Charming historic cast stone home cottage nestled in the middle of a neighborhood full of beautiful restored historic homes. This cozy home was once the original carriage house to one of the beautiful restored homes that is know as the “Spy House” because of atomic bomb drawings being sold by David Greenglass, the brother of the infamous Ethel Rosenburg, to a soviet spy. The “Spy House” is also a bed and breakfast where you will be more than welcome to have your breakfast at an additional cost of $10/per person when the B & B schedule permits. It is also within walking distance of many great restaurants.

There is one bedroom with a king-size bed that is next to a large living area that has a daybed that can pull out to an additional king-size bed or two twin beds.

The dining area is in the living area with an antique table that can be used just as a desk or pulls out to easily accommodate four people.

The private fenced backyard wraps around the house and has a bench and small table should you want to sit outside for diner or just to relax.

You are an easy 5-10 minutes from Convention Center, UNM, Hospitals, Old Town, Museums, Zoo, Airport, and even a shorter distance to great shopping, restaurants or even the movie theater. You are also within walking distance to the train/bus stations that can take you to many other great attractions in the Albuquerque area.

Weekly and monthly rates available only.

Normally bookings for less than one week are not accepted more than a month in advance (returning guests exempt).

No smoking, (Smoking permitted outside the house.) Sorry, no pets.

About Steve and Kara Grant

Steve and Kara Grant, the owners and innkeepers of the Downtown Historic Bed and Breakfasts of Albuquerque, have been residents of Albuquerque since 1999. When they first moved here, they settled in a typical home with their 3 children. But two years after their fourth little girl was born, they came across a unique house with an amazing story behind it in the downtown area of Albuquerque. The house was badly in need of TLC, but Kara fell in love with the house and Steve soon warmed up to it as well. They spent 6 months making the house livable and moved into it Christmas Eve of 2004. This house was the “Spy House” (ATOMIC BOMB SECRETS TRADED HERE), which they made their home for 5 years. The other building on the same property is the 'Carriage House', which is the one we currently use for VRBO business.

Excellent stay! Wonderful hosts! Great location!

I had a terrific stay during my three months at the Carriage House while in Albuquerque for work.

The house and decor are beautiful. The owners really pay attention to detail. Everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of cookware, dishes, and utensils. I slept well in the comfortable, king size bed. Bathroom was clean and Wifi is fast. The grounds are charming and peaceful.

The location is great - in the middle of downtown, walking distance to several nice restaurants(I recommend The Grove), convenient access to the interstate. Despite the location it manages to remain remarkably quiet there. The private parking spot for my rental car was also very convenient.

The hosts Steve and Kara are so accommodating, professional, and accessible. They provide exceptional service and are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. They made me feel I was apart of their family while I was away from my own, and their family and pets are so sweet! During Thanksgiving they even invited me to join them for dinner - so gracious!

I would love to stay here again. I highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful Private Cottage in Downtown Albuquerque

My wife and I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved the place. When we arrived, there were fresh baked cookies and scones and a bottle of wine. The cottage was clean and stocked well with basic items which was nice to not have to think about. The atmosphere really made us feel at home. It was really neat to see the other buildings that are part of the bed and breakfast and the shared private courtyard area was beautiful. It was very quiet while we were there which was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. It was a very easy walking distance from many restaurants, getting around was not difficult. Our experience was a fantastic one! We certainly hope to return in the future!

Needing a place to stay while working in Albuquerque, the Carriage House is the perfect home away from home! It is so cozy and has everything you need to be comfortable for a short or long stay. The B&B grounds are beautiful and you have your own, private parking spot which is great. Steve and Kara are wonderful and hospitable hosts. I highly recommend!

Quirky, private, and beautifully located.

We choose the Carriage House because of it's privacy, location, and private parking spot. It's only a few blocks from downtown Albuquerque, two blocks

to Central Avenue and a few blocks from a freeway ramp. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We especially enjoyed Artichokes

Restaurant on Central Avenue (3 blocks>.)

We mentioned quirky--another word for historic. The slate patio, steps, terrain and floor levels can be a little rustic. This should not be a problem for most

people, but if you have balance problems you may want to look elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay here. The owner's were accommodating and the location was outstanding for our touristy one week stay.

ABQ Heaven!!!

I got a job here in ABQ, and knew I'd have to find a place to stay for 3 months. That is FAR TOO long to endure hotel living, and when I found Steve and Kara's B&B I pinched myself. The listing for the Carriage House was beyond charming, and I'm here to tell you the real thing is EVEN BETTER. I had the most personal and comfortable experience in a town I'd never been to before. The accommodations are perfect, and the Grant family incredibly warm. If you are looking for something short OR long term, look no further. Stay here. I promise you will love it!!!!

Cute, Comfortable but not Particularly Clean

We stayed in the Cabinet House over the Thanksgiving Holiday. When we first arrived we were thrilled with the accommodations and location of the property. Unfortunately upon returning from the store with a few groceries, we discovered that the refrigerator/Freezer was not clean and had a few items from the previous person's stay.(Things other than the sodas that the owners nicely provide in the fridge) After cleaning the fridge and freezer we started taking a closer look around(as one does after finding part of their accommodations to be less clean than expected) to see of anything else needed cleaned. We found several other things that seemed in need of cleaning and then just wiped the whole bathroom down with Clorox wipes as a result and washed the dishes prior to using them.The owners were gone for the Thanksgiving holiday so we were unable to bring it to their attention until later in our stay. They stopped in to check on us which was very kind of them and offered to have the Cabinet House cleaned to remedy the situation. We were soon to returning home by the time the cleaning staff could return so we declined the offer. The washer and dryer in the unit were immensely useful and we had a lovely evening using the fireplace outside one evening before the cold set in. The owners are so nice and the property fun and unique so I wish I could give a better review. The unit really just needs a good "spring cleaning" type of a scrub down to be a perfect place for an extended stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for allowing us to accommodate you during your time in Albuquerque. I am so sorry you felt parts of the property did not fully meet your expectations and appreciate you pointing out things that we can work on to always improve our property for others. We do have cleaning staff on the property everyday and had offered to have them come and clean the house a second time for you the day after your arrival because of being unavailable the day you arrived (Thanksgiving Day). However, you declined to have that service provided. As for the items left in the refrigerator etc., since the property is often rented for longer term stays we stock it with items that we think might be useful during a stay, such as flour, sugar, sodas, water, spices etc. Therefore the items left in the house were not from other guests but items that we had personally provided in the house. We always make sure housekeeping followed up by us (the owners or management) walk through every room before any arrivals but apparently some items may have been over looked before your arrival. For this we apologize. We've had many other guests that have absolutely loved our property and therefore we take great pride in what we have to offer. Thank you again for your review and making us aware of what we can always do to improve our property for all other future guests.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be received 30 days before arrival date to avoid a cancellation fee of at least 50% of the total cost of your stay with a minimum charge of 7 nights. IF needing to depart for any reason earlier than original reservation dates, there is no refund or credit!

Balloon Fiesta Policy: 50% of the total cost of your stay will be charged at the time reservation is confirmed. Remaining amount of balance will be charged on AUGUST 1st. If needing to cancel before August 1st deposit will be refunded minus a 10% processing fee. After August 1st entire amount of reservation paid is non-refundable. Remaining balance due on reservation will be charged after August 1st. Any reservations made after August 1st full amount of reservation will be charged upon confirmation and is non-refundable.

Check-In: Check-in time is at 3:00PM. Early check-in to drop off bags can be arranged if needed.

Check-Out: Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. If desired, arrangements can be made to store your bags until the time of your departure.

Smoking: We are a non-smoking facility.

Pets: Pets are not permitted.
