Loved my little getaway vacation at Piccolo Nido. Pat & Virg thought of everything, and the cottage was spotless. Especially enjoyed being able to take the kayak out every day. Got lovely pics of blue herons and geese and a deer grazing at the shore line. Grilled ribs on the gas grill on the deck and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit - a perfect stress-free vacation! I asked Virg to adopt me so I could just live there permanently but so far no confirmation on that request! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you, Sue. So happy that you enjoyed your stay. And Virg says he has submitted adoption forms! 😊

Great home base for adventuing

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as described and cozier! The setting is beautiful, the couch is comfortable, and we enjoyed the wood stove and satellite TV after staying out seeing sights all day. I can only imagine how great this cabin must be in the summer when the weather allows swimming, fishing, and boating. The cabin is clean, well maintained, and beautifully decorated. Tall adults will struggle with the upstairs bedroom, but the bed slept comfortably. The sun room is beautiful, and our daughter enjoyed sleeping on the day bed there. Pat and Virg are so accommodating and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

Gorgeous Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

This cutie little cottage was a real escape from the hustle and bustle. Everything inside is hobbit sized, which was perfect for me and my now husband, 5'5" and 5'3" respectively. The parking at the top is a little tight, and I would recommend packing light, as there is a long, well-lit wooden stairway down to the cottage. We had a glorious time sitting out on the deck in the morning, enjoying our coffee. All the modern comforts are inside; I wish it had been cold enough to light a fire in the woodstove. Ah, well. Next time! The windows give a great view of the lake, and the sitting room would work well for a third guest or child. The stand up shower was roomy and the hot water was excellent. Our bed was very soft and snug, and while the slanted roof meant you needed to crouch down a bit to get into bed, once there it was very homey, with the gorgeous quilts. My only detraction was that we had a very difficult time getting cell phone reception, (Sprint did better than Verizon) and there was no WiFi. There was a list available of local places you could go to get WiFi, which was very kind. We only met the owners the once, but they were very responsive. I would definitely stay again!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We couldn't have chosen a better place to spend our honeymoon. We loved the kayaks and the bass fishing was amazing. We caught some huge bass right at the dock! Thank you for your kindness.
