About this property

Relaxing Mountain Get-away, Close To Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park

Ruby's Retreat is a two-story mountain home. It is located on one acre of level land, surrounded by trees, native wildflowers and wildlife. We do have neighbors who also have 1-5 acres of land, with one next door neighbor who helps with the managing and maintaining the property and assisting guests when needed. The interior is furnished in a western, rustic, mountain décor theme, with lodge-pole furniture. A queen size bed is in the master bedroom. Twin beds are in the upstairs, finished loft. A queen size sleeper sofa is in the great room, which has a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams. A propane fireplace and recliner chair are also in the Great Room. It has a fully furnished kitchen, with stove, oven, frig, microwave, pots and pans, coffee maker, crock pot and blender. The one bathroom is located on the main floor. Fresh linens and towels are provided. Outside, the back deck provides mountain views; a patio table and four chairs and a two-seat glider. The back deck also has a propane grill for your use. The covered front porch provides additional mountain views, enjoyed from a porch swing. There is internet connection at this location. A land-line phone is available. Depending on your provider, there is limited cell phone reception at this mountain location.

Family RMNP Vacation
The cabin was perfect for our family! It was so close to the RMNP Wild Basin entrance which let us get a great early morning start for our hikes! It was also close to Estes Park and the bear lake entrance that we went in several times. We frequented the Crystal Spring in Allenspark and there was a little store for any forgotten necessities right there as well. The cabin was super clean and the kids loved the loft area which was perfect for them! Definitely recommend this cabin for families (or anyone) looking for a home base for RMNP adventures!

Great cabin for a getaway
Great cabin for a Colorado vacation to Rocky Mountain National park. Was close to the park while being able to be a way from the crowds of Estes Park. Would highly recommend staying here.

Old school but good value
So pros: amazingly quiet , serene and naturally pretty location; everything was very clean ; decor was old school but quite charming in its own way- takes you back to simpler times ; Cons: no air conditioning and even with the windows wide open , the bedrooms ( both master and loft ) were very warm and stuffy several of the days we stayed ( we did find A small fan in the bedroom closet after a few days but it was not very strong or helpful ; also no washing machine or dishwasher , had to haul our own trash most days ( one day a guy came by to get it but we had already had to rage care of it on our own by then ) and the shower and kitchen sink had super low water pressure -so housework took longer than when I’m not on vacation…. however for the price ( lower than most competitors) , all in all, a good value and a pleasant stay ;

About the host

'Ruby's Retreat' was built in 1993 by my parents, Loren and Ruby, as a family vacation home. After their passing, my sister and I inherited the family cabin. In order to keep it available for our extended family use, we decided to open it up for short-term vacation rental. My name is Ted Hollman, I live in Colorado and manage and maintain our family cabin. Our guests always comment that our mountain home has a warm 'homey, cozy' feel to it, that immediately makes them feel welcome. I think this is because our property started and remains a family cabin, rather than purchased as an investment property.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin is located outside of the small mountain villages of Allenspark and Ferncliff, which are close to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (main entrance 18 miles away, Wild Basin entrance to RMNP 5 miles away). Our cabin is off the beaten path in a relaxing, natural mountain setting. Our family cabin, located on one acre of land, has mountain views, wild mountain flowers, many pine trees, level ground (by Rocky Mountain standards) to make for easy walking and a relaxing stay. Our cabin is well-furnished with everything a family will likely need for a relaxing mountain vacation.

What makes this property unique

Located in the Pine Valley area outside of the village of Allenspark and Ferncliff, Colorado, Ruby's Retreat is surrounded by mountain views in every direction. While popular destinations such as Estes Park and Rocky Mountain Nation Park are a 1/2 hour away, Ruby's Retreat gives you a relaxed, non-touristy area to retreat to. Our guests describe our cabin as cozy, homey and welcoming. Enjoy watching the flames in the Franklin stove from my Grandfather's recliner. Appreciate all the work my father put into making the lodge pole bed, sofa, chest of drawers and pole lamp. Enjoy a good night's sleep on my grandmother's antique twin metal frame beds in the loft sleeping area.
