About Carolyn Moore
An interior design lover at heart, I am the buyer for red: modern lines . vintage finds, on Main Street in Fredericksburg. I am the mother of two girls, now grown women, who are my delight and I spend most of my days looking for the best in modern and vintage home decor. Abby's is inspired by a trip I took with my daughters to Southern France in 1998 - I brought back a love for cool calming colors and seaside inspiration with a vintage-modern twist. I hope you enjoy Abby's as much as I have!
Carolyn Moore purchased this Cottage in 1992
Why Carolyn Moore chose Fredericksburg
I was drawn to Fredericksburg after my parents purchased a home from the town's early founding. After tiring of cold winters in the Midwest, the charm of Fredericksburg, the sunny days and beautiful green Hill Country won me over. I decided to move to the area with my girls and work on a home of my own. The blue bonnets and wildflowers each spring, coupled with fresh peaches from the local orchards and now the emerging wine country make this a beautiful place to live. Octoberfest and other seasonal festivals bring life to this small town, as does our vibrant Main Street. One hour from both Austin and San Antonio, I can hop in the car whenever I need to feel the city. For so many reasons, I feel lucky to call Fredericksburg home.
What makes this Cottage unique
When I bought my home, right next door to Abby's, I was charmed by the surrounding homes and the proximity to the heart of Fredericksburg. Many of the homes around Abby's were built over 100 years ago, and my dear neighbors are constantly gardening and maintaining them. Once I fell in love with the ample porch and vintage feel of my home, I immediately started to renovate - adding a pool in the backyard as soon as the spring came and building the limestone cabin that is now Abby's to share with friends and guests alike. I hope you'll make it your home away from home - a respite any time you want to get away from it all.

Great time, location & pool! Need to fix the toilet as it was running. Very quiet & we will be back.
Great little house
Stayed here for a birthday weekend. Was a great place, inside and out. The decor is beautiful and the bonus of having a pool just outside is great. Especially after climbing Enchanted Rock. It's in a great location and in a quiet neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again.
When can we move in?
We had an absolutely FABULOUS stay at Abby’s! Every detail was truly considered: snacks, coffee, makeup remover wipes, and beach towels for use at the pool. There were helpful notes throughout the house to make our stay more comfortable. And the location can’t be beat! We walked absolutely everywhere on Main Street. Highly recommend! We’d love to stay here again the next time we’re in Fredericksburg!
CAROLYN'S PLACE IS MIGHTY FINE
The wife and I stayed here for 1 week in early May. We chose this because of the location and the presence of a pool.
The hostess Carolyn was fabulous. She was helpful when contacted but never intrusive. She even provided a toaster oven when we mentioned that it would be a nice addition to the microwave since the cottage did not have an oven. We did not use it since Carolyn kindly allowed us to use the outside gas grill even though it was not a listed amenity.
Check-in and check-out were simple and stress free. The street parking in front was never a problem. The place is located a few blocks west of the beginning of the downtown stores/restaurants.
The house is stylish with a nautical theme. It was very clean. She provided written instructions on the use of the wi-fi which worked well. The cable TV was fine, but the Netflix never really worked because of the relatively slow internet speed.
The kitchen was small, but functional. There were enough glasses and table wear for 2 people to eat several meals there, but hand dish washing would be needed if you were to eat every meal there during the week.
The bed had a slightly awkward height making it difficult to sit on the edge while dressing. The mattress was a bit soft for my personal taste, but the wife liked it. The linens and pillows were plentiful.
The bathroom had a nice tiled walk in shower with a bench, It was a bit slippery at times. The shower had a large supply of hot water and adequate pressure.
The star of the home for us was the enclosed back yard with the pool and chairs with umbrellas. We had complete privacy every afternoon as Carolyn did not hang out by the pool. You do have to walk around the front of the house to get there which is a minor hassle. A back door in the house to the yard would be nice but I am sure would be very expensive to create.
Overall, Carolyn provided a clean and comfy cottage with a marvelous pool area. She was the perfect hostess. We would certainly stay here again if visiting the area in the future.
Very nice, very quiet. Pool great
Highly recommend staying here. Try August E’s and Cabernet for high end dinners. Tuscany wine tasting on main has great wines.
Nice cottage but not for tall people.
Nice little cottage at a reasonable price. Very clean and close to main part of town where all the action is. The bed is huge and comfortable. The kitchen is nice. We had two issues, the first was the shower. It is huge and brand new, but it is made with very slick tile on the floor. My wife and I both almost slipped. There is a bench in the shower which is wonderful, but the water pressure is too low to reach you if you are sitting on it. The shower head was adjustable but still not enough water pressure. The other issue is that the sofa and all chairs in the cottage are very short. I am 6’3” and had a hard time getting up off anything. If I was only average height, maybe no problem. It would be wonderful for average size people, but not for anyone taller than average. Almost forgot, the pool furniture is not for tall people either. Very short furniture.
***Abby's is located in the little stone cottage just to the LEFT of 112 North Acorn Street. The white house directly at 112 is my private residence.***
Located in the heart of Fredericksburg's historic district, Abby's is close to everything. Spend the day on an area wine tour, or shopping the stores of Main Street. Hike Enchanted Rock, or rent bikes from the local bike shop for a day of adventure through the Hill Country. Located within 1 mile of any of the local restaurants, enjoy dinner out and return to the pool in your backyard for an evening dip.
Fredericksburg is also about an hour away from San Antonio and Austin and makes a terrific home base for trips throughout Central Texas.
We can't wait to share Fredericksburg with you, at Abby's.
