The surrounding nature preserve is truly magnificent. We invite you to come stay at our home in McCormick Woods for a while and explore. There is plenty to do whether you are hiking, bicycling, boating, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, playing tennis or checking out the playground with your kids.

Puget Sound has a has one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world. According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the best shrimping and crabbing in the area is along the Hood Canal. Gear anglers trolling out of boats will find good Coho, Pink and Chinook salmon fishing throughout the sound. Cutthroat salmon travel along the beaches. To discover the many hidden treasures, not to mention shipwrecks, visit a local dive shop or sign up for an underwater dive tour guide to orient yourself. Favorite spots for local scuba divers include Harper’s Pier in Port Orchard and Manchester.

While immersing yourself in the beauty of nature, you can still be close to the amenities of suburban living. Enjoy a meal, entertainment, or wedding reception at the McCormick Woods Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar, or drive down the Port Orchard waterfront for dinner at Amy’s on the Bay. Live theater at the Western Center for Fine Arts, located near the Marina is fun, as well as browsing antique stores and the Log Cabin Museum. Beauty salons, gyms, movie theaters, health care, and even the Kitsap County Court House and Administrative Offices are located within 4 miles of the house so you don’t have to go far for anything you might need. Port Orchard has shopping centers dotted throughout the city. Families particularly enjoy a Seagull Calling Contest, live music, farmers market and car show, and boat rendezvous in the summer. Thousands pack downtown for the city’s annual Festival of Chimes and Lights, and the Jingle Bell Run/Walk in December.

Nearby Bremerton offers a beautiful downtown Harborside area which includes fine dining, coffee shops and the Marina with many permanent ships as well as visiting boaters. Enjoy a stroll through the Arts District and visit the Naval Museum, Harborside Fountain Park, and the Memorial Plaza, all near the Bremerton Ferry Terminal.

Be sure to catch a ferry to Seattle for a day of shopping, Pike’s Market, and/or ride the monorail, to check out the view of Puget Sound from the Space Needle. The WA State Ferry Systems can also take you on scenic journeys to Victoria, and/or one of the many islands in the Puget Sound Area.

Visitors and newcomers to the Pacific Northwest are increasingly choosing Kitsap Peninsula as the preferred alternative to pricier markets. They are leaving the bumper to bumper traffic and congestion behind. When there is a need/desire to connect with the big city life, Seattle is a short, scenic ferry ride away.

About Lorraine

After teaching for thirty four years, and repairing cars, and airplanes and investing in properties for even longer, we have retired to a life of 'snow birds', creating home(s) along the west coast. Our home on the McCormick Woods Golf Course is one of our favorites. When we are not playing with the house/ yard, or working on the computer, we are exploring the North West, reading, visiting with friends and family, going for long walks through the Mc Cormick Woods neighborhood, 'workng out' at the YMCA, or driving off for another adventure in our RV.

Lorraine purchased this house in 2008

Why Lorraine chose Port Orchard

We love the ambience, especially the fresh air, forests, clear skies and the natural beauty of the Puget Sound area. It is a great place to take a deep breath, relax, enjoy nature, and explore the wealth of outdoor activities. Being removed from the huslte and bustle of major cities, yet still having easy access to Seattle and other favorites like Gig Harbor, Silverspring, Tacoma, and British Columbia has been an important consideration for us.

What makes this house unique

One chief advantage of staying here is the price: Housing in this area is very inexpensive for what you get. The neighborhood is exceptionally well maintained, and the semi-forested setting feels very peaceful.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. It is very spacious and tastefully decorated. It was a great place for us to stay for our vacation and we may never stay in a hotel again. Thanks again, Lorraine, for allowing us to have the use of your house.

Beautiful, peaceful, and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost I want to thank Lorraine for letting us stay in her home. 5 stars!!! This house is beautiful and clean. With a beautiful garden. Lots a deer walking by and little squirrels enjoying pine cones. Wonderfully stocked kitchen although you do have to purchase food but that is a given. If I ever visit PNW this is where I will be staying. Only 2 hours from Mt Rainier and Olymic National park.

The property was beautiful. Trees, shrubs, squirrels, rabbits & deer to just round it off. It's close to other homes but feels secluded. The house is lovely but still homey feeling. All the amenities are there for any of us travelers to use. You can get almost anywhere in the greater Bremerton & Port Orchard area in 20 minutes or less. I would highly recommend this property to any family or friend.
