• Maine CDC recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated continues to wear a face covering in public indoor settings.
• US CDC requires that people wear face coverings in all forms of public transportation, such as planes, buses, and trains.
• US CDC specifically recommends that people wear face coverings in healthcare settings and in congregate living settings like jails and shelters.

Description of Property:

A beautiful cabin in a peaceful setting on two acres of pine forest. Birdsong is conveniently situated in picturesque Somesville right in the middle of Mount Desert Island, minutes from Acadia National Park and 8 miles to the town of Bar Harbor. The layout is an open living/kitchen/dining area with a beautiful wood interior and cathedral ceiling. The room is filled with natural light from the many windows and skylights. Birdsong is a wonderful place to come home to after a day in Acadia!
Birdsong Cabin is located in Somesville, 'Mt Desert.' A perfect location. Right in the middle of Mt Desert Island 'MDI'. 9 minutes to Bar Harbor, 5 minutes to Southwest Harbor . Swimming at Echo Lake and Long Pond 3 minutes away.

Best to come without really small children, but if so, they must be accompanied when using the ladder to the loft. One dog is OK if it is supervised at all times. And if left alone, DOES NOT BARK, and must be crated. If anyone complains, renters must make other arrangements unfortunately. If damage from scratching, it will be taken from security deposit.

Great, quiet location!!
The house and property were exactly as described and we greatly enjoyed the relative quiet and solitude while also being in a centralized location on Mount Desert Island. Lisa was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. It worked great for our family and would gladly stay again!

A Great Woodsy Spot
We had a very nice week at Birdsong. The central location in Somesville, in the middle of Mt Desert Island, provides easy access to anywhere on the island - Acadia, Seal Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Bar Harbor are all within a short drive. It is definitely cabin living but the three of us (including our Boston Terrier) had plenty of space to move around. We saw deer in the surrounding woods by simply looking out the windows. A great Maine experience!

Perfectly situated quiet escape
Located right in the middle of MDI, this secluded home provided quick and easy access to everything in the island. The property was quiet and peaceful, while still providing everything our family needed to have a wonderful stay! Would definitely recommend staying here!

Birdsong
Perfect location for exploring all of MDI. We especially loved easy access to SW Harbor, Echo Lake, Long Pond, Beech Hill Farm, and all the Quietside hikes. Further jaunts to Schoodic, Little Long Pond and the Park Loop were easy too. The property is exactly as described (including plentiful songbirds) and the owner is conscientious. We had hot weather, and indoor temperature stayed in 80s despite strategic use of shades, windows, fans etc. for most of our 2-week stay in July. Consider staying here in other seasons if you would be comfortable in cooler temps.

I am a graphic designer, artist and music lover. An avid hiker and camper, I have been coming to Mt. Desert Island for over twenty years.

Why they chose this property

I rented this cabin four years ago and loved being here! Somesville is so central to everything on the island. When it became available to purchase I knew it was the spot I was hoping for!

What makes this property unique

The cabin's privacy, being down a dirt road, combined with its lovely arts and crafts interior make it special. Two acres of pine woods near the top of Somes Sound is a real find.
