Experience Southwest Montana in a unique setting; completely renovated circa 1900 trapper cabins set on 6 acres on the world renowned Big Hole River.
Fish the famous Big Hole right from the property. There are some great riffles right off the bank or a short hike up the river. The Beaverhead is only 30 miles South, near Dillon, MT.
The camp is comprised of four cabins. Three one bedroom sleeping cabins and one larger cook house, dining areas and screen porch.
The camp evolved over the past ten years. It took two years just to clean up the property from the previous owner and bring it back to a healthy habitat. I re-erected the first cabin in 2006. The Norwood, is the smallist cabin in the camp but closest to the river. I have spent many nights in this cabin with the windows and door open listening to the river flow by. This cabin has two single beds, a rustic wood stove, a metro closet and a camp chair from Kenya. A teak chaise lounge sits on it's deck. There is no bathroom but the cook house is just steps away. There is a propane furnace.
Next came The Jackrabbit. It was recovered off an old gold claim. It is now the cookhouse, living and dining area. There are two decks with a large webber grill on the south side and a hanging sky chair to the north. The kitchen has a professional grade oven with a 6 burner gas stovetop, a refridgerator, dishwasher and an authentic farm sink. There is an abundance of dishware, glassware, pots, pans, cooking utensils etc.. The large dining screened porch seats eight. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and shower. An antique table and four leather camp chairs from Africa create the indoor dining area. A stereo with many cd's is located in an old amoire, a comfortable weathered leather chair with ottoman and a wood cook stove complete this cabin. There is even a little weather station in here to keep an eye on the weather, barometer and wind conditions to assist in your fishing and/or hiking decisions. There is a propane furnace to keep you warm.
The Well House cabin was re-erected in 2008 with a mix of old and new logs. It is the second largest sleeping cabin in the camp. It has a little elevation to it and I find myself sitting on it's pourch, reading from a rocking chair in the afternoon sun. It has a queen size bed, a full bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower, a metro closet and a leather camp chair. This cabin has a propane furnace.
The newest addition is the largest sleeping cabin, Mosse Creek. It was once a one room school house made from local fir logs. This is where I have been staying lately although I have rested my head in all the cabins as I was working on the next one. This cabin has a king size log bed, a large bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower, two metro closets, two leather camp chairs from Kenya, a large wooden bench, a wood burning stove and a furnace.
