Truly an Amazing Spot!
The views from the lanai alone make this spot worth the trip. The fact that the condo itself is gorgeous, and fully loaded with everything you’d need to settle in and make it your home away from home was a total bonus. 20 seconds out the back is some amazing snorkelling in a protected little bay, and you’d literally have to go out of your way NOT to see a variety of gorgeous turtles. We are already planning our return to the Hilo area, and are absolutely going to come back here.

The view was wonderful as was the park/beach nearby. Communication with the owner was amazing. For groceries/dining a vehicle is a definite plus (one restaurant across the street - limited hours, though groceries and food could be ordered in)

Enjoyed our stay
This top floor unit has a spectacular view of Carlsmith Beach. When you keep the lanai and front door open (both screened), there is a great cross breeze that flows through the unit. Randall was great with answering any questions that we had and checked to make sure we got into the unit okay. Thank you for a great stay.

Hilo Water View
We were concerned driving through an industrial area to get to the building but once there it was great - we watched whales from the lanai and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The unit has been refurbished and is clean and modern. No air conditioning but the ceiling fans were sufficient to keep it cool.

I'm a photographer and my wife is a realtor. My primary bread and butter is real estate photography and I also manage one other property that we own and another private ocean front house for other owners. Donna was born and raised in Honolulu. We met in New York City where I worked in the film business and she as an actress. As we were both freelance, we moved to Montana after having children and spent many years there commuting to work on either coast and raising both the kids and a small heard of llamas. (Great fun!) In 2001 we moved to Hilo for Donna to be home again in Hawaii and for the kids to be near relatives. We still enjoy working and hardly ever stop, but we do treasure our morning walks and we enjoy hosting guests. Come visit!

Why they chose this property

We bought this property in 2015 after I managed it as a vacation rental for a friend for a couple of years. It's a great property with wonderful views, right on the ocean and it's the only condo property in Hilo that allows for short term renting. The building is well taken care and the resident board members are always looking for ways to improve on the building. Many of the residents are long term and about 20% of the units are rented short term as vacation rentals.

What makes this property unique

The condo has lovely views of the ocean, Hilo Bay and Mauna Kea mountain in the distance. The high ceilings and clerestory windows in the main living area make for great airiness and light. Immediately next door the building property is Carlsmith Beach Park, locally known as 'Four Mile' beach. You can use your building key to take the private gate right into the park and down to the water. The Park has grassy areas with picnic tables, lagoons and a small beach area with a county life guard during open hours. Downtown Hilo is about 2.5 miles away. The condo makes for a fun place to stay and is central to the many touring destinations in the area.
