The Bashford is a great 'skip the hotel and save' option for small/sizable groups!

This beautiful 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom home provides an outstanding location with easy access to Raleigh (including downtown), Cary and Durham. This home sits on nearly 1.5 acres to maximize your privacy. It is located only minutes from the buzz of Raleigh, including PNC Arena, where you can catch a concert or Hurricanes game historic downtown Cary to explore the arts, NC State University (owner's alma mater) for a good ole' regular season game or college tour, Lake Johnson Park for a nice walk, boating etc. and tons of necessity and leisure shopping.

We welcome all to come relax and enjoy this spacious home with Brazilian santos mahogany hardwood and great natural lighting throughout. The main level of this 2-story home includes a family room with a brick gas log fireplace and built in bookshelves, 3 bedrooms with a master that opens out onto the 2nd story deck, a dining room and 4 full bathrooms (<--- great for big groups needing to get ready in a hurry).

BONUS: The fully finished basement includes 3 bedrooms, a full second kitchen and a leisure room with a brick gas log fireplace. Easy access (including wheelchair accessibility) to the back patio and driveway. This home offers a large deck for entertaining and a lower level deck for grilling or simply relaxing.

For outdoor enthusiast, go kayaking and canoeing at Lake Johnson. It is a few minutes away with 3.5 miles of paved greenway trails, 1.9 miles of unpaved trails, boardwalk, boat rentals and fishing.

Note: There is a one bedroom efficiency apartment with separate entrance and driveway where the owner may be staying. If the owner is present during your stay, no interaction is required as your privacy is very important. This space is NOT available for rent.

Great house!
The house was perfect for our weekend of doing a small reunion for an alumni football game! It was the perfect size home for all of us staying and never felt like we were stepping on each other’s toes. Would absolutely recommend!

Wedding week
Large home with 6 bedrooms, 2 full kitchens and 4 bathrooms The perfect size and excellent location for my daughter’s wedding. We were close to stores for last minute items and close to airport so pick up and departure was within a 15 minute drive. The property manager was quick to respond to all requests! If you need space to host a gathering this is a great location. We held a brunch for the wedding party and family after the wedding and the extra outdoor tables and seats made it flow very nicely.

Great House in a great location
Fantastic Older House that has been modernized. We were there for a convention downtown and it was very easy to get downtown from this property. The cleaning crew didn’t leave enough towels but we emailed the owner and he responded with more towels within 15 minutes. The only problem we had and it was minor was the fact that the listing said sleeper sofa in the living room and there is no sleeper sofa. Also we didn’t have enough trash bags we had to purchase some but all in all it was a very pleasant experience and the house was great!

The property served its purpose. The pictures made made rooms appear larger. It was neat and clean. Could use an update on the furniture and first level kitchen. Overall nice quiet area with plenty of privacy with access to local stores.

They've got to do better.
The property is in a beautiful neighborhood and is very roomy. I arrived at the property early and was advised I could check in. However I soon discovered I didn't have the access information. It took 30+ minutes and a call to Vrbo to get it. After traveling over 8 hours with two toddlers I was drained and this added to my frustration. However upon entering the property I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of space and how clean everything "seemed". We noted several areas of opportunity ( furniture, decor and some appliances need updating, bathrooms could use updating, pantries weren't completely clear of old foods), but for the most part we were good. Until that night. I went to give my grands a bath an noted the water was reddish brown. This was happening in 3 of the 4 bathrooms. The good thing was the property manager responded to my texts. There was an apology and an offer of a refund for the night. I was advised some things to try and if that didn't work a plumber would be called. I was thus far pleased with the response. Until I noticed the roaches. I had turned out the lights in the lights in the kitchen and when I went back and turned it on I saw roaches scattering every where. I messaged again and sent pictures This time the response was very slow. Upon checking with the other guest I learned they too had roaches in the upstairs kitchen. Needless to say I was beyond mortified and still awaiting a response. I had to cancel the birthday dinner I planned for my mom because I was afraid of having food around. We shopping prior to realizing this was an issue, but we did not cook anything at all. Anything we put down we checked and double checked for fear something had crawled on it. I tried finding some place else, but there was nothing that could accommodate our group. We left the lines on to reduce the number of bugs crawling around. It was a very unpleasant experience. Upon leaving the property I was advised I would receive a partial refund for the inconvenience. In total I was refunded 199.99 for our troubles. I would not expect a full refund because we did stay there, but I expected more than 199.99. I waited to write my review, hoping they would make this right. I was even considering returning to the property this summer (after a good cleaning and water cleaning). I don't think so. The property needs to be cleaned better and fumigated before it's rented again. RENTER BEWARE!

Why they chose this property

I purchased this property because it falls quite near my alma mater, keeping me in close ties with friends that became family and local university events. Bashford has a great location and is conveniently located in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area. This home offers a lot of flexibility both in terms of lodging and entertaining for not only my family when we are here, but for my renters as well.

What makes this property unique

The Bashford has six spacious bedrooms that easily allow for small family gatherings and a convenient night's stay; keeping everyone close in a spacious home. The property's lot offers guests the opportunity to do some indoor/outdoor entertaining be they in the summer or fall months without having to go rent a local park. It has a nice amount of grass area for the kids, paved lot and covered deck w/a ceiling fan and patio seating for those that prefer a little less direct sunlight.
