Beautiful views
Great base to explore beautiful Tuscan hilltop villages. Montisi itself is a very interesting village with a festival in August and many activities. The house also has 3 separate outdoor dining areas and breathtaking views of Tuscan landscapes.

Il Colombaio is a very special place
It really feels like you are staying at a friend’s house rather than a rented villa. Perfectly located for visiting the major Tuscan towns but situated in a real village with few other tourists, easily reached by a stroll through the olive groves. The house is beautiful; Michael has furnished it with an incredible collection of items from around the world which all complement each other and the house. The kitchen is extremely well equipped; with our love of cooking, this was one of our favourite rooms. We loved the garden and enjoyed having different areas to sit in and enjoy the peace and the amazing views throughout the day. It was hot during our stay but the shutters kept the heat out and it was a joy to come back to the cool villa and pool after outings. We are planning our return visit! Thank you Michael for a great holiday and for being a wonderful and welcoming host.

Perfect location in a beautiful setting
We had an amazing time at Michael’s house in Montisi. The house itself is a well preserved traditional farmhouse with a very well stocked kitchen, which we really appreciated. The town of Montisi has a shop a bar and a few restaurant is a short 10 minute walk away (on private or small roads), which was easy with the 3 toddlers we brought. Michael was a thoughtful and attentive host, and provided us with contacts for a babysitter and a chef for a few nights our stay (would recommend!). He knows a lot about the local area and was happy to assist with recommendations. The area is unbelievably beautiful, and the house is situated on a ridge with amazing views of the sunsets over the Tuscan hills. We were close to a few wine making areas, other picturesque towns, and fantastic restaurants (especially Il Conte Matto). Overall the stay was wonderful and I would highly recommend!

I am American born and have now been living in Montisi and working here for 14 years and coming here since 1972 when I was five years old. The old podere ( a working farm) was lived in by generations of contadini until two years before my parents bought it in 1972. While restoring the house we wanted to maintain the simplicity and beauty of a historical farmhouse with its hand-hewn doors and manger boards, both keeping and creating a warm and welcoming environment. I still take care of the house and the surrounding olives which I prune in the spring and harvest in the fall making a fantastic olive oil that our area is known for.

Why they chose this property

At Il Colombaio di Momo you will find yourself staying in a house which has been our family home for over forty years. In the restoration of il Colombaio we preserved much of it's character and feel of it's origins. With a comfortable open space living room and an ample garden it is a great place to relax and get to know the village of Montisi with it's restaurants and bars. A small and inviting town you'll feel welcomed and experience a little of what small village life is like. If you come at the right time of year you can participate in our town festival, a jousting competition on horseback and all in medieval costume, white truffle festival, olive oil festival, a newborn film festival and more....
