Half of a large, classic Maine farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and is a short walk from the Back River. The other half of the house is reserved for Lisa, myself and our 13 year old pug mix use. You have your own private entrance and parking area and often we are out of town. As you can tell from the reviews we will not intrude on your vacation however please email us with any questions or concerns.
The rental space is comprised of approximately 1,500 square feet, with two bedrooms plus a twin bed in an area located off of the master bedroom (perfect for a child who appreciates being close to a parent). The master bedroom is located up a steep antique-style stairway with a queen sized bed, a day bed and an en suite bath. The second bedroom is located on the ground floor and contains a full sized bed (as well as a twin mattress stored under it) and is served by a nearby half bath with the outdoor shower just steps away (an experience not to be missed).
The great room boasts lovely views of spruce forests, the pear tree and the adjacent gravel terrace that has all of the amenities for outdoor cooking and dining or just relaxing in the lounge chairs.
Just off of the great room you will find a charming barn area complete with barn swing overlooking the farm and a ping-pong table and other barn/outdoor games.
The rental also offers a well-stocked kitchen with commercial grade oven and range, spices, gourmet olive oils, cast iron pans, Riedel wine glasses, etc., in addition to a lovely adjacent sitting area.
The property sits on 6 acres of farmland and 3 acres of woods, gardens and natural Mid-coast Maine habitat. The space has heat, for the colder seasons, and its own private entrances and gravel parking area with space for several cars. Enjoy a short walk to a pristine salt water estuary which is a perfect location for kayaking, swimming, bird watching, crabbing, boating and fishing as well as many other water activities. Kayak rentals are available just a few miles away Friendship Village. It is the perfect place to relax and recover from a busy life but also offers modern amenities such as wireless internet, cable television with 100+ channels, home phone and a well-stocked kitchen.
Rentals are Saturday to Saturday only (with exceptions in the off season) and we are HAPPY to rent for a month or even for a year however we do not offer an discount for long-term rentals.
Thomaston (15 minutes), Rockland (20 minutes) and Camden/Wiscasset (30 minutes) are easy and scenic drives and Portland is about 90 minutes away. In these towns you will find boutiques, award winning restaurants, harbor front cafes, museums as well as the fleet of antique schooners that ply the waters of Muscongus bay.
Our farmhouse is truly a magical place and not to be missed. We look forward to hosting you.
Thank you for reading! Alan

Friendship is an unspoiled lobstering village just south of the Rockland/ Camden area of the midcoast. The village has one general store (well stocked with groceries, wine, beer, liquor) with a gas station, an antique shop, kayak rentals, a tiny museum, farm stands offering local produce as well as few open artists' studios. On the other side of the Meduncook river is the town of Cushing, made famous by the Wyeth family of painters. The Olson house portrayed in 'Christina's World', now a museum is just a short drive. Fifteen to twenty minutes north is the Rockland, Rockport, Camden area with award-winning restaurants, various museums and the schooner fleet. Rockland is host to numerous summer festivals and is the port for most of the island ferries. Monhegan can be reached by boats in either New Harbor or Port Clyde. Hiking and mountain climbing can be found in the Camden Hills, with pristine lakes and good blueberry picking mid to late summer. In short, the area has much to offer both in scenic beauty and cultural attractions, and locally, the Friendship peninsula is a great place to unwind and enjoy tranquility, local seafood and the fishing/ farming culture.
