoy legendary temptations such as the perfect lobster, succulent seafood, or jump into the culinary offerings of Plum Island.

Dining for all Seasons. Family fare, candlelight romantic settings, waterfront dining, sidewalk cafés, local favorites and critically acclaimed upscale gourmet adventures draw food lovers to the culinary destination of Newburyport.

We hope you enjoy your vacation in our beautiful home.

*Please note, we have one nest security camera on the exterior front of the house.

**Please note that our 218-year-old home does not have central air. It does have seven air-conditioners, one in each bedroom and two on the first floor. The attic master suite in extreme weather conditions can become too hot for both the ceiling fan, skylight shades and air conditioner. We can not be held responsible for the weather.
