About this property

Spectacular Views, Miles of Beaches, and Boat Trips, 4 Star Luxury Home

Close to the Wild Atlantic Way route, Dunroman house was purpose built as a luxury four star Irish Tourist Board approved guest-house. It has operated as a guest-house until 2011 and due to change of circumstances is now available for vacation rental. It is located next door to the owner’s private accommodation. There are four spacious bedrooms, all with en-suite private bathrooms. The three largest rooms each have a double queen size bed and a single bed, and the fourth room has one double queen size bed. Extra fold up beds or childrens cots can be arranged as necessary. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated with clean white paintwork and beautiful knotted French pine wooden floors. All the rooms in the house comply with the Irish Tourist Board four star guesthouse standards.
Linen and towels are supplied, as are all utilities, and some basic foodstuff such as tea and coffee etc.
The house is located in a quite country setting, beside the N86, 3 miles from the town of Dingle, 27 miles from Tralee and 40 miles from Killarney. There are some spectacular mountain scenes from the bedroom windows and the sea and many beautiful beaches are only minutes away.

Dingle peninsula stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean and is surrounded by the warm waters of the Gulf stream. This results in a very temperate mild climate where exotic plants are common and many rare fish are found around this part of the coast.
The peninsula has some of the most scenic walking tracks in the country, the “Dingle Way” probably being the best known among walkers. The Dingle peninsula has numerous prehistoric archaeological sites of great historical interest and a guided archaeological tour can be easily arranged. Experience unique gems such as the 9th century Gallurus Oratory, and the early christian beehive huts. In more modern times, Dingle peninsula is famous for being the location of “Ryan’s Daughter” the David Lean- Bob Mitchum- Sarah Miles film made in 1969 and “Far and Away” the 1992 film starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
The Dingle peninsula has been voted “the most beautiful place on Earth” by the National Geographic. It has also been voted one of the top 100 destinations in the world and has been recently recommended by CNN as a very favourable winter destination.
The peninsula offers some of Ireland’s most beautiful scenery, rugged and raw, wild and untamed. Parts of the peninsula are still Gaelic speaking, and all of the peninsula is extremely welcoming to visitors.
Various boat tours can be arranged in advance for our guests, such as a guided one hour harbour tour, a guided marine eco tour to the Blasket islands, a trip to land on the Great Blasket island for two and a half hours. Weather permitting, of course, for all trips. For more details check out our website at Dingle Boat Tours.

Deep sea angling trips can also be arranged and all gear is provided on the boats. Some of our guests like to catch their own fish and then cook it back in Dunroman for dinner - you can’t get fresher than that! For the committed angler, there are numerous shore angling spots that are good for bass, pollock, mackerel, wrasse etc. If your preference is lobster, crab or crayfish, the owners can arrange to buy it fresh from the boats for you to cook for that special meal.

Dingle town is 3 miles / 5 Kilometres from Dunroman. It is a small town with a native population of 1,600 which swells to 5,000-6,000 during the summer. Dingle is renowned for punching above its weight in many respects, and is known all over the world as one of the primary holiday destinations in Ireland. At one time the town boasted 52 pubs, but this has reduced somewhat over the recent years. There are still some old world traditional pubs that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years- hardware on one side of the saloon, bar counter on the other side. Many of Dingle’s pubs have free entertainment most nights, usually traditional music and song. Dingle is probably one of the top gourmet destinations in Ireland, and was awarded 'foodie town of Ireland' in 2014, with its many award winning restaurants. Many of the bigger bars also do really good value meals, lunches and dinners. The Dingle Food and Wine Festival held over the first weekend of October is always a very well attended and popular event. Dingle, or “ Daingean Uí Chúis” in Gaelic, was established 700 years ago as a Norman walled town. Some of the old town wall is still visible. It was once a major commercial port doing trade with Spain and Portugal back in the 18th. and 19th centuries, and since then an important fishing port, but over recent decades, Dingle has become the primary tourist destination of South West Ireland, since the early 70's when the MGM movie 'Ryans Daughter' was shot here.

Dingle aquarium is probably the best of its kind in Ireland. The vast array of local sealife is featured, as well as an amozonian section. There is a shark tank, an underwater glass viewing tunnel, and the most recent addition is a penguin enclosure. There is also a well stocked souvenir shop and a coffee shop.

There are numerous activities for young and old available, both indoor and outdoor. For those who just want to relax and wind down, there are beautiful walks through the surrounding country lanes, where the only traffic you are likely to meet is a farmer going about his work, who most likely will stop and talk to you for a while.
You can have all your holiday activities pre-arranged for you by the owners, or you can 'play it by ear' as they say here. The choice is yours, but whatever your plans, Tom and Noeline will do their best to ensure that you go back home relaxed and happy with your stay.

Keywords: Dunroman was purpose built as a 4 star luxury guesthouse, now available for rental, amid a backdrop of spectacular mountain views, and only minutes from miles of sandy beaches.

Beautiful home
Our family of six spent two lovely days here. The home is fully stocked with everything you could need. Fridge filled with full Irish breakfast products for two days. Beds were clean and very comfortable with enough room for at least 14 people in four rooms, all with ensuites. Dining area table seated 14 people. Dingle is an easy five minute drive and Slea Head and Conor Pass are very accessible. Cost was quite low, especially when compared to similar properties. Thank you to the hosts.

wonderful holiday
The accommodation was perfect for our stay. Very well equipped and amazing complimentary breakfast and home made bread, etc. Very spacious and great location near to Dingle with easy access into the house and plenty of parking space. The host was warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Pastoral scenery and warm welcomes
Clean place with views of the countryside. Noeleen was very helpful and always accessible as we had some difficulties finding the place. There was breakfast provided with homemade bread. She advised where we could go for restaurants and food. Highly recommend this place. It’s minutes away from Dingle (which I believe may have tours to Skelig Michael island—so worth the trip if you are able to climb up those steep steps and two hours away from Portmagee which was where our Skelig Michael boat tour left).

About the host

Hosted by Tom Hand

Host profile image
Tom is a marine electronics engineer by profession, and during the summer months he skippers one of the familys' tour boats. Noeline is a nurse in the local hospital. Both have 19 years experience in looking after guests and take great pride in doing it well.

Why they chose this property

Both Tom and Noeline have lived here since 1986, and would never move. The natural beauty of the Dingle Peninsula is unsurpassed anywhere else, but what makes this place so special is the unique character of the people who live here. The area has an undescribable magnetism, which is evident by the many tourists that come here and never leave.

What makes this property unique

Dunroman is a modern, clean, comfortable, cosy house, in a country setting, but only minutes from the sea, beaches, mountains, walks, towns.
The unique benefit you will enjoy while a guest at Dunroman is the offer of a complimentary one hour guided trip on a tour boat in Dingle harbour and the inner bay area. Please note that all trips are weather permitting, but as you may know, we sometimes get all four seasons in one day here in Ireland, so if today is not suitable, tomorrow might be.
