About Alishia Synan

Our family loves to hunt, shoot, swim, ski, hike and enjoy the great outdoors. We also gather with our family here at Laurel Ridge Lodge for ski trips and reunions and business getaways. We're local to the area and want to share our home with you.

Alishia Synan purchased this lodge in 2011

Why Alishia Synan chose Donegal

We purchased this home because of it's beautiful location in the Laurel Highlands. We enjoy staying here on family outings/reunions and hope you will too!

What makes this lodge unique

We enjoy hunting, hiking and shooting in the Donegal/Laurel Highlands area and this is quite close to those activities. The house is large enough to accommodate our extended families, so we spend a lot of time just visiting with each other at the house or hanging out at the pool/hot tub.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a very enjoyable week despite some very unusual weather. This house was a great accommodation for all 12 of us. Lots of space for living, eating and playing. We explored the Laurel Highlands each day and returned here to unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquility each night.

Thank you for providing us with a beautiful place where we could enjoy our time together.

amazing property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Laurel Ridge Lodge over President's Day weekend. We had a group of close to 30 people. The property was perfect for our group. We spent Saturday skiing at Hidden Valley. It was about a 20 minute drive. We prepared several meals in the kitchen and all ate dinner together at the huge table. We found the house to be clean and comfortable with nice towels and linens. It is in a beautiful location with amazing views. We enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor fire pit. I would say that it was better than expected from the pictures shown. The only minor issue was the inability to control the thermostat on site. Some of us were very hot and some of us cold during the night. But we plan to be back. Maybe in the summer to enjoy the pool and beautiful outdoor spaces. Thank you!

  • 5 of 5

This facility is amazing!!!! My guests where so impressed with the size of the rooms and the wonderful decor. The house is wonderful equipped with the many room properly furnished and enough towels. All the soaps for laundry and bathroom where ready to go. It was like staying In a first class hotel in the middle of beautiful laurel mountains. It's very private and we where load at night with no problem.

Hot tub and pool is a big day and night time enjoyment.

The management was handled very well and special thanks to Alisha.

Unique House, Unreliable Water and A/C, Poor Customer Service

  • 1 of 5

While this house is unique and appeared to offer lots of amenities, it proved to be an incredible disappointment. A party of 11 were staying there for 3 nights for a local wedding. The two major issues with the house, other than the property manager's slow and sometimes non response to inquiries, were the lack of water and air conditioning.

There clearly was a problem with the water pump which was known to the owner as it is mentioned in the house manual; it went out numerous times each day. Every morning there was no water in the pipes. The reset protocol only worked half the time. The caretaker came over only once to deal with the situation; he said he would come over two other times and never showed up. The unavailability of water particularly for showers during the 3 days as we were getting ready for wedding events was a major inconvenience. Related to the water was the water level in the pool which was low and the pool was scummy.

The house has central air conditioning which can only be controlled by contacting the caretaker. During the afternoons the temperature was above 80 degrees inside and per the manual's instruction, we texted the caretaker to adjust the temperature. We never received a response and the temperature was not adjusted.

Other items that need to be fixed are: the grill was out of commission and the dishwasher did not drain (maybe related to water issue).

Immediately following the 3 day stay, we communicated these issues with the caretaker who said she would pass them on the the owner who would get back in touch with us to discuss some reduction in the rental fee as the house was not as promised. It has been over one week and we have received no response nor has our security deposit been returned. We are HomeAway/VRBO owners ourselves and have never treated a renter the way we have been treated in this house.

Terrific property

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful spacious home, complete with everything you can possibly need. There were 16 of us, including children and no one was ever bored or lacking privacy.

Correspondence could be better, but they have a good system in place. The well pump needed reset way too often, and it wasn't weather related. The movie room, pool and hot tub were a hit. We even made 7 homemade pizzas in the outdoor oven!

I would love to come back again one day. Thank you for making a terrific home available!

Great getaway in the Laurel Highlands!

  • 5 of 5

A group of around 20 of us stayed at the Laurel Ridge Lodge in July and had an excellent experience. Our highlights were the pool / porch area, and the great dining room table that fit all of us for dinner. The house and bedrooms were all clean and tidy.

We had some minor issues during our stay, but the owner was extremely responsive and they were all solved quickly.

Pros and Cons of Laurel Ridge Lodge

  • 3 of 5

Pros: pool great, views great, good sized kitchen, great grill.

Cons: not well cleaned, food bits left in drawers, items from previous tenants left in closets, refrigerator dirty, vent above stove and disposal didn't work. We called soon after arrival to advise and no one came to repair. Scum in some of the toilets, leak in ceiling of room 5, which had been there for awhile because plaster had fallen. Occupants of that room had to put bowl under leak to catch water. Lamp in that room had a sign on upon our arrival that it didn't work. TV remotes not in rooms where TVs were they were to be paired with. Moldy plastic water toys in poolside container, which we threw out.

We made the best of a less than great situation because our family chose to have a good time in spite of being in lodge which needed more careful attention.
