About this property

Tranquil Paradise With Lake And Catskill Mountain Views

Nestled high on the hill looking out over Pepacton reservoir, you'll find our treetop bungalow set in 5 acres of woodland and wildflower gardens. Travel just 2.5 hours from the George Washington bridge and leave the city far behind. Reconnect with fresh air, tranquility, and nature. This is true wilderness (but we still have super fast fiber optic internet!).

The 1,400 square foot Rainbow Ranch has two bedrooms (one king, one queen) and 1.5 bathrooms providing a spacious getaway for 4. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to make a delicious meal out of the fresh organic produce and homemade delights you find at farm stands and farmer’s markets and there's a dishwasher to ease the clean up.

Walk through the dining room to the giant living room and warm yourself at the bluestone fireplace, flanked by octagonal windows. Step through the picture window to the sweeping sundeck – nearly the size of the house again. Recline and enjoy your morning coffee listening to the birds and looking out over the lake with the Catskill mountains reaching out beyond.

If you can tear yourself away from the view, there are awesome hikes (everywhere!), swimming holes (20 mins), fly fishing on Beaverkill (30 min), fishing/kayaking on Pepacton Reservoir (5 mins), swimming at little pond (20 min), skiing at Belleayre (25 mins) and Plattekill (30 mins), Belleayre Music Festival (15 mins), legendary fall colors (everywhere!), antiques, auctions, and crafts (everywhere!). Have a Tesla /EV vehicle and want to explore the area? We have a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the parking area, just bring your charging cable and adapter.

Don't feel like roasting marshmallows around our campfire or lying in the hammock under countless stars surrounded by fireflies or forest bathing with a cocktail on our rocking chairs in the woods? Head to Andes (15 min), an upstate NYC outpost, and get big city comforts with a village vibe. Margaretville (great supermarket - 5 min), Bovina (15 min) Arkville (8 min), and Roxbury (20 min) also offer great dining options and mountain hospitality.

We’ll provide a full list of tips on activities, trails, and places to eat after booking so you can get the most out of your stay. You’ll return to the city recharged, laden with delicious produce, and planning your next trip!

We practice CDC cleaning guidelines and check in and out is contactless. It is our upmost concern that our guests, and the people that help us make Rainbow Ranch the great place it is, stay healthy and safe.

Peaceful winter retreat in the Catskills
My wife and I and our two dogs had a wonderful week-long stay at Rainbow Ranch. We came up from the city for a peaceful place to work and relax. The home was perfect for our plans and had everything we could possibly need including blankets and all the kitchen necessities. We had beautiful snow on the ground for our first couple of days but felt cozy inside. We loved how much sun comes in through the many windows all day long and so did the dogs (chronic sunbathers!). We will definitely be back next winter.

I used to word "spectacular"
My wife and I have been coming to the region for more than 12 years. We have stayed at several different places but we think from now on, THIS will be "THE ONE". I tend not to use the word, but found myself thanking the owners by saying "everything was SPECTACULAR"! It is really the perfect out of the way place for a quiet vacation, but still close enough to the rest of things in the region. Your first day, you might want to arrive while there is still light, as the final turns can be confusing. Once you have done it though, it is actually very easy. There are so many positives to this place, I don't know really how to list them all. Beautiful kitchen, great fireplace, wonderful deck, comfy beds! Thanks for a great few days. We can not wait to return
