About this property

Two Bedroom Cottage On 2 Acre Stocked Pond Minutes From Downtown Indianapolis

A stay in our 1,200 sq. ft. guest cottage will help make any visit to Indianapolis one to remember. Located on a nine acre country estate just twenty minutes east of downtown Indianapolis, Buck Creek Cottage offers both business and vacation guests a great opportunity to experience the city and relax in the country.

Built in 1994, the cottage is just fifty feet from our private two acre stocked lake, so bring your fishing gear. As the photos illustrate , the cottage is fully furnished with the newest amenities. A central heating and air conditioning system ensures that your stay will be comfortable winter or summer.

Over three acres of maintained grounds and gardens offer the perfect setting for a comfortable evening at home after visiting the sites and offerings of Indianapolis.

While most of Indianapolis' finest restaurants are located less than twenty minutes away, a fully equipped modern kitchen that includes a five burner gas range, double stainless steel sinks, ample counter and prep surfaces and full size dishwasher and refrigerator offers an easy alternative to eating out. An outdoor gas grill is provided in case your cooking preference is grilling.

If you're interested in golf, a dozen courses are within a twenty minute drive.

If shopping is your sport, Indianapolis' best shopping locations are all within a twenty-thirty minute drive. Grocery stores, pharmacies, and general sundries, as well as pizza and other fast food, are all less than five minutes away.

Wi-fi and cable service are included, and a large HD flat screen offers the option to just stay home and take it easy if you're so inclined.

One bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed while the other contains a pair of twin beds. Two roll away beds can be used to sleep up to six adults. We also provide camp air mattresses for children and a Pack and Play, with mattress, for toddlers.

As photo #15 shows, the linear layout of the cottage's one bathroom permits simultaneous and comfortable usage of the walk-in shower and sink.

The entry area to the cottage contains a large dining area and breakfast counter and an open pass through to the kitchen area for easy service. The living room is located just off the dining area, and the combination offers the opportunity to entertain a small group of friends or family if desired.

While most of the lake's shoreline is maintained in its natural state, a cantilevered deck is located at the shoreline nearest the cottage for fishing, swimming, or sunbathing. Adirondack chairs and a picnic table are also available to ensure your time outdoors at Buck Creek Cottage is as comfortable and enjoyable as your time indoors.

A large fire pit located near the cantilevered deck is provided for those evenings under the stars. Firewood is provided for a couple of fires.

Please note that the pictures include photos of the property's main residence to show the grounds and gardens and facilitate easier identification of the property as the cottage sits fifty yards behind the main house and a hundred yards from Buck Creek Road. The cottage address is 384 Buck Creek Rd., Indianapolis, IN, 46229. Use this address, and either Google Maps or Waze will direct you to the driveway of the main house. Park at the end of the driveway, and you'll see the cottage immediately ahead.

We look forward to your visit.

Great place!
We came to watch the total eclipse. We drove in and had everything we needed and never had to leave the premises. The tv was great for watching the final four basketball games, the kitchen had everything needed including spices. But the dock was the ultimate for viewing the eclipse with wonderful chairs. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with more than enough geese, birds and fish. I can’t thank the owners enough for giving us sole use of the dock on this big day and delicious cookies!

Indianapolis
We just had our first VRBO vacation. It was AWESOME!!!! So relaxing. So clean. The home owners were an absolute dream from scheduling to answering questions after our arrival. We were greeted with a delicious plate of homemade cookies and a personal note from the owners. The pond was well-stocked, just as promised. We didn’t have any issues with our stay, but if we had I feel certain they would have been handled promptly and efficiently. I am already looking forward to our next trip to Indianapolis and staying at the cottage on a 2-acre pond!!!

This property has been an ongoing project since we bought it in 1983. Over the years we have added the guest cottage, the two acre stocked lake, and a substantial addition to the main residence. These additions were intended to help induce our children, once adults, to visit often. They visit when they can, but the closest one lives over five hours away, so frequent visits are not practical. So here we sit with a huge main house, a lovely guest cottage and wonderful grounds, lake and gardens and not nearly enough visitors enjoying them.

The income from the rentals will help maintain the estate and the interaction with our renters, if so desired, will help maintain our sanity.

I've lived in Indianapolis all my life and my wife has lived in the area since she started teaching in 1976. We love the area and we think we can help make your visit, whether business or pleasure, a more enjoyable one.

Why they chose this property

Our property is located near Cumberland, Indiana, apparently the first stage coach stop east of Indianapolis on what became the Cumberland Road. Originally part of a forty-five acre farm owned by one of Cumberland's first merchants, in the late twenties the property was divided into five parcels. When we bought the property in the early eighties we thought it would be a nice place to live. With all the improvements we have made over the years, we now think it's also a great place to visit. Apparently our nieces and nephews agree, as they nicknamed the property 'Larryland'. And while, like our children, they are now adults, they still look forward to visiting 'Larryland' during both summer and winter holidays.

What makes this property unique

As the pictures illustrate, we maintain our residence on the grounds where Buck Creek Cottage is located. While we won't necessarily be around all the time we will be available when you first check in, assuming you have been able to give us a reasonable arrival time window. We will certainly find time early in your stay to answer any questions you may have about Indianapolis' shopping, attractions and restaurants.
