'The Lonestar' is a truly magical houseboat. Featured in books and magazines, it was recently used as the model for the houseboat in the CBS series 'Parenthood'.
The houseboat was built in the 1960's. The hull is a World War 2 Landing Craft, and some of the original features can still be seen.
The french doors and windows were salvaged from an old Victorian house in San Francisco.
The layout of the interior is featured in the book 'Houseboats', by Kathy Shaffer, AIA. The small space, 11 x 36, is brilliantly designed for the best ergonomic use and comfort.
The loveliest feature of the Lonestar is the quality of light and the reflection of the water, which shimmers in the boat all day much like a prism. There is never a sense of being indoors, rather a feel of being rocked on the water in an open boat.
'The Lonestar' is a special experience which you will remember with joy.
