The apartment sleeps 5 guests and the adjacent suite sleeps up to 5 additional guests.

Inside your apartment you'll find the romance and charm of Old New York with exposed brick walls, wide plank floors, a fireplace and original oil paintings.

The spacious living room offers you comfortable seating for 10. The single cushioned Bahama bed offers a comfortable night's sleep for another guest. We also offer 3 fold out beds or a high quality air bed on legs if needed.

A quaint 150 year old opaque glass wall separates the living room and bedroom. Pamper yourself with an excellent night's sleep and wake up refreshed in the queen size bed with quality linens and lots of extra pillows. There's plenty of room for all of your clothes and shopping sprees in a wall of custom fitted closets. The glamorous en suite marble bathroom has a small tub with rain shower.

Have a bite to eat or a satisfying drink when ever you feel like it in a newly renovated full kitchen with large double door refrigerator/freezer with automatic ice maker, full stove with oven and full size dishwasher. The kitchen is nicely equipped with microwave, coffee pot, pots and pans, dishes, glassware and flatware.

The dining area with cushioned window seat overlooks the peaceful garden. If you don't feel like cooking, just order in from the many nearby restaurants or have the grocery stores deliver.

An adjacent 2-room 1/2 bath duplex suite is available as an add on for large groups. The small downstairs room is furnished as an bedroom/library and has a queen size bed. Private interior stairs lead from this room to a large upstairs bedroom with 2 twin size beds that can be made up into a King size bed if you prefer. A 1/2 bath is off of this room. We also can add 1 or 2 fold out ottoman beds for you.

This is a no smoking apartment for your comfort. Smoking in the garden is always okay.

The apartment is in a private 4 story townhouse. It is on the garden floor in the back and is exceptionally quiet, clean, safe and secure. We live in the apartment upstairs.

You'll find many extra modern details such as high hat lights in all of the rooms, a security buzzer to open the front doors and quality windows and doors.

The townhouse has a rich history with several famous people who lived here including General Francis Barlow (see his painting by Winslow Homer in the Met Museum) and Mary Fanton Roberts (see her painting by Robert Henri in the Met Museum). It is said that the famous dancer Isadora Duncan once lived here. We have the We haven't been able to confirm this but like to believe that it is true. We hope that you will spend some time here, too.

Soho is a quick ride south on the #6 subway which is just 2 1/2 blocks away. Or you can head north on the #6 to Museum Mile and the Metropolitan Museum. When you don't feel like walking, ride to Bloomingdale's with a stop right under the store. Madison Avenue # 1, #3 and #5 bus lines are 1 & 1/2 away and run north. The Lexington Avenue #101 bus line is on the corner 1/2 block away and runs south. Of course this being New York, you can always hop into a taxi or call car service.

Garden oasis in the middle of Manhattan



This apartment is located right in the middle of Manhattan convenient to everything. It is very comfortable and quiet but the real secret is its wonderful garden which provides an oasis where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Safe, Convenient, Quiet

This apartment is perfect for any family visiting NYC.

Quiet and convenient - only 2 blocks to the 6 train! Walk to Empire State Building and Flatiron Building.

So quiet we could sleep past noon!

Marea, the hostess is gracious and better than a local tour guide. She gives the information that only a resident really knows: restaurants, bargain shopping, how to save on broadway shows.

Neat, tidy, and intriguing building in a great section of Manhattan. The private courtyard takes you into a secret world!

Great Choice of a Holiday Home

Cozy, comfortable and welcoming. Big towels, bathrobes and lots of hot water. Superb location near lots of attractions and shopping. I love New York and I love this apartment.

Gem in the middle of Murray Hill

The space was large and inviting. Marea met us and offered wonderful insight into the area. I had shared that I had dietary restrictions and she found us a gluten free restaurant nearby. It was fabulous!

The outdoor space was amazing. Our daughter and fiance stopped in for drinks and cheese on the patio. What a treat.

great place

we have just had 7 nights at the apartment 6 of us altogether we had plenty if space. It's in a great location walk to heaps of resturants and bars .Marea was very helpful will stay again .Hugo and the gang

Budget Friendly Location in Midtown

Availability the week after Thanksgiving was very hard to find for a family of 6 wanting to vacation in Manhattan. After researching and communicating with a half dozen "available" locations on VRBO, we found that only 2 of the 6 were actually available for the nights that VRBO said they were available causing us to be frustrated with the reservation process in general. However, Marea was a breath of fresh air. She communicated quickly and thoroughly (almost too much information at times) to ensure we knew what to expect in Midtown. Here are some of the Pros and Cons you can expect

PROS:

1) Marea and Chivita were great to work with and helped ensure that our 1:00 AM check in would work out on a Tuesday night.

2) It is located close to Fairway Market, 28th street Subway stops, walkable to Empire State Building and Macy's, great restaurants and bars all around, and set aside in a mostly quiet part of Manhattan.

3) The kitchen has updated countertops and nice size fridge. It is very small (as expected) but gives you a dishwasher, stove top, and microwave to cook smaller meals when travelling with kids.

4) Courtyard out back is nice to step out to when you get there. This time of year it is cold and wet but seemed like a nice little spot in summer.

5) The master bathroom is tight but nice. The shower head is an overhead model and gives you a very consistent temperature. There were plenty of aged linens.

6) Bottle of white wine awaits you in the fridge.

CONS:

1) It was old and dusty throughout most of the units which left the place with a dirty, damp feel. The carpets were clearly worn and aged. We even had a mouse run through the main room.

2) They have packed a LOT into a small space. I would have preferred it if they would remove half the furniture and most of the books to free up space for visitors to unpack.

3) The 3 bedroom option is two separate apartments on the same lower level which causes some logistics issues of showering and sharing common areas. Not truly a 3 bedroom.

4) Old fixtures throughout and most of the furniture was well worn.

5) Mismatched and jammed kitchen table chairs made the table hard to navigate.

6) Kitchen had a broken toaster, no cereal bowls (that we could find), and was missing almost all the knives from the cutlery. It also lacked certain cooking staples like Pam or cooking oil.

7) The TV only functioned well on a few channels even though they had a high definition Samsung cable box.

8) Beds were big but just OK.
