About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-10)

Nestled in the mountains, we are surrounded by tall, fragrant pines… perfect for bringing the family together in this spacious yet cozy cabin with huge loft.

There are 2 bedrooms, each with a Queen bed, and a Cal-King bed and 4 Twins in the loft. We have free WiFi, a full kitchen, large living room with comfy couches, wood-burning fireplace, and dining table which seats 6 comfortably (8 if you squeeze in) which is perfect for dining together or playing games with the whole family. Additionally we have 3 stools at the kitchen counter. There is large 50" TVs in both the living room and loft that have hook ups for a laptop or iPad (just plug into the USB cables provided). Additionally, the loft has a DVD player plus many games and puzzles (baby gate available for stairs). The wrap-around deck is brand new, pet- and child-friendly, and has a gas BBQ and tables and chairs so you can enjoy the beautiful surrounding trees.

On a special note, our cleaner uses only green, environmentally-friendly products (without adding cost or sacrificing cleanliness) so we can provide a healthier environment for your family and for the beautiful Sierras you’ve come to experience. The house is also up-to-date with smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector for your family’s protection.

WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE SAID:

-- “It is very clean and well kept up. The decorations and small touches are very warm and comfortable, lots of cute touches. You'll immediately feel right at home here.” ~Gary, Vallejo CA

-- “This is a great cabin… with open windows allowing plenty of sun light and views [of the surrounding trees]... This must be the best valued cabin in Arnold!' ~Bill, Manteca CA

-- “Terri & Tim were honest & great to deal with… Look forward to going back with friends next year!” ~Eric, Scotts Valley CA

-- “I live in the SF Bay Area and the drive to Arnold is shorter and much less stressful than the drive to Tahoe. This will definitely be our new winter escape and looking forward to going in the other seasons as well.”

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA:

For summertime fun, it’s just a short trip (less than ½ mile) down the hill to Fly-In Lake, complete with a small sandy beach and floating raft for swimming and playing (and don’t forget to watch the geese “fly in” at dusk!). Nearby is an 18-hole golf course as well as the Blue Lake Springs Recreation Center where your family is welcome to use our Owner’s Pass to enjoy the swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball, ping pong, bocce courts, volleyball and outdoor movies shown during the warm summer nights. With our pass, the Rec Center is $8/person or $25/family per day and $45/person or $125/family per week (please call the rec center to confirm the rates: 209-795-2357).

In the winter months, Bear Valley ski resort, just a 25-minute drive to the east, is known as a family-friendly, affordable resort, which offers excellent downhill and cross-country skiing for all skill levels, as well as other popular winter activities such as are sledding, snowshoeing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. (And don't forget mountain biking and hiking in the summer!)

Not to be missed in any season is Big Trees State Park where you can experience the Giant Sequoia Redwoods standing 150 feet tall and 30 feet across. With great nature and hiking trails perfect for all ages, this park is less than a 10-minute drive away and a great opportunity to see some of California’s true gems.

Fishing, boating and other water activities abound in one of the many lakes, streams and rivers including the Stanislaus River, Alpine Lake (our favorite!), Mokelumne River, Bear Creek, Rattlesnake Creek, New Melones Lake, Mosquito Lake, Union & Utica Reservoirs, New Spicer Reservoir and many others.

And don’t forget a visit to the nearby Gold Rush towns of Murphys (quaint downtown with shops & restaurants) and Colombia (preserved 1850’s main street, carriage rides, old-time photos, panning for gold) as well as many award-winning wineries and tasting rooms, three golf courses, or three of the area’s breathtaking caverns (California, Mercer and Moaning) which are open for exploring and tours.

Phone numbers and website links to many of the above attractions are on our website at ArnoldVacation(dot)com - Things To Do In The Area page.

We always enjoy ourselves so much when we’re in this area and know your family will too. Re-connect, have fun, and make yourselves at home!

About The Owner

Tim, originally from Santa Rosa and making trips to Arnold since he was a boy, purchased the cabin in 1999 and it quickly became the location for family gatherings and lots of fun all year round. Terri joined the family in 2004 and instantly fell in love with the area as well. Unfortunately we now live in southern California and are unable to get to our “home away from home” as often as we’d like… So we’ve opened it up for friends and family to enjoy. And now we invite our “new friends” from VRBO - you are welcome anytime!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1999

Why The Owner chose Arnold

Fresh air, tall redwoods, hiking, skiing, rivers and lakes, caverns... and great wine tasting in quaint Gold Rush towns. Need we say more!

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxing outdoors on the large deck with trees all around, or inside on the comfy couches with a big fire. Add some hot chocolate or glass of wine... Heaven!

Peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in Arnold. The cabin is ideally located for easy day trips to the incredible beauty and diversity of the surrounding area. Our one disappointment was costs posted for the community amenities are either very outdated, or have experienced a sudden dramatic increase. Our children were excited about the possibility of having daily access to the nearby pool. However, upon reviewing the cost we decided it was too overpriced for the limited time we intended to spend within the community. Luckily there are plenty of nearby water resources that allowed us to cool off during the very hot week!

Due to the loft, the cabin can get very warm inside during a hot week. However, the natural night cooling allows the cabin to remain comfortable most of the time. If it is hot, the best option is to enjoy the surrounding nature and return when the temperatures drop. If you are exhausted from your daily adventures, the deck outside allows you to comfortably relax and look for the frequent visits from the neighborhood deer.

The entire area is wonderfully enjoyable and easy to access from the Bay area. We will definitely return to explore again. When we decide to return, we have no reason to look for any other accommodations. Our youngest daughter even asked during the trip if we could do this every year.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a great time! The rec center did raise their rates this year (we didn't know!) and so we've decided to provide the link to their website in our Information Packet so you can get the most current details. They also have a list of their summer activities on the site as well. The loft can get quite hot and we do have 2 ceiling fans up there (it's quite large) as well as 2 standing fans that can be used. Fortunately the dry cool air comes in at night and cools it down. We also love our deck for enjoying the breezes during the day and Fly In Lake is just a 1/2 mile away and has a nice little beach and picnic area. Again, glad you had a good time and come back and stay with us again!

Awesome time.

This was the second time we rented the cabin in the last year. We had a blast both times. Lots of cabin space, well furnished, and very nice. Well be back. :)

Just what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

Cozy cabin, but spacious enough for two families. Feels remote but it's close to town. Just perfect for a weekend getaway.

Great Relaxing Stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was wonderful and just what we needed for a short family getaway. Everything in the cabin was perfect and cozy with just the right amount of snow outside to play. We bought firewood at ACE because the trunk was empty. The fire warmed the whole cabin and made for a great winter evening.

Thanks again for the amazing stay!
