IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
• This property is riverfront on a whitewater river. All access and use of the river is at your own risk. You must be prepared to closely watch your children (and husbands/boyfriends)!
• This property used to have a hot tub. It was removed in early 2018. All references to its presence have been removed form the listing itself, but we cannot delete previous reviews which may have mentioned this feature. It is no longer there.
• Like all major rivers, the French Broad river canyon also serves as a transportation artery. This includes the road that this home is located on and a rail line across the river. There are no crossings, so the trains do not blow their whistles or ring bells... you'll occasionally hear the romantic rumble of the trains over the sound of the river. This is a minor trade-off to being on the riverfront, but we believe you'll agree it's a worthy one.

Christmas in the Mountains
The property was beautiful and had a lot of room for us the spread out! There were 11 of us! House was stocked with everything we needed and the owner was very quick to respond with questions! Even had a foosball dropped off at the house when we couldn’t find one! Would highly recommend this property!

Location, Location, Location
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the French Broad River Lodge over Thanksgiving. In the world of real estate there's a popular quote that maintains the three things you look for in property are location, location, location. That quote is just as applicable to this property. We were all amazed that we were situated in a rather bucolic setting smack dab on the French Broad River, but within 20 minutes we could be in the center of Asheville. There is no shortage of nearby activities to occupy your time and dining and water hole opportunities abound--not enough time to cover them all here. However, not mentioned in the owner's guide was a relatively new and nearby brewery called the Salt Face Mule. They offer a large variety of excellent craft beer brewed in house and their laid-back food menu is a perfect match for even the most discriminating palates. I think we'll be making a return visit to this property and pick up where we left off.

Enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful setting on the river with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Dishwasher didn’t clean as well as we would have liked and it would have been helpful to have instructions on how to operate the tv’s. Overall it was a great place for a large gathering.

Best Experience Ever
We had a family event and multiple people stay at the lodge over 5 days. This was the most beautiful property and the owner was very accommodating. The outdoor space was perfect for our event and the amount of seating was incredible! I could not have asked for a better experience for our family. The rooms and bathrooms were impeciblely clean and comfortable.

We are two families that are long-time friends and co-workers. Between us we have kids ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers, and we love to travel to the Asheville area. We have rented a number of the available properties, but wanted to find the ideal spot... so we decided to create it ourselves. If we weren't busy working (as environmental engineers, a Realtor/former NASA flight operations engineer, and a microcontroller product engineer, turned author) we'd be fighting over which family would get to move in full-time!

Why they chose this property

In short, the RIVER!!!! After sharing another property as a vacation rental last year, and seeing that we weren't the only ones seeking out the perfect property, we thought we should try to find another ideal vacation home and vacation rental. When we found this home, we immediately saw the potential. After undergoing an extensive renovation completed in 2015, it had the attributes we were looking for: multiple master bedrooms, great views, completely modernized amenities, and ideal convenience to all that the Asheville area has to offer.

What makes this property unique

Key benefits of River House are:
- Riverfront property this close to downtown!
- multiple master bedrooms with en-suite baths
- 6 bedrooms and 5 and a half baths
- over 2000 square feet of decks/outdoor living space
- walls of windows to view the river
- easy all-paved access to a major freeway
- high speed internet and cell coverage (rare for mountain properties)
