About this property

Waterfront, Family Retreat up to 12, Acadia National Park, Coastal Maine, Camp

Branch lake is known as one of the top rated lakes in Maine for its water purity and very unique sparse population as its the watershed for Ellsworth. Less than half the lakeshore is developed, especially the Southern end, making one feel wonderfully cutoff from civilization! Mainguy's is one of the nicest or best camps on Branch Lake for its location and amenities just off Route 1, center lake location, deep water frontage with a dive tower, small beach, lakeside fireplace and exceptional knotty pine interior with top of the line appliances, new beds, bar, stereo system, Wifi & 3 large LED TV's. The year round house/camp was totally gutted from top to bottom and remodeled IN 2015 and is just 40 feet from the waters edge. Ideally designed for families or 2 couples as there are 2 separate indoor entertainment areas. There is 1 ground floor bedroom with a queen, 2 bedrooms with full beds, 1 master king bedroom on the 3rd level which has a 1/2 bathroom, and a bunk bedroom along with a loft hosting a very plush full futon bed. The kitchen is completely remodeled with state of the art appliances, dual oven, 36 inch fridge with ice maker , dual gas stove and dishwasher along with a convection microwave oven. Hardwood flooring is laid throughout the 1st floor including the kitchen along with new wrap around quartz countertops. The house has all new linen and towels you will need along with all kitchen utensils and dishes. The ground floor has industrial carpeting as the sliding glass door exit finds you right near the sand beach and can handle the sandy traffic in and out. The hammock right near the dock is often fought over during the day or evening as a perch to watch the fire in the lakeside fireplace. Sunsets from the deck are magic! A very scenic 30 minute drive takes you into the famed Acadia National Park or towards Bucksport to start a must do memorable drive along the coastline down to Camden with all the roadside charm and antique shopping.
Below are two boat rental options that deliver pontoons right to the dock.

Great Maine vacation
We had a great stay at this house. It was clean and had everything we needed for a week at the lake. The house was well stocked with essentials and cook wear. Our family had a great time at the lake kayaking and paddle boarding. Only a 45 min drive to Acadia made it easy to hike in the morning and get to the lake by the afternoon. The owners were great with communication and extremely accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful lakefront home
Perfect vacation spot for our family! The house is clean, spacious, and well-stocked with linens, towels, and kitchen necessities as well as games and lake "toys" (canoe, kayaks, paddle board). The lake is pristine and perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The dock with its diving/jumping platform is fantastic fun. Three generations had a great week!

Great time!
We had a wonderful time on Branch lake!! The dive platform was huge hit regardless of the weather. I was in awe of the huge lake rocks and how clear the water was. We saw a bald eagle twice and so many fish. The house was a great fit for our large party. The beds were quite comfortable and the showers were exceptional! Can’t wait for next year.

I am currently the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Millenia in Singapore and have been in the hospitality industry for 40 years throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East/Gulf and now Asia. I consider Maine home and will eventually stay there once my career ends. I have another property across the lake as I love the topography, people, fresh air, simplicity, wilderness with key infrastructure at your doorstep along with the incredible charm of the coastal area between Bar Harbor and Camden.

Why they chose this property

I went to Husson University in Bangor Maine. Having grown up in Europe, I had never seen such pristine wilderness within reach of major infrastructure at an affordable price. I fell in love with the idea of owning a camp on the water immediately and call it home as I travelled the world. I finally found this place on Branch that ticked off all the boxes and over the years, built it from its simple seasonal beginnings into my idea of what a lakeside camp should look, feel like and offer. I wanted a place that was easy to access, close to everything, offer great swimming from the shore yet be able to pull up in a sailboat with a keel, stunning water views, be close to the waters edge, and to top it all off, feel like I was in a very isolated area.

What makes this property unique

Again, besides the incredible location just off route 1, lake centered, the lot is surrounded by the best homes on the lake, just on the cusp of a small bay overlooking a little private public island. The small beach is ideal for swimming off of and the dive tower offering kids and adults alike hours of entertainment. Mornings are exceptionally tranquil with picturesque sunsets in the evenings. The moments of roasting some marsh-mellows over an open fire at the lakes edge while sipping some wine or enjoying a beer will forever be etched in your memory. I have pulled in Salmon, trout and bass off my dock in the early mornings but mostly enjoy the swimming and snorkeling just off the property. I love boating to the 2 public beaches. One is right across the lake from the property next to a public boat launch and the other at the Southern tip under a bridge next to the dam. There are a few small islands in the Northern end. Branch Lake is essentially a giant well with its deepest point of 124 feet!
