Our stay was perfect...we found nothing that we would change!!!
Relaxing lakeside cottage -- perfect for weekend getaway!
Needed a girls weekend, and wanted a relaxing place to getaway. This cute cottage fit the bill perfectly. Plenty of space for curling up on comfy couches inside, or hanging out on the deck-with-a-lakeview outside! Beds upstairs were comfy -- the 3rd bedroom is downstairs and we didn't use that one. It's a perfect 2 mile walk around the lake for a little exercise and we brought our own kayaks for a paddle. The neighborhood is quiet, and we enjoyed a fire in the firepit in the evening (bring your own wood). We never got in our cars once we arrived, which is exactly what we wanted! Sunsets were spectacular! We'd return!!!
Brighton, MI Stay on the lake
Over all we enjoyed our stay in the cottage at Brighton, MI. The location was great and we were able to make our stay comfortable. We were disappointed with cleanliness of the cottage. The cottage needed a good cleaning along with the appliances (coffee pot, microwave, oven, toaster oven, etc). The outside of the house was covered with spiders and cobwebs. Had to hunt for a broom to us to clean the spiders and cobwebs from the outside and inside of the house. On the inside, the baseboards were dusty, dead bugs on window sills. Bed sheets on main floor bedrooms were not clean. Washed both bedroom sheets and was able to use on one set of sheets. Bought a set a sheets for the master bed. There were not enough bathroom towels and wash cloths. We bought extra towels and wash cloths to use while we were there. The garage was a mess. One morning with out warning, plumbers showed up to fix a broken drain line that we were not aware of. With a little TLC this cottage would be a wonderful place. Over all we did enjoy our stay at the cottage and visiting with family and friends that we haven't seen for years.
Thank you for your input! I am sorry to hear that you were concerned about things at the house. I wish that you had called or emailed me regarding your concerns. My summer home is three doors away and I would have addressed all of your concerns if I had just known about them. We try to make all of our guests stays as enjoyable as possible. As far as the plumbers, I had learned of a possible plumbing leak that would have effected your stay, so I had it addressed so as to not effect your stay. I am glad to hear that you were able to enjoy your visit with family and friends.
Had an amazing week here. Lake and surroundings incredibly peaceful. Quiet, clean and I was comfortable the moment I arrived. Planning my next trip back already!!
Memorial Day weekend
The cottage is clean, quaint and spacious. The lake is small and very quiet - even on a holiday weekend. Sheets, towels and paper products were provided, as well as hotel sized shampoos and soap. We used bottled water for drinking as the tap water has a metallic smell and taste.
Located very close to downtown Brighton - easy to get to restaurants and stores.
We would definitely stay here again.
Enjoyed our stay and would return. House is rustic and comfortable. Everything we needed and helpful hosts.
Brighton is know for its restaurants. There are many downtown. Within 20 minute drive to Ann arbor and U-M. MSU is 45 minutes away. Great location to attend the sports or graduation at both schools. 1000's of acres of state land is within 3 miles. Mt Brighton is very close and is now owned by Vail. Outlet shopping at Tanger Outlets is within 12 miles. The cottage is located on a quiet private lake. The cottage/house is in a quiet neighborhood, on a paved road.
